Post some of your favorite board games here. I'll get things started.

It's gotta be done-

Monopoly. Arguably the best board game ever created. I had a blast playing this as a kid it's still pretty tight today. I'm not sure if I actually ever finished a game though. [smilie=hmm.gif]

And my personal favorite-

jenga was cool. when i was in france a few years back, in the courtyard of the hotel i was staying at they had a giant jenga game. each piece was about 3x1x1 feet, and there were ladders so you could reach the top. it was pretty cool.

Believe it or not, I've never played a game of Risk or Axis and Allies. It's always interested me but no one I knew ever had the game or was down for playing it. I'm thinking I really missed out. [smilie=angry.gif]

A couple of requests-WTFChris, can you explain the concept of HeroQuest? Looks tight. Also, bangpow, how does Crossbows and Catapults work? By looking at it, I'm guessing there is some shooting/launching involved?

I'm going Nu Skool on this one-

Hilarious game where you have to imitate famous people, play charades, hum famous songs, draw "pictionary style", sculpt things out of play-doh, and many more. I was once playing with my girlfriend's family, and her mom was pointing down to her "female' region. [smilie=arrgh.jpg] Many ideas went through my head, but I was very afraid to say any of them to my girlfriend's mom. After time ran out, she yelled at me and said "It was ovaries!" [smilie=rofl.gif] Classic.

Hero quest is a game where each player takes one of the 4 heros (or more if you have less players) and you have to go thru the board killing all the monsters. You have a game master that reveals rooms, objects a guys as you open doors, etc...so you can't see the board until you would actually be able to see it. Your guy gets better as you go thru the quests, and you can make up your own quests too. It was really cool back in the day, but it's just ok probably today. I'd rather play Warcraft 3 (hero based like that, but much more advanced of course) or something like that.

A&A was way better than Risk because your units all count differently, instead of just having infantry like Risk. You have boats and planes too, and of course you can relive WWII and hope to change the outcome. The PC is pretty good (though never as fun as a live game), so you can play that if you don't have people to play with. My only beef with that is that the computers are pretty easy to beat after you get the hang of it.

Man, let me tell you about Crossbows and Catapults.

It has to be played on like a linoleum floor or something, it can't be played on carpet, and you basically set up your square mats about 10 feet or so away from each other.

You place your plastic castle on the mat and you build up your wall to protect it with the plastic blocks that are provided. The goal is to knock the castle down with the hard plastic discs that are provided by using either the crossbow or the catapult. The crossbow and the catapult are powered by rubber bands. The cool thing about that was that if you really wanted to get intense you could really go to town with the rubber bands and the crossbow would be DEADLY and a bit overeffective.

The game is sweet as hell. I mean, you take turns shooting at each others castle one at a time and they had all kinds of other weapons you could buy. They have never made a game like that to this day!

It's probably one of my all-time favorites.

Hero Quest sounds a lot like an RPG board game. Super tight. [smilie=2thumbsup.g:

Awesome! I'm pretty sure my parents intercepted any information on this game that may have come my way when I was a kid. I would have been hooked and would have done serious damage to many household items.

I dont' know if we can count poker, because I think we do need some sort of board. Also DELUXE TURNTABLE SCRABBLE? Turntables? Sweet. Do you get bonus points for words like "beat", "hook", "flow", "bling", and "ice"? [smilie=great.gif]
