MSU QB Natale to transfer to Rutgers

Michigan State's Domenic Natale, rated as one of the nation's top high school quarterbacks during his career at The Hun School in Princeton, will transfer to Rutgers, the New Jersey school says.

Natale, who will sit out the 2006 season under NCAA guidelines, will have three seasons of eligibility. He was a redshirt last season with the Spartans.

"We're pleased that Domenic will come home to New Jersey and join our football program at Rutgers," coach Greg Schiano said in a written statement. "He enjoyed an outstanding career at The Hun School and already has two spring practices and one season in college ball under his belt, and will benefit from having a year to familiarize himself with our system."

In two seasons as the starting quarterback at The Hun School, Natale led the Raiders to a 15-3 record and threw for 2,689 yards and 34 touchdowns.

That just hurts State's depth. With Nichol coming in, he wasn't likely to start anyhow, expect maybe Nichol's freshman year if he won the job. But again, unless Nichol is even more dissappointing than Stephen Reaves was, Natale wouldn't be seeing much time.

If he wanted to go to Rutgers, maybe he wasn't worth the worry anyway.

RUTGERS?!?!

Um, didn't Rutgers beat State the last time they played?

By the way, I realized that with Hoyer on the team, depth probably isn't much of an issue. Hoyer is decent enough. Doubtful two guys would get hurt.

Fucking Rutgers?

They're lower on the ladder than State, and that's pretty low.

How are they lower? Last year they had a winning record. Over the last 2 years they are 11-12, compared to State's 10-13.
They lost their starting QB to graduation, but their backup was experienced (I think he may have even started 3 or more games last season), and most of the key players are returning. Rutgers WILL be in a bowl game this year. State can't be quite as confident.

You won't find me defending State too much in regards to fball anymore. However, they beat State when Stanton was out. Still a joke, but deceiving.

Natale had to transfer. Stanton this year. Hoyer is the #2 and a good one at that. Natale was #3 and still would have been #3 next year with the arrival of Mr. Nichol.

Jethro skewed stats. Yes they were about a .500 team. But, they don't play in the Big Ten and you don't see Rutgers beating teams like Notre Dame and going toe to toe with Michigan and OSU on a yearly basis. You don't see Rutgers ever ranked in the Top 10 either, something that has happened 2 of the last 3 years for State. Just wish we'd stay there.
