NBA Expands Playoff Rosters

NEW YORK, April 11, 2006 – The National Basketball Association announced today that the league’s Board of Governors has approved the expansion of playoff rosters for the 2006 NBA Playoffs.

In the past, teams carried 12-man rosters during the playoffs. This year, teams will be allowed to carry 13-man playoff rosters although only twelve players will be eligible to play in each playoff game. Teams will be required to deactivate one player prior to each game.

NBA teams will have until 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 20 to file their 13-man playoff roster with the league office.

Does it seem odd to anybody else that this decision is just being made now, just 9 days before the rosters are due?

Seems like it's something that should have been decided long ago. Those discussions about banning tights next season must have taken precedence.

Shawn Kemp has a lot of pull in the league.

I sit Maxiell and keep Acker. If something happens to a starter we are screwed period but I think the front court is more stable with the vets. Acker would be a decent saftey valve but let's face it, if the 13th man becomes a factor we are screwed either way.

JS has a nice point. We have alot of frontcourth depth. I say we use Acker. I cant even think about Chauncey going down in the playoffs [smilie=arrgh.jpg]
