First of all don't attack me if this issue has been touched on already. However My brother and I have been looking online and there is no mention of a new Madden game for 07. So is Madden done?

EA Sports is promoting on their website a new NFL football game called Head Coach which drops June 20th or about 2 month before Madden did.

Last year I remember the NFL gave EA the exclusive rights to the NFL so unless they are going to have competing games I would think they killed Madden as a title.

If you want to change this into a NFL Head Coach discussion that is fine too.

Madden NFL 07

Also known as: Madden 07, Madden NFL 2007, John Madden Football 2006, Madden 2007
Boards Guide FAQs Cheats Reviews Previews News Features

The 2007 edition of EA's unstoppable football franchise.

NOTE: Although this game has been listed at certain retailers (and is undeniably on its way ... what would a year be without Madden?), this game has not yet been officially announced for any platform. Please check back for official word on the next Madden. Because you see here, when a game hasn't been announced yet, it's not official, and when the officials haven't made it official yet, that's going to leave everybody waiting for the announcement -- and then that announcement comes, and BOOM! And that's what that is, right there, you see.

might be a new tactic to get people hype for the game. gotta do something with no competition by default.

Also looking at the site they are still pushing Madden 06 for 360 on a relatively recent scale still.

I think they are just making the announcement later. But it is still just about April. I never even look for madden announcements until May myself. Not to mention making madden for a whole new System(360) is a whole other set of work on their schedule.

That is true and kinda what I was thinking. I mean it would be huge news for them to kill Madden after what 15 years? It has to be a bitch for them to create Madden for two new platforms 360, and PS3, while still having to make sure XB, PSP, GC, PC,PS2, etc... all are ready to go.

NFL HC may be the vechicle that allows Madden to be released in September or late August without too much bitching at the producers.

There freaking better be. Those bastards have a dividend check to cut me at the end of the year and it better include % of the cash from that cow.

There better be a freaking Madden 07. 06 for the 360 was absolute garbage. It was obviously unpolished, and was rushed out in time for the launch. I'm not really a big Madden guy anyway. I can't freaking wait for NCAA 07 on the 360! YEEEEEAH! [smilie=yourock.gif]

Don't worry, Madden '07 will be coming out.

Generally, the manufactures don't really come out with info about their upcoming games until E3 which happens in May. That's when we will be barraged with all kinds of information.

Also, Head Coach is a completely different game. It's more for the sim type crowd who doesn't like to play the games, but like to coach and manage their squad. It's not going to replace Madden at all.

However, I've heard rumors that it might not be called "Madden '07", it might just be "ESPN NFL Football", but those are just rumors. I expect it to be something along the lines of "ESPN presents Madden '07" or something like that.

EA paid way too much money for the ESPN to just have it be in-game promotion.

Bangpow just brought a point indirectly that makes wonder how they are going to handle Madden.

ESPN/ABC is the driving force behind the EA game, well Madden is gone from ESPN/ABC he is now with NBC.

So I wonder how they are going to handle that. I mean in the past Madden was with fox and CBS but EA didn't have a deal with ESPN then either. I doubt ESPN is really going to be thrilled about promoting an NBC announcer even if he is a HOF er. I would think ESPN will want to have their guys included.

I think they are going to include the ESPN license rather heavily. They did pay about $300 million for it after all. They didn't have the time time implement it in '06, but I'm sure it's going to be all over the place in the '07 game.
