Let me start by saying I'm a big Chauncey fan, but ESPN has a section up about the greatest PGs of all-time, and Chauncey has made it onto the top 12 to rank here (http://sports.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/listranker?id=492). I'm amazed to see him there already. It's been a few quality seasons, come on. All this Piston love can't be good.

A point guard who must be one of the best ever, because he's been the "National Basketball Association's Most Valuable Player" for the past two years, ahead of such names as LeBron, Kobe, Duncan, KG, Kidd, Billups, Parker, etc.

Shouldn't Steve Nash be #1 on that list?

How can the most valuable player in the NBA two years in a row not even be on the list, while a total scrub like Isiah Thomas (who has NEVER won MVP), is #3 ALL TIME???

That list is proof of how undeserving Nash is. He's not even the best point guard in the NBA right now, yet he's the MVP? Why? Because he's the most important player to his own team? I wish those were the rules back when Isiah was still in the league. He'd be a 5 or 6 time MVP if the voters applied the same rules (actually, it would probably be John Stockton or Mark Price or some other white point guard who has NEVER won ANYTHING).

Nash winning the MVP over Kobe and LeBron is like Mark Price winning the MVP over Michael Jordan in his prime, right after Jordan won the game winning shot to send Price and his Cavs home packing AGAIN without a single championship.

A couple of good games verses Gary Payton = 1 of the greatest PGs of all time.

Kirk Heinrich = 13th best PG ever.

chauncy's not the best of all time, obviously. put i cant imagine a pg playing at a higher level than chauncy has for most of this season.

defense=great
ball control=great (never turns it over, but also moves it around well)
decision making=great
shooting=great (even though he hasnt been knocking down the clutch threes like in seasons past, but he hasnt had to).

imo, you couldnt get a pg to play better than chauncy has this year.

It's really hard to make that distinction with West, Oscar, and AI.

AI is a SG because he's played %80 of his career at that spot.

Oscar was known for setting up his team's offense.

Jerry I've seen multiple game tapes of, going back to his prime. Jerry was a PG for all of a few seasons with LA. The rest of his career, he was a SG.

Think TMac without as much hops, although Jerry could elevate pretty damn well for his era. He'd bring the ball up the floor, give it up to the lead guard, get the ball back a few seconds later and just rise over the guy guarding him for the jumper, on a dime. Jerry was a SG in every sense of the word.

West and Oscar seemed like they were PGs roughly half the time, from what I've seen of their play which is scattered. West wasn't the playmaker Oscar is, but played with some of the best-passing bigs and was top 10 in total assists for the full seasons he played in. Longer-term, I don't see AI going back to SG, and with a couple more seasons, he'll be at about half and half too.
