View Full Version : Official Fire Sheed Thread

Well, we can't fire him, but how about a trade?

I am absolutely sick of seing him wrap his arm around his opponent six times per game, foul out, and then blame the refs.

He deserved 5 of his 6 fouls last night - and they were all bad fouls that hurt his team. He is the highest paid player, who shows up the least amount of the time. And he, more than any other player or coach, is the reason we won't win a title this year.

He sits on the sidelines looking disinterested for 3 quarters of most of the games he's been a Piston, yet he earns HOW MUCH per year?

I propose a trade to the Knicks, for a swingman who can back up Prince and Hamilton and a young power forward who can backup Ben and Dice.

They've got plenty of overpaid swingmen and plenty of young forwards, don't they?

Make it happpen, Joe. Quintin Richardson and David Lee? Jalen Rose and someone?

Thoughts?

I was about to do a "Fun with Sheed trades" thread, but this will do.

The deal I posted the other day was Sheed/Evans for Jalen & a young player (Frye? Lee?) add picks as necessary for extra spice.

I was going to make a different thread for something similar: If the WallaceX2 for Garnett trade is still available, I think that Joe should pull the trigger on that... IMMEDIATELY.

I would even go so far as Ben and Rip for Garnett.

Either way, I wouldn't want flip to coach next years team.

I think once we get rid of one of the starting 5, we begin re-building mode.

And sadly, I think it needs to happen. I don't know what happened to piss Sheed off, but he's obviously dejected and disinterested now.

I'd rather take back Taylor, Frye and Nate for Sheed and Evans.

I'd be happy to to take Jalen, Frye and Nate though.

Either way get Sheed and Mo off the fucking team.

What's wrong with Mo Evans? He's one of the few players who played hard in the postseason.

think so? i mean, it all depends on who JoeD could possibly get for Sheed.

unfortunately, his trade value has plummetted in the past two months, imo. before the playoffs started, he was an All-Star and integral part of a championship contender.

now he's turned into whining/portland Sheed in the eyes of everyone else.

i wonder if that's why Sheed is so downtrodden. maybe he's hurt that his reputation that he's sort of recovered since coming to Detroit has gone down the crapper.

Count me in on the Sheed trade talks. However, trading him for a non big man would put us in a bad spot unless Maxiel is ready. We simply haven't seen enough of him to judge that. I wonder if Philly would want him back as a hometown hero. Maybe for Iggy and a first rounder.

KG for Sheed, Evans, Delk, Davis and Orlando's pick works for me.

can we just concede the next game and agree to that deal???

somehow I doubt Minny does that deal.. but a starting five of Billups/Rip/Prince/KG/Ben with McDyess in the wings, would be sick. SICK. Not even Flip could screw that up (.... right? RIGHT???). Bonuses is that the bench departures would also open up some time for Delfino and Mad Max (hopefully)

Reality check. I dont know why this always happens, but teams embody their coach. his characteristics somehow lays itself onto his players. Our players had some of the better numbers of their careers this year during the regular season and are now having trouble in the playoffs. Their coach was known as a regular season coach.

What was the hope? that we would be better than his coaching. But now i think that was a naive thought. we were never so good that we can outplay the defencies of our coach.

Last night Flip saunders coached one of his better games of the playoffs. And he was 3 steps behind Riley on every adjustment. He waits until the second half to come up with a mix of zones and man to slow wade down and some sets that were working. Then Riley Figures it out on both ends by the 4th quarter.

I ask this question. Has Flip outcoached Pat Riley? has he even broke even? I dont think he has myself. This feels very rick carlisle to me. Thats some really fucked shit to play your way through. And its hard to trust your coach when he gets outcoached like that.. When was the last time we ran a successful play out of a timeout vs the very high percentage of successful plays out of timeouts with Brown?

I think outplaying his coaching is too tall a task at this point. Of course i was hoping for more rust on pat riley, but he's in good form right now. Either way I dont think we should tear down shit. Unless we keep Flip. Of course keeping Flip over our starting five is some dirty shit IMO. But getting rid of them both is utter stupidity. Either you find a real coach the way you find useful free agents, or you build the team around what type of coach you have. of course the latter of the two is a team i probally wont like.

Sheed was gimpy and foul prone when we won in 2004 under LB. He brought a couple good games (one against Slava Medvedenko after Karl Malone gimped out) and demanded attention by the other teams, but by and large wasn't all that great. Apart from shotblocking, his Guaransheed game was won on other players' backs.

Gutz:

This is a trade Rasheed thread.

What does Flip's coaching have to do with it?

Especially since Sheed's been the same player since the day we traded for him - wildly inconsistent, shows up for 1 playoff game per series, commits an incredible amount of stupid fouls by grabbing his opponent's arm, and then yells at the ref for simply calling an obvious foul, sits on the bench in foul trouble every game, comes back in just long enough to jack up shots from 3-5 feet beyond the 3 point arc, refuses to work in the post although he's incredibly talented there, is a HORRIBLE rebounder because he doesn't WANT to rebound, etc.

What does that have to do with Flip?

This is a little radical, but I'm throwing it out there anyways.

What about Iverson? Think we'd have any more scoring droughts with AI?

Sheed & Rip to Philly for Allen, Iguodala and a pick.

Send both of the Philly boys home to help the Sixers sell some tickets.

Billups
Iverson
Tay
Dice
Ben

Iguodala coming off the bench, add a MLE big man if Max/Amir aren't ready or if Dale is too old.

Just sayin'

WTFchris

Don't like it. AI would not fit here at all. It would turn Billups into a spot up shooter instead of a tough nosed PG. If we were to trade RIP, I would want a spot up shooter like Ray Allen. That way Billups could drive and kick, or Prince could post and kick to him. The problem is that our spot up shooter that stretches the floor is a 6-11 FC that should be rebounding the basketball.

i love AI and i wouldn't mind him here in Detroit. a fresh start would work wonders on him, imo. although, with Billups and AI.....not sure how that would work out. if we got AI+AI....that'd be pretty nice.

Billups, AI, Tay, Ben, and Davis, maybe? Keep Dice on the bench for scoring and to preserve his legs. that'd be a DAMN good defensive team. Davis and Ben could own the boards. Iguoudala off the bench would be very sweet. hell, give 'em Delfino and Mo, too, since we wouldn't need either.

our bench would be: Lindsey, Delk, AI, Dice, and Cato. Or Lindsey, Delk, Iggy, Maxiell, and Dice. VERY solid.

that'd be a pretty damn exciting team.

We would need a big in return for Sheed, who would it be?

Atlanta - nada
Boston - Jefferson has OK skills, would need more
Charlotte - Okafor would be OK, 2 undersized guys would be a risk
Chicago - Chandler = no offense, Sweetney - no
Dallas - Dirk - lol, Dampier - lol the opposite way
Denver - KMart ughh, Camby = old, Nene = crippled

continue on for me-

Notables - Randolph, bad attitude, good inside game, Odom, not sure after that.
