Clipps in 7, this will be a good series.

Clippers in 6.

Better guards, slightly better big men, better bench.

This series is going to be fun. Best 1st round match up IMO. This and the Cavs-Wiz series, its gonna be a barn burner (did I really just say that?)

I might be alone here, but I actually see the Nuggets winning this one. They've at least been in the playoffs before. The Clippers have not. And I'll take George Karl over Bumleavey any day.

This is one of the most even matchups, IMO.

I think it's going 7.

In the end, Melo cracks like an egg and "Big Game" Sam Cassell delivers to Clips to the 2nd round.

Mobley and Ross are gonna hound Melo, and the nuggz dont have a good SG to back him up. I think Patterson can shut down Mobley but the clipps have too many other options. And Kenyon is playing hurt. I think Marcus Camby will have a good series, but Chris Kaman could give him a hard time because he's a great rebounder.

Any one know if maggette is gonna play?

The Clippers can play inside or out, while the Nuggets still struggle in the half court. I don't think Brand will explode. I think he'll be solid but I'm guessing Cassell hits big most of this series.

i've never had respect for the Nuggets as a team that would make noise in the playoffs. well, besides that infamous Mutombo emotional breakdown, while he was clutching the ball, babbling incoherently.

Hell of a game last night. I thought Denver was going to pull it out.

The only thing, Denver pissed me off when they took the final full 24 seconds to get the last shot instead of going quick incase you miss. That was just stupid.

Pharaoh
04-23-2006, 11:56 AM
But AG, if they miss and the Clips get the board Denver has got to foul

If the Clips hit both that's the game - up 4 and likely less than 20 seconds left.

If the Clips only hit 1 FT Denver has to hit a 3 to tie.

Hitting a 3 in that situation is tough

Personally, if there is only 24 seconds on the game clock I'd take the final shot and go for the tie.

Anthony
04-23-2006, 12:01 PM
I guess it all depends on the way you think of the game.

Personally, I would have rather have seen him iso, drive to the basket for a quick layup. If you miss, theres always a great chance for an offinsive board with Camby out there.

Artis Gilmore
04-23-2006, 12:15 PM
The Clipps almost blew the game. It was a good game though.

Was it me, or did Chris Kaman make Marcus Camby look bad all game? He seemed to have more power in him.

Pharaoh
04-23-2006, 12:18 PM
OK, we'll go with the iso and the quick hit.

He drives, draws a double and dishes to Camby or someone else for the lay-up or dunk.

Clips call TO, with (let's assume) 14 seconds left

Clips inbound and now you've got Cassell with the ball, scores tied and the clock winding down.

Do you foul?

Or do you play strong D, hope Sam I Am misses and you go to OT?

It's a tough choice either way. I wouldn't want Sam having the ball in this situation if I'm Denver.

You've also got to remember the Clips likely have Maggette, Mobley, Brand and Radmanovic on the floor.

They could post Brand and wait for the double (and you know the double has to come or he scores).

So, by taking the quick hit the Clips now have all the options and 14 seconds to go through them.

If you don't double Brand, he'll score. If you double he can kick it out to Radmanovic, Cassell or Mobely for the jumper.

I'd stick with Melo winding the clock down, having all the options and going for the tie.

He misses and you lose, or he hits and you have momentum going into OT.

He missed, but such is life.

Yeah, but I thought that was after he'd played a solid Game 1 and wasn't hobbling around any worse than usual AFAIK. Check this out:

http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/nba/article/0,2777,DRMN_23922_4651346,00.html

"As I've said before, it's hard for me to visualize him actually playing 20 minutes of basketball a game because he doesn't participate in practice very often and he just wants to play in the game," Karl said. "That philosophically doesn't make any sense to me. I think he has a big- time heart. I think he's a big-time competitor and he did a hell of a job in the second half against Brand in Game 1."
So, a guy has a sore knee, it's late in the season, and he wants to keep it light on the practices. It's clear to Karl that he can still play, so let's not play him Hunh?! And let's suspend him when we're down 0-2 in the playoffs, just to kick ourselves in the nuts some more? Say what?!

Kaman's Game 3 status in doubt

Clippers center Chris Kaman didn't practice Wednesday because of a sprained right ankle and his status for Game 3 Thursday at Denver is in doubt.

Kaman was injured in the Clippers' 98-87 victory Monday night that gave them a 2-0 lead in the first-round playoff series. He scored 10 points.

Kaman will be a game-time decision Thursday. Game 4 is Saturday night in Denver.

A sprained ankle is gonna keep him out?

It's the fucking playoffs and you're up 2 games to NONE and you're contemplating sitting out G3?

Where is the killer instinct? The fucking heart?

Cassell better smack him upside the head and tell Kaman to suit up, cause if the Clips win G3 this series is over.

Maggette(and the Clips) has flourished coming off the bench. They're a lot better with him as a super 6th man.

I don't know whether I'm complimenting or insulting him, though.

Kstat
05-02-2006, 12:33 AM
Maggette isnt durable enough to handle more minutes, and there are too many scorers already in that starting 5 for him to get his steady amount of touches.

They are definately much better with him as a 6th man.
