View Full Version : Detroit casinos
anyone go regularly?
i don't really like playing any games besides poker, and i've never been to Motor City Casino or Greektown. i've been to Windsor's casinos way back when. down the line when i get more steady income and more free time, i might try the poker rooms down in the casinos in Detroit.

Glenn 06-07-2006, 10:56 AM I used to love Motor City because the 3rd floor is totally non-smoking.
They recently took out almost all of the table games on the 3rd floor except for Hold 'Em (they added a bunch of Hold 'Em tables due to its popularity at the moment), which sucks for me since I like Let It Ride and Black Jack.
The smoke in those places is enough to make me not want to go back.
Black Dynamite 06-07-2006, 11:40 AM I'll play slots from time to time. and the only place to win on the slots is motor city. but all of the casinos here irk me. because they all lack in extra entertainment.
Hermy 06-07-2006, 12:38 PM The rate to play poker @ the downtown casinos is robbery. DOn't remember it, but I remember seeing it and leaving.

b-diddy 06-07-2006, 07:13 PM the only game i really like is black jack (hold em is ok). i dont have money right now to throw away at casinos. i go to school a lock away from greektown and have only gone there to validate parking.
kind of question how good they are for detroit.
Gecko 06-07-2006, 08:09 PM So whatever happened to the Casino's on the Riverfront plan. I know that plan died some time ago but never heard if it was still a possibility.

not sure how up to date that site is. but i know that casinos are not going to the water front. i know one casino has broken ground west of the lodge (think mgm), but i think i heard atleast 1, maybe 2 casinos would not be moving.
the riverfront should be nice though. theyre building a parkway all the way from the bridge to belle isle (who doesnt want to stroll down jefferson? lol). i guess theyre trying to turn all that area east of rencen (i think its the woodbridge area) into a fun nightlifie area.

more up to date.
mgm is the only casino building a new structure (3/4 of a billion dollar project). the other two are adding onto their existing structures (thus destroying greektown).
Gecko 06-07-2006, 10:15 PM Why they would all build miles away from each other makes little sense to me. It would of been nice to see them all together in some type of entertainment district.

its pretty political. the countless lawsuits and roadblocks is part of the reason archer said fuck running this city. he couldnt get one idea going w/o cockblocking from lawsuits and/or city council.

I'm guessing that the hope was that they could help revitalize 3 areas instead of 1?
b-diddy 06-08-2006, 03:03 PM thats always been detroit's thinking. spread out the landmarks and let the private sector fill in the rest... so far i'd say it hasnt worked.
cruscott35 07-05-2006, 07:00 PM The pokerrooms in the Detroit casinos are garbage, the rake is 6$/half hour, they are poorly managed, and their spread of games is shit. Play online, you're better off there anyway.
