I agree with all y'all
Comrade 04-17-2006, 04:36 PM Tonight the Pistons will see the offensive juggernaut they created when they let Simmons go. Bobby Simmons and Andrew Bogut will dominate this league for years to come.
Darth Thanatos 04-17-2006, 04:49 PM Comrade is fucking clutch. Billups and Kobe ain't got shit on him.
LMFAO! That's awesome.
Glenn 04-17-2006, 04:51 PM Even the greatness that is George Blaha will have a hard time making this game interesting tonight.

MOLA1 04-17-2006, 04:59 PM What's wrong with everyone? I'm excited.
It's NBA Basketball. Come back to me in the summer with your whining
when you're watching wack ass puke garbage sports on TV.
I'm loving every moment of this season. We're the death.
Black Dynamite 04-17-2006, 05:12 PM I agree with M1. There isnt a pistons game i dont get into. Not even in the teal years. That alone says enough. [smilie=angel.gif]
MoTown 04-17-2006, 05:13 PM MOLA 4 MVP!
DrRay11 04-17-2006, 05:14 PM Of course, I still enjoy watching it, but the urgency just isn't there. At all.
Black Dynamite 04-17-2006, 05:23 PM Of course, I still enjoy watching it, but the urgency just isn't there. At all.
it hasnt been there for awhile. Get the best record wooohoo. that isnt urgent. i like to see these guys play. they are entertaining and unlike the pacers go to work after the steam whistle goes off.
DrRay11 04-17-2006, 05:30 PM It's not important? How could you watch last year and say home court isn't important?
Also, of course they're entertaining. That's why we watch.
Uncle Mxy 04-17-2006, 05:47 PM We earned the right to rest and run benchmarks. This is the pre-post season. Time to enjoy players we're probably not going to see as much of until next year.

5. Dude's fast as fuck!

4. Listen to the hilarity that is Fred McLeod. He isn't just a homer,
he wants everyone on other teams to die. He's the fuckin shit.
He's maaad entertaining and that says a lot cause I like Blaha better.

3. Maxiell tries to reverse the Earth's rotation on every dunk attempt.

Maxiell should play 40 minutes. lol
damn, i forgot my radio tonight.
Moodini31 04-17-2006, 07:29 PM I was thinking about working out, but then I remembered the Pistons are on. I don't care if it is Delk and the jicks. The couch wins. [smilie=2thumbsup.g: Great excuse.

