FANTASTIC movie. Don Cheadle was unbelieveable in this role. i usually enjoy movies like this, but this one was especially captivating to me. the movie is about the Tutsi genocide in Rwanda, and a man who creates a refugee camp despite being Hutu himself. it's so cliche to say you were on the edge of your seat, but during the entire movie, i was on pins and needles. the stress of circumstances make for a really impactful movie. my only complaints are the two white actors, Nick Nolte and Joaquin Phoenix. Notle just looked awkward and i know Phoenix is a good actor, but his role didn't allow any of it to come out. anyways, both a ancillary characters, so it doesn't take away from the story. definitely a must see. anyone else see it?

I saw it some time ago and would have to concur. One of the more moving and powerful movies I have seen. I might be inclined to put it on my top 10 of all time. Cheadle was fantastic. You knew that things were bad in Rwanda but this movie showed you how bad. The scene where they were driving over dead bodies almost brought me to tears.

yeah, when the car started bumping, i got that eerie feeling and i guessed what it was.

on a side note, my cousin was in Uganda at the time doing an internship as part of her law school. her colleagues got to meet don cheadle when he was working on (or promoting, i can't remember) the movie. unfortunately, she was in northern uganda, so she missed her chance to meet him.

I wonder what Kamala, the Ugandan Giant, thinks of this film.

I am probably alone with this thought.

Very good movie, better movie on the topic IMO is Sometimes in April, together they make your stomach sick.

I had this movie at my house for about 3 weeks. I just couldn't get myself to watch it. I know what happened there (to a good degree at least) and I just couldn't put the thing in. Eventually I sent it back unwatched. Everything I've ever heard on it says its of the highest quality.

Going OT here....Speaking of PBS, I am a huge fan of their original movies and especially their documentaries like Frontline. I am not sure if anyone has ever watched a Frontline episode but it blows away 60 minutes, 48 hours, Dateline and all the rest. I find it so good I will be sending money into PBS this year to support them.

They had a documentary a few weeks back about the notorious gang MS-13 and their reach in the US and around the world. This gang is ruthless and they control almost all of LA right now. I am afraid to even mention there name here heh.

The current Frontline this week is about the Iraq Insurgency. I find Frontline to be middle of the road with no axe to grind. They seem to do a good job of bringing both POV into the fold. Good watch if anyone wants to know the dealio with the insurgency.

The next one coming up is "Inside Hamas" should be a dandy.

You can watch the entire show online.

Thanks G, I'll catch that. I give $ to NPR for the same reason, just more intelligent subject matter.

Here are a few of my favorite episodes. If you have the time watch any of these online I think most here would love them.

Yeah, that one was also a good one. You catch it? Anything in particular you find interesting?

The part on the failure to secure Iraq was very telling and one of the reasons I don't fully support Rumsfield at this point. Thanks for mentioning that episode.
