With the terrible news that Sony dropped on us, I'm guessing MANY people will be switching the the 360. I thought I was a PS fan for life, but 600 dollars changed my mind.

I'm going to grab my 360 and a copy of Hitman: Bloodmoney in a couple of weeks. Now that I'm making the switch, I'm pretty excited to step into the next gen land. 47 couldn't look any better than he'll look on my new 360 with a wireless in my hands.

I already have....and I'll say that Call of Duty 2 is also a worthy title to pick up. Trust me, you won't be dissapointed.

Really good call Tre. I've been in 360 land ever since Christmas and I can't imagine anything more that I'd want out of a system. HD, Windows Media Center extender (TiVo), wireless controllers, dreamy graphics, Xbox Live, gamerscores, and bottom line.......amazing games.

Too bad you didn't make this decision sooner! You're going to be loving life from here on out though. And oh yeah....buy Fight Night Round 3 right now....thank me later.

For those of you who already made the switch, I've got two questions. My 360 will be on my big screen in one room, computer will be in the other. Am I pretty much out of luck with online play with this situation? Any suggestions? Could I run a long cord to the 360 and just disconnect it when I'm done playing?

Also, did any of you buy the HD $40 cords? Worth it or no?

Are you getting the Premium system? That comes with the HD cables, unless you're talking HDMI, in which case I have no input.

And for the rest of the post, yes, you could just use a really long cable (which I've been doing), but if you've got a lot of money, you could go with Shug's option.

To get started, you MUST get the premium system ($400), an extra wireless controller ($50), at least 1 game ($60), and the DVD remote. ($25) So you're looking at about 550 bucks to get started. Some extra stuff I'd recommend is Xbox Live (obviously) and the best way to do that is to sign up for a year for 50 bucks, the Play and Charge kit (with a battery pack) will cost about $25. That kit is great because you don't need to keep buying batteries, just plug the controller you're not using into the USB on the 360 and it will charge it up while you play. It will also charge if the 360 is not even on and a controller is plugged in. Awesome!

So $550 for the bare minimum and about $625 if you want the hook up. It sounds like a lot, but if you have some trade in stuff, that will help. Do it!

Bang, when did you get yours? A buddy of mine got his about 2 months ago (premium version) and he didn't get the remote. I'm thinking the first few shipments had remotes with them, but now Microsoft is trying to make even more cash, and is selling them seperately.

The first or second wave of them came with the remote. It was never actually a part of the premium package, just was considered a "bonus."

not all at once. preorder and with it getting paid off by the time of release in parts works. spending between 500-700 vs 600-800 for all the required enjoyment on either system doesnt really deter me if the ps3 is up to par. if it isnt i probally go 360. but i'm not buying two systems. so commiting this early to either or isnt smart for me if i find myself wishing i had the other system. .

I'll be buying 2 systems but it will probably be the 360 and the Revolution ( I still refuse to call it WIIIIIIIIIIIII)

honestly i dont expect the ps3 to compare to any xbox fan. why on earth would you admit that you bought your system too early? at the same time, i think the ps3 has alot of work to do in impressing me. but theoretically have the hardware to do it. i'm just gonna see how it all pans out by november. no need to commit to anything :D

Not since the NES have I felt Nintendo. Nintendo had a chance to absolutely own the video game industry once every normal American picked up the NES controller. We all had a NES, Nintendo was thee system. There wasn't anything worth comparing. The games were amazing, the system was amazing. All they had to do was follow it up. While the Super Nintendo was pretty tight, it wasn't at the same level. They let the Genesis slide in. Every since, they've been on the gaming outskirts.

Sony might now find their grip on the industry slipping like Nintendo experienced.

Yeah, the Wavebird was pretty tight and Nintendo gad a (tiny) few things working for them last gen, but you've got to admit the Gamecube was a TITANIC disappointment.

gamecube was cool IMO. was never meant to be like the other 2 systems. much like Wii isnt either.

I've got it all set up, but I've refused to turn it on and get it rolling. I've got 1 more day of school and I want to fire it up when everything is done and kick this system off the right way.

It's unreal. Best soccer game ever. I've played them all. Great soundtrack,
great graphics, controls, sound...everything. It's tits homeslice.

I love soccer games. But I usually like the World Cup themed games where you get to pick from the National teams. I'm not really down with the games where you get to be Real Madrid and Manchester United.

I DL'd the demo the other night via XBOX Live and it's pretty fun. I have a dilemma right now, though. NFL Head Coach was released today, but I played the PC demo and it's a bit menu heavy for my tastes. So, I'm debating between Head Coach and FIFA '06 or FIFA World Cup at this point.

I should probably get HC, though, considering I do kind of run a gaming website and all.

It started out pretty hot for me, but kind of lost its luster pretty quick. How come 2K keeps making their players so damn stiff. I played Top Spin 2 the other night and it reminded me of my frustration with 2K6. It's like they used the Tin Man for mo-cap.

i hated it. theres is no fun nba game on any console. i sold my live after we lost in the ECF. Now i only play it sometimes at my peoples spot when they beg for an asswhooping. i figure someday one them will beat me.

$13 for R6V alone is a decent deal. That was a pretty fun single player game. I didn't care for the mutiplayer but R6V2 is out so it doesn't matter. Madden '07 is a bonus.

It's my second Red Ring of Death actually. Why do I continue to support this company? Maybe because of Fable II and Gears.

They have some solid titles. At the same time I'd prefer to have my Sony franchises(i.e. God of War).

My boy fixed it for me for a case of beer. He's got some tech skills and looked it up on YouTube. Niiiiice! Much better than paying $150 to Microsoft.

So I got Gears Friday, pretty awesome I must say. I think I'm probably an hour away from beating it. I did hate the underground levels however, there was just something about them.

I had a scare when my 360 refused to power up Saturday morning. That along with the HDMI randomly not playing sound prompted me to take it back to Best Buy because I have a protection plan. They took it back and exchanged it no problem but they failed to notice the 120gb Hard Drive was not in the box I was returning. So I got a free 120gb hard drive that I sold to some guy for $120($30 less than retail). Plus it came with 2 free games I'm selling on eBay that will go for about $30.

So to sum it up I exchanged for a new Elite and they basically gave me $150 too. Good deal I think.

Normally I would feel some guilt but Best Buy has fucked me over so many times in the past and their costumer service is the worst I've ever experienced.

I believe restocking fees apply to things that are being returned and are still in working condition, as opposed to things that are exchanged and are non-working.

Best Buy used to charge restocking fees on some things that hadn't even been opened, like 15%.

Not sure if that is still the case, or not.

They're sending me the prepaid box in the mail right now to get it fixed. Of course this happened during exam week and right before break. I have absolutely nothing to do. This was supposed to be my time to catch up on my gaming. I can't even watch movies because it was my DVD player. So bored!