H1Man 04-17-2006, 10:32 PM Somebody wanna recap the game for me?
Somebody wanna recap the game for me?
Max is a beast. Tries to tear the rim down every time he touches the ball. Finally showed a real knack for snatching those rebounds (12). Had a couple sickening dunks. Even threw a nice lob to Ben. Just so aggressive. I love it.
Amir looks gooooood. Sweet jumper (hit 2 threes). Great finisher as well. Had a couple tough alley-oops. Took a few minutes to get into it, but when he did... WOW.
Delfino looked good as well. He was a little scattered at first, but he settled down after a couple minutes. He did a lot of ball handling, and ran the offense some when he was out there with guys like Amir and Acker. Looked a lot more comfortable in that role. He was hitting some jumpers today, and he had a couple nice drives to the rim too (another baseline reverse slam as well). Got into a nice rhythm. Even had a 4-point play (but missed the FT).
Alex looked pretty bad. He hit a couple pull-ups at the end, but other than that he did nothing but get lit and take bad shots.
Black Dynamite 04-17-2006, 10:40 PM Somebody wanna recap the game for me?
We got blown out.
But the Youngsters did well. Mo evans started(ugh). Delfino was ok in the first half but excelled in the 2nd half after he played pg/sg. He was pretty much doing his thing at that point and doing it well.
Maxiell tried to dunk everything. His FT still need work, but he can draw fouls like crazy. He had a double double. He also threw an alley oop to Ben wallace.
The biggest shiner was amir johnson who didnt miss a shot and had 18 points. he showed off a 3 pointer and mad hops. Looks naturally ready to get some rotation time next year possible. I dont think he should bulk up either. he's quicker than tayshan and if he improves his post dribbling, he'll be a solid addition.
Acker was doodoo. we need to draft another PG/SG. he wasnt what we hoped he would be. Maybe he'll step up next game. But im doubting it.
Mo Evans? ok in the 1st quarter(led us in scoring, but we were getting smoked out the gate), but not really doing that much IMO. but i wont complain.
Black Dynamite 04-17-2006, 10:43 PM Delfino looked good as well.
What I noticed is that he isnt a SF. we've forced that on him long enough. Put him at SG/PG where he belongs and his numbers will look better regardless of minutes. But all in all all the young guys showed up except acker. we were making a decent run until acker went dookie ugly on us. [smilie=angryfire.g:
WTFchris 04-17-2006, 10:53 PM I told you guys Acker was doodoo back in september but I was basically alone there. He's got skills, he's just lost as a PG. I told you he's like a poor mans Wagner, and look at what Wagner has done. Until Acker can learn to play PG, he has no chance. Luckily there is the NBDL for him to learn that.
Delfino looked good as well. He was a little scattered at first, but he settled down after a couple minutes. He did a lot of ball handling, and ran the offense some when he was out there with guys like Amir and Acker. Looked a lot more comfortable in that role. Next year's bench... (if lindsey retires)
PG- Delk (plays a SG role, but guards PGs)
SG- Delfino (runs the offense)
SF- Amir (Adios Mo)
PF- Dice + Max (Max NEEDS some burn. His aggressive inside play definately fills a need.)
C- Dale
b-diddy 04-17-2006, 11:28 PM no. its fun to see these young guys play, but none of them are going to have a significant role on the team.
we're not going to find a pg in the draft (at 60? lol).
maxiel looked good, but its not like he was exactly helping us win out there (not trying to bitch. he really did look good. but does that mean he can help this team win? i dont think so, not yet).
amir had a hot shooting night, but hes not a rotation player, not for the foreseeable future.
delfino looked good, but we've pretty much decided not to develop him. maybe in the offseason, but can he take minutes from delk? (no).
what a douchebag cato is. i could have got a layup around him. he put no effort in on d. im sure zeke is prepping his MLE contract as i write this, though.
Kstat 04-17-2006, 11:41 PM Amir is a 6'10" SF with range and uncanny finishing ability.
The kid has stud written all over him.
If he isnt given at leats a SHOT at the backup SF job next year, there's a problem.
b-diddy 04-17-2006, 11:43 PM well, i dont think theres a chance in the world he's our backup sf next year.
H1Man 04-17-2006, 11:44 PM How did his shot look?
Kstat 04-17-2006, 11:56 PM well, i dont think theres a chance in the world he's our backup sf next year.
Over who?
This kid vented an awesome display of talent tonight. This after making a complete joke out of the minor leagues. Tonight he proved those numbers weren't a fluke.
Look past the fact he's 18, and look at the number of ways he scored tonight. He's very capable of becoming Tay's backup next year.
Who else is there? Mo? Please.
Kstat 04-17-2006, 11:58 PM How did his shot look?
It looked pretty damn good.
It was a far cry from the ugly thing he shot from his hips in preseason. CLEARLY the NBDL stay did wonders for his form.
Both if his threes never even hit rim, as I recall.
replay's on WB20 :)
Amir's fugly jumpshot was reason for concern from what i remember from summer league. good news that he's shooting well now. can't wait to see his highlights !
Darth Thanatos 04-18-2006, 12:04 AM Goddamn Cato is huge. I'm typing from within his belly as I speak.
Think we might see him in the ECF?
Kstat 04-18-2006, 12:07 AM replay's on WB20 :)

