Jethro34 04-24-2006, 03:30 PM What other schools got awards? Penn St is usually considered linebacker U, aren't they?
Michigan is also RB bust U, while Florida is QB bust U.
Miami should get a lot of credit, for TE's if nothing else. But they turn out good defensive players too.
Michigan could get some love for O-Linemen as well.
Baker 04-24-2006, 03:48 PM We can't lay claim to much in football, but I think MSU should get some serious WR consideration.
Gibson (2 Time All American surprisingly)
Rison
Muhammed
Mason
Plax
Rogers
just to name a few
I'm sure somebody has had better, but that's a pretty nice list.
Jethro34 04-24-2006, 03:55 PM The argument depends on how much you consider guys that aren't in the league (or never were like Gibson).
Miami currently has Andre Johnson, Santana Moss and Reggie Wayne. Obviously they've had other guys, like Irvin.
Florida State has guys like Boldin, Javon Walker and Laverneous Coles.

Defensive End U-Nebraska
Tight End U-Georgia
Punter U ( [smilie=hahaha.gif] )-Colorado

Jethro34 04-24-2006, 05:11 PM Ohio State?
That's a bunch of crap.
The only notable guys they have are Galloway and Glenn - both about 2 years away from retirement, and Michael Jenkins. Boston lifted his way out of the league and Santonio Holmes, while a first round projection, hasn't done anything yet.
Artis Gilmore 04-24-2006, 05:48 PM HB U you know will be USC.

Don't forget Cris Carter.
Moodini31 04-24-2006, 10:58 PM Why Michigan is Quarterback U: This UM knocked the other one off the perch of Quarterback U. Why? Miami's last three quarterbacks to play in the NFL are Ken Dorsey, Scott Covington and Gino Torretta. Not very inspiring. The Wolverines, on the other hand, produced three-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, Pro Bowlers Brian Griese and Elvis Grbac, who retired in 2001, and backups John Navarre, Drew Henson and Todd Collins. All but one Wolverines starter since Grbac in 1989 has started a game in the NFL. Jim Harbaugh, the most decorated Michigan quarterback while in college, misses this list after taking his last NFL snap in 2000 before retiring in 2001.
Baker 04-25-2006, 08:33 AM It's pretty cool that they put this list together. I'm with you though Jethro, I don't know about OSU as WR U. If they were the only school ahead of State, I think it should have went to MSU.
Jethro34 04-26-2006, 10:38 AM I just don't they they should go back so far. Grbac has been out of the league 5 years, so he shouldn't count unless they're trying to put a string together, like how many consecutive starting QB's have made it to the league (after all, even Dreisbach was in the league for a while with the Raiders). So with WR, how many consecutive #1 WR's at a school have gone on to play in the NFL? If there's a gap in there, the retired guys shouldn't be considerred, it should be something like who has the most guys in the league right now that have been to the Pro Bowl.
Artis Gilmore 04-26-2006, 03:56 PM UM is also OT U

Why shouldn't it go back so far? If you are going to name a school "Quarterback U" or "Wide Receiver U" that would be determined by a rich history of producing great talents at the position. The whole point of this thing is to name the school that is most famous for producing great players at a particular position.
