I'd figure it would have to be NHL/NBA, since the titles fall so closely together.
Has a city ever had two teams win major pro titles at the same time?
Did the Broncos and Avalanche do it one year?
Dodgers/ Lakers in 1988 is the only one I can think of off the top of my head. If we aren't counting WNBA championships or same state but different city. Redsox and Patriots were the same year. I am sure there are more though.

you'd figure one of the yankees and ny giants titles would cross paths. but probally not.

last time i checked the Vegas odds that Detroit will capture both the NBA and the NHL Championships in 1 season are holding at 7/1
Dallas is at 54/1 I believe
and New Jersey is at 281/1 or some ungodly number

I was really speaking of titles within the same month, such as what's about to happen if the Pistons and Red Wings do their business.
Highly doubt that has ever happened. Considering only the NHL and NBA are the only two that end at the same time. In the last 16 years alone, there have only been 5 cities that won NBA championships two of which don't have NHL teams (Houston and SA). Start subtracting expansion eras of the NHL and NBA and you realize that there are very few cities that have both NHL and NBA teams.

The Patriots and the Red Sox happened within 3 months of each other, but that's the closest I got.

Then we're looking at something unprecedented.
Why isn't this a bigger deal??????
Detroit can't possibly survive TWO riots.
Basketball = city riot
Hockey = suburban riot.