my advice: skip the 1st half. It was real ugly.
the 2nd half is when all the fun starts.
BIG BEN'S FRO 04-18-2006, 12:10 AM Agree with b-diddy. There is no chance that Amir will be the backup SF. I think he should make the regular season roster though. If this was a lotto team that would be one thing, but he still has a ton to learn. His defense was below average, but that's to be expected right now. If the Pistons have shown us anything, its that the two way or defensive players are the ones who get the burn. The only possible argument to this is Delfino vs. Evans. Amir looked great though and really looks like a keeper.
Man how could that many teams sleep on him? What the hell were they thinking?
we're not going to find a pg in the draft (at 60? lol).
We don't need to. We've got Delk and Delfino has shown pretty much every time he's given the chance that can run an offense and get people open looks. It's not like Lindsey is a point guard anyways, and we're doing fine like that.
maxiel looked good, but its not like he was exactly helping us win out there (not trying to bitch. he really did look good. but does that mean he can help this team win? i dont think so, not yet).
Sure he can. Put him in there with a competant defensive big man (hmm.. Ben?), and watch. He can definately help us. He's the best "around the rim" guy on the team.
amir had a hot shooting night, but hes not a rotation player, not for the foreseeable future.
I agree that he's probably another year away or so, but it looks promising right now. He can hit the jumper and he can finish around the rim. What makes Mo Evans better? Mo can't defend or handle the ball either, so I don't see it.
delfino looked good, but we've pretty much decided not to develop him. maybe in the offseason, but can he take minutes from delk? (no).
I doubt Dumars has given up. Especially after he looked very good tonight. Dumars will clear out minutes for him next year, you can bet on it.
Kstat 04-18-2006, 12:48 AM Chauncey Billups--
Amir (Johnson) played good. He showed that he learned some things in his stint in the DL (NBDL). To play one half of basketball and to score 18 points is phenomenal.
lol, i love watching Delk. the dude is so trigger-happy it's ridiculous. as long as he's shooting a good percentage, i'm not complaining one bit. it's only the second half, but i love how he's not timid to get his shot off.
i hate to beat a dead horse, but Delfino is so much better than Evans, it's silly. the only time Delfino has looked bad is when 6'10" Kukoc was posting him up. even so, delfino has managed to use his quickness to cheat a bit and get steals.
Delfino looks like he's most comfortable handling the ball and he's a competent spot up shooter. OTOH, Mo is a decent spot up shooter, but atrocious handling the ball. Delfino even looks comfortable running the point.
can we PLEASE trade Mo and give all of those minutes to Delfino?? bottom line, Mo's not going to get any better. delfino, otoh, looks like he can get even better. what's the point of keeping Mo?
2nd half coming up.....i'm excited. [smilie=alpacacall.:
1:20AM......2nd half starts :D
Looking back at the highlights, I'd have to say the most impressive "play" (aside from the Max throwdowns which are always top-notch) was when Carlos split a screen, dribbled through traffic into the lane and tossed Amir a no-looker, who then threw it down on Joe Smith's head. That was a sick sequence.
Kstat 04-18-2006, 01:33 AM i hate to beat a dead horse, but Delfino is so much better than Evans, it's silly. the only time Delfino has looked bad is when 6'10" Kukoc was posting him up. even so, delfino has managed to use his quickness to cheat a bit and get steals.
Delfino needs a massive amount of minutes to get into a real groove. He isnt a 5-10 minute type player, and never will be.
I think if you moved him to backup SG to spell rip for 13-15 minutes a game, that might be enough.
As for backup SF, I'd rather let Amir try to handle that job. Delfino clearly isnt as good going into the lane as he is handling the ball.
seeing the bench guys running Flip's offense, i realize how complex it really is.
the starters are so adept at running the offense, that it looks natural. it's hard to notice the nuances of the cuts and the screens. but when the bench is it, you can really see them working the plays and options through. you can see a guy like Maxiell make a screen and then run over to another spot to set another pick. it looks more "mechanical", rather than flowing like the starters.
of course all that's to be expected.....but it's just neat to see, imo.
Delfino's spin move w/ the left handed layup that just missed was smooth as hell.........Maxiell's follow up was just NASTY.

i agree with both points. Delfino's potential contributions aren't the spot minutes/energy points. i really think his contributions are more than just numbers. he's out there calling plays and handling some PG moments.
LOL......when JMax runs into the lane to grab a board.....bodies go flying......women and children are scared....

