View Full Version : Top Ten most shocking moments in Comic Book History. Black Dynamite 05-09-2006, 05:03 PM http://comics.ign.com/articles/672/672586p1.html Brought back some memories for me. Fool 05-09-2006, 10:58 PM I'm glad they mentioned the Green Lantern going berzerk in the Superman dies saga (since Superman's death was trite and lame an then ruined even more with all the shit they did to bring him back). Coast City getting blown off the map and what came from that was much more shocking. Elecktra dying and Batman getting broken were incredible. I never read the Watchmen. Angel's wings were only cool because of what he became. Magneto ripping the adamantium from Wolverine was cool because it was Magneto showing more of his pimpness, but it wasn't all that comic altering. The only Joker that isn't lame is Jack Nicholson's. Black Dynamite 05-09-2006, 11:21 PM Shooting batgirl in the back and paralyzing her was a nice twist IMO. The watchmen ending is pretty fucked up. i didnt see the watchmen ending coming at all in several ways. MOLA1 05-10-2006, 01:07 AM Doomsday Kills Superman #6? Should be #1 IMO. The casual fan and even those who didn't read comics at all were shocked by this shit. It was a sad day indeed. Uncle Mxy 05-10-2006, 06:44 AM The killing of Batman's parents > that "top 10" list, in terms of significance. geerussell 05-10-2006, 05:18 PM I was surprised not to see the death of phoenix on the list. It got lame the way they kept recycling it but at the time it was pretty epic. Black Dynamite 05-10-2006, 05:30 PM I was surprised not to see the death of phoenix on the list. It got lame the way they kept recycling it but at the time it was pretty epic. i kinda agree. that was a nice lil' set up. I kinda wanna add the infinity guantlet when thanos was kicking damn near the whole marvel universes ass. Turned wolverines bones to sponge also.:p MOLA1 05-10-2006, 05:34 PM The killing of Batman's parents > that "top 10" list, in terms of significance. I'd agree with you, but that's what made him BATMAN, so it's not really shocking. It's definitely significant though. Maybe we should have a Top Ten List of Most Significant Moments Darth Thanatos 05-10-2006, 05:35 PM Damn. Judging from the cartoons I didn't know the Joker was that fucking crazy in the comics. He's pretty fucking awesome in the comics. How did he become the Joker? Black Dynamite 05-10-2006, 06:52 PM Damn. Judging from the cartoons I didn't know the Joker was that fucking crazy in the comics. He's pretty fucking awesome in the comics. How did he become the Joker? well thats the problem with comics. you get multiple origins. he has like 3-4 different origin stories. Darth Thanatos 05-10-2006, 06:55 PM That's why I could never get into comics. Is there one origin story more popular than the others? Elektra 05-11-2006, 05:02 AM Well at least I'm number three. That issue really fucked me up when I was younger. Miller is a genius. Uncle Mxy 05-11-2006, 03:23 PM The killing of Batman's parents > that "top 10" list, in terms of significance. I'd agree with you, but that's what made him BATMAN, so it's not really shocking. It's definitely significant though. Maybe we should have a Top Ten List of Most Significant Moments The topic of the actual survey was "Top Ten Villainous Moments" -- shocking didn't enter into the picture. :) The "death" of Superman wasn't shocking, for that matter. Black Dynamite 05-11-2006, 04:14 PM you're right. someone fix the title. |
