Great find. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go dig up my Ninja Scroll VHS and steal a VCR from a museum. MOLA1 05-12-2006, 08:15 PM Awesome clip. Great find. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go dig up my Ninja Scroll VHS and steal a VCR from a museum. First thing I thought of when I saw this thread is how much time you and I spent watching this shit. The second thing I thought of was how many movies I ripped off from that joint by my place out there in Cali. LMFAO. Black Dynamite 05-13-2006, 01:18 PM they have other music video versions. but this was the only one that seemed artistic. sometimes rock doesnt work. Kstat 05-18-2006, 12:58 PM That movie was horrible on so many levels.... Black Dynamite 05-18-2006, 01:11 PM to each his own i guess. but the obvious question then is what anime is great in your mind(if you're talking about the anime movie)? Kstat 05-18-2006, 01:23 PM to each his own i guess. but the obvious question then is what anime is great in your mind(if you're talking about the anime movie)? Anime movies are bad in general. Aside from Miyazaki's works or the Cowboy Bebop movie, almost all of them are poor. As series go, I could rattle off a hundred titles that surpass Ninjas scrolls, but I'll shorten that list to a few: Bleach Genshiken Rurouni Kenshin Gungrave Samurai Champloo Ranma 1/2 FullMetal Alchemist Samurai 7 GTO Naruto used to be on this list, but I digress. It's great if you don't watch anything past episode 130... As far as anime music videos go, it's practically an art form now: People make money off of them in competitions. Very high-quality stuff. www.animemusicvideos.org Black Dynamite 05-18-2006, 02:54 PM its a nice list. but ranma and gungrave were horrible IMO. definately not better than ninja scroll or fist of the north star. alchemist is very tight though. my list is a lil different Fist of the north star Beserk Ninja scroll Samurai deeper kyo(i think thats the title, its been awhile though) the professional (golgo 13) Vampire hunter D part 1 and 2 Appleseed Akira Ghost in the shell(original) steamboy Spriggan(a supremely underrated classic IMO) Wicked City Kstat 05-18-2006, 09:54 PM Akira was a landmark anime in terms of animation, but that doesnt change the fact the story sucked. Ghost in the shell 1 was more of the same. Great animation, bad writing. Black Dynamite 05-18-2006, 10:11 PM Akira was a landmark anime in terms of animation, but that doesnt change the fact the story sucked. Ghost in the shell 1 was more of the same. Great animation, bad writing. bad how? it was very intelligent writing IMO. What elements of the writing are so bad in both? Especially since most animes copy alot of the ways Akira and battle angel (which has intrigued james cameron so much he's doing a movie version) were put together from the story to the artwork. While i'll admit that akira comes across as akward(especially at the end), "bad" is not what i would call the story. And Ghost in the shell was perfect IMO, was also well received by american movie critics for its story oddly enough. also another one i liked with a semi complicated story was cowboy bebop the movie. Kstat 05-18-2006, 11:11 PM Cowboby Bebop actually had a story. Ghost in the Shell was nothing but half a story drawn out over an hour. Kstat 05-18-2006, 11:12 PM As for Ranma 1/2. the manga was brilliant, but the anime was only good through 2 seasons and 12 OAVs. Black Dynamite 05-19-2006, 12:18 AM ranma never came across as brilliant at any point i was able to sit through a full episode. but to each his own there. |