I don't see why Flip couldn't carve out 20-25 minutes behind Rip and Tayshaun. He's not a Small Forward offensively, but he can guard them, so I don't see the problem. Give him 13 minutes behind Rip and 13 minutes behind Tayshaun, but have him in a PG/SG type of role on the offensive end.
Delfino clearly isnt as good going into the lane as he is handling the ball.
Huh? Didn't you see him today? That was when he was at his best. Coming off picks and getting into the lane to draw defenders. It would have been better if he had some better shooters around him though. He was surround with 3 rookies and Kelvin Cato. Even still, every time he got into the lane he wreaked havoc on the D. Either scoring himself, dishing off, or letting Max and Amir clean up his misses as their defenders help out. When he gets into trouble is when he tries too hard to push it on the fast break or around shot blockers. But that is something every player has to get used to on the NBA level. The only thing that will help that is experience.
i really don't think Acker has a spot on this team. so many times i forgot he was even on the floor. he just seems to lack confidence and aggressiveness. plus, for some reason he seems slow to me. obviously TJ Ford makes anyone look slow, but Charlie Bell was also routintely blowing by him.
it'd be nice to see Acker bulk up and get stronger, so he can defender better and use some strength to get his shot off.
if lindsey retires next season, i could live with a bench of Delk, Delfino, Dice, and Davis. as for back up SF......i'm still not sold on Amir being NBA-ready. i wish Maxiell could play SF, because that would be a mean lineup....but he's probably too slow to guard SFs. it'd be nice to have Mo as a minutes filler at SF/SG, but keeping him on the team just means that Delfino will get less PT. is it certain that Lindsey's retiring after this season?
Kstat 04-18-2006, 02:33 AM I'd say its a good bet this is lindsey's last year.
As for Amir, I'd wait till preseason at least to rule him out as a rotation player next year.
Really, how much more does Amir have to do to prove he deserves a chance? We sent him down to the NBDL, he chewed it up and spit it out. We gave him big minutes tonight, and he played amazingly well.
Im not sure how much more he needs to prove. If he fails he fails, but at least give the kid a chance next year.
I'll put it this way: If Darko had EVER put together a night like this, people would be begging to put him into the rotation immidiately.
Cross 04-18-2006, 04:45 AM Man how could that many teams sleep on him? What the hell were they thinking?
He was really raw and was expected to be a Jermaine type player with a year or 2 in college. Joe drafted him at a great time [smilie=applause.gi:
But there is no way hes going to get the backup spot.
Uncle Mxy 04-18-2006, 06:14 AM This "Amir can shoot a three" business is spooky shit. If he can be a three point threat consistently... ohhhh myyyy...
Kelvin Cato didn't look too bad out there. What's his value on the open market? Can we capitalize on it somehow?
Glenn 04-18-2006, 07:34 AM That's odd, I think Cato looked like absolute puke garbage.
He's so out of shape it's not even funny, it was nice to see the Pistons get some use out of Memo's old #13 jersey, on the bright side.
Cato is worthless right now, IMO. I wouldn't even have him on the playoff roster, give the spot to one of the youngsters.
On a more positive note, Amir looked like a taller, younger Latrell Sprewell out there. It will be interesting to see what he does as a follow up act against Washington.
If Tay is inactivated, would Amir get the start at SF? That would rock.
Uncle Mxy 04-18-2006, 07:59 AM To be clear, I'm not saying that Cato deserves to be even 13th man on our roster the way Amir played. But he was showing a smooth looking jumper and wasn't a total doorknob, which was a surprise.
Glenn 04-18-2006, 08:18 AM I wonder if another team has ever had 4 players set new career highs in scoring in the same game?

I know I was doing the old nod off for much of the 3rd quarter, but when I saw Amir in there I caught a second wind.
The sad thing is, I was trying to get her to chill and maybe fall asleep so I could watch the game without distraction (the wife was at the gym). So much for that.
I was kinda tired though, Easter weekend was a little rough as I had to cut down a tree.
Here I drew a picture of it.

DrRay11 04-18-2006, 10:21 AM Amir Johnson reminded me a little of Rashard Lewis last night, but with better hops and worse defense (as of now). It's hard to find a comparison for the kid.
metr0man 04-18-2006, 10:58 AM I'm kind of excited for the last game of the season. Hopefully Amir gets more minutes, Delfino gets time trying to run the offense (I like the idea of Delk and Delfino "switching roles" on offense since Delk is good at getting passes and knocking em down, while Delf does better passing and dishing and handling the ball), and JMax gets more time devouring babies and picking his teeth with their bones.
Black Dynamite 04-18-2006, 11:07 AM well, i dont think theres a chance in the world he's our backup sf next year.
