Dude is killing my in my fantasy league. I was counting on 15+ wins and a sub 3.00 ERA at least.

I think he needs to straighten that fucking hat of his out.

I think it's simple.

He wants to get the fuck out of Florida, thus his suckitude.

Either that or he needs to go to the Rahmani Eye Institute, where the results have been unbeeveevabuw.

Walks + Hits / Innings Pitched

Maybe he's hurt? Usually when a guy has a drastic turnaround like this, he's hiding some injury. That, or, for a few years I've been thinking that the more batters saw him and his array of arm angles, the more he'd get hit. The league might just have finally caught up to him. Think Hideo Nomo. He's killing me in my fantasy league, too. I've got Roger stashed on the bench, and if he doesn't come back, my season might be over.

I'm in the exact same situation
D-train blowing up my team
and the Rocket in reserve

You guys starting him tonight? I can't decide.

Glenn

I am.

I have innings to burn, and the one time I sat Aaron Harang earlier this year the douche throws a shutout.

I'm not going down that route again with D Train.

I've got 5 guys going tonight.

Willis, Peavy, Capuano, Harang & Felix (another disappointment)

Dombrowski recently stated he will be a buyer at the trade deadline. Here's a question for you guys - would you add Willis at the deadline if you could?

For me, it would depend on what the asking price is.

If they want one of Verlander, Zumaya or Maybin, I probably wouldn't do it.

But I would be much more open to trading mid-level prospects (Hannahan, Giarratano, Ledezma, Sleeth and others) along with guys like Grilli, Thames and Young in a package to get Willis.

I agree with H1 for the most part, but I think I would part with Zoom for the D-train. I think Sleeth, Infante and a top AA or A ball prospect is the minimum for D-Train. I love Willis he is an elite pitcher, Verlander and Zoom are elite prospects, so it just a matter of potential vs actual production and what you value. To me Verlander for Willis would even be worth it, even though I love Verlander. However the fact is JV is 23, is 4-5 in his career with a 4.47 era, and has recorded 34K's, Willis is 24 has a record of 47-31, almost 500 k's and a 3.47 ERA to go ith his WS ring and playoff exp. So it is not like if we gave up a JV or Zoom we are getting back Doyle Alexander or a guy who doesn't have 10-20 years ahead of them left.

I personally think that a change of scenary will fix the woes he is having thus far. Like it or not Florida conceeded the season in the offseason, not to mention they sent the mesage that once it starta costing big money they will shed payroll, I can see why he wouldn't be at his best.

Good thing about the MLB draft is that it is before the TD. So if DD can land an elite player in rd 1 it might give him the confidence to move a top minor league prospect at the TD.

My memory is failing me, does anybody know who else besides Matt Clement was involved in the Willis deal from the Cubs to the Marlins?

Darth Thanatos

Josh Beckett, IIRC

I'd give them Thames(minor league contract?), Young(expiring contract), and a 2nd rate bullpen guy(Walker, Seay) for Willis.

Although I think they'd be most interested in Mike Maroth.

Vinny

No, Beckett was like a top five overall pick for the Marlins. It was Willis and some scrub starter from the cubs for Matt Clement and Antonio "Six Fingers" Alfonseca

All that and I only got one win, from Mariano Rivera.

D-Train was solid at least.

I really doubt they'd trade Willis for any package that doesn't include Zumaya, Maybin or Verlander. They went on that huge salary dump in the offseason, yeah, but almost everything they got back was a top, Major League level prospect. They're not going to give him away for our second tier.

You don't think they'd be interested in Bonderman?

Vinny
05-17-2006, 05:11 PM
Yeah, I didn't even think about him. Personally, I've always considered Willis a flash in the pan, so I'm definitely biased. DD did covet Willis in FLa so who knows.

CG for Willis last night, in a loss.

That was his second straight complete game IIRC. He's also had two straight quality starts. Looks like he's turning it around.

Complete game victory for the D Train last night.

Looks like he's starting to turn it around.

I think this thread did the trick.

After seeing him get beat up again last night, I finally had to cut him this morning from my fantasy squad (I'm running away with my league, up 12 points over 2nd place).

Unfortunately, I had to make room for Chipper Jones to come off the DL (3HR last night).

I still can't figure out what went wrong with D-Train, isn't he pitching for a contract? He was totally dominant last year.

He usually follows a good season with an average one(like his first two seasons).
