View Full Version : Angels @ Tigers, May 3-4 (Game 2 today at 1:05)
Vinny 05-03-2006, 05:43 PM The Tigers will look to exact some revenge for the series we lost in Anaheim last week, as the Angels come to town for a quick 2 game set on Wednesday and Thursday. The teams have gone in opposite directions since that series concluded, with the Tigers winning five in a row and the Angels losing five in a row. Let's see if we can keep both those streaks going with another sweep this week.
We may be hitting the Angels at the right time, as we'll be facing two of the weak links in their rotation and they're nursing injuries to Darin Erstad and Kelvim Escobar. They're throwing former Tiger Jeff Weaver and emergency starter Kevin Gregg at us while we send up Nate Robertson and Justin Verlander.
The Angels have recently called up top second base prospect Howie Kendrick and have been mixing him in where they can. He's got a big bat but not much experience, so let's show the rook how the new Tigers welcome freshmen to the big leagues!
Shugadaddi 05-03-2006, 06:07 PM I really had to stare down that poll before picking one. I say we sweep. Jeff Weaver and Kevin Gregg? C'mon.....
Besides, haven't you heard? Brandon Inge switched lockers two days ago because he was slumping at the plate. We're sure to win now.
Vinny 05-03-2006, 07:22 PM Rough first inning for Nate, but he held them to one run. He looked like he hurt himself on one pitch, too, hopefully he's ok.

Great point....Inge with a BOMB to tie it up in the sixth. 1-1.
H1Man 05-03-2006, 08:26 PM Inge with a HR in the bottom of the 6th and the Tigers even the score at 1-1.
Darth Thanatos 05-03-2006, 09:11 PM The umpires really screwed Jeff Weaver tonight.
Vinny 05-03-2006, 09:18 PM Yeah, Gomez!!! Tigers take the 2-1 lead.
Darth Thanatos 05-03-2006, 09:20 PM Fuck a Pudge.
Oh well, I'll take 2-1. I wonder who's closing tonight.

There were definitely some pitches that could have been called strikes, but he was pretty consistent with it both ways, so Weaver shouldn't have gotten so upset. Kid's always been a hothead though.

Yeah, heart of the Angels coming up. Do they go to TJ three days in a row?? I doubt it. Rodney? Keep Zumaya in?
Vinny 05-03-2006, 09:28 PM Yeah Fernando!!!
Our bullpen's SCARY good right now.
Shugadaddi 05-03-2006, 09:28 PM Gutsy win by The Tigers.
Darth Thanatos 05-03-2006, 09:33 PM Holy shit. Our bullpen fucking rocks! We have four-five legit bullpen pitchers.
Great win. Too bad Big Nate won't get the Dubya. :(
Anthony 05-04-2006, 11:12 AM yeah. sucks for nate. he pitched a great game. is there anyone in the MLB who is pitching better than the tigers right now top to bottom? the pitching has been unreal. just sick.
I saw the end of this game (missed the Gomez run though), way to go Tigers. Zumaya got lucky on that fly-out but his enthusiasm is fun to watch.

and i'm stuck in school. fuck:mad:
Vinny 05-04-2006, 01:28 PM Verlander's curve is just plain nasty. It carves through the zone. Coupled with his fastball, if he can have even an adequate change, he's gonna be real good for a real long time.
Tahoe 05-04-2006, 01:34 PM Napoli's first at bat in the Majors hits a dinger for the Angels. 1-0 Angels.
Shugadaddi 05-04-2006, 01:45 PM So does that make his slugging percentage 4.000? Maybe someday I'll figure out how that works.
Darth Thanatos 05-04-2006, 01:53 PM Ordonez is a run producing monster.
1-1

Yeah, exactly. 4 bases/1 atbat = 4.00
Glenn 05-04-2006, 02:24 PM Even if we are down, it's nice to see Shelton get a couple of hits.
Darth Thanatos 05-04-2006, 03:30 PM We can't win them all.
On to Minnesota for a much needed ego-boost.
Shugadaddi 05-04-2006, 03:40 PM ....and also back to the top of the rotation for our pitchers.
