MSNBC - General manager Elgin Baylor will be named NBA executive of the year this week, the Los Angeles Times and Sporting News reported.

Baylor was voted the winner by other NBA executives, the newspaper and site reported

didnt deserve it. to me, exec should be more of a career accomplishment award than a yearly award.

how do you give a gm who has routinely been the laughingstock of the league (not entirely his fault) an award because he did well one year?

its a little bit like giving a deadbeat who inherited a million dollars an award for being a good businessman (i realize, the analogy makes little sense). but an exec of the year award should mean most teams would want to hire baylor if he was available. i doubt thats actually the case, however.

Baylor aquired Cassell, Mobley, Radmonovic, etc.

He deserved it this year.

i'd have given it to phx's (coangelo?). he overhauled the roaster again yet kept his team afloat.

he's the reason nash got two mvps.
