I didn't want Bonds, but when he was there for me in the 11th round (106th pick overall), I just had to take him. I'm weak up the middle and in the outfield, IMO, and my bench is certainly nothing to write home about (which is often the case with rosters of this size).

I'm digging my pitching staff, especially my boy Peavy (if he can stay healthy). I grabbed Dempster only because he qualifies as a SP even though he's closing for the Cubs, allowing me to roll with an extra closer.

If we have any fantasy baseballers here I'd like to get your comments on my roster, and feel free to post yours as well.

I am in the process of making trades, so I won't post mine yet. But I did pick up Young off waivers like last year. Then he hit 3 HR's opening day and I traded him to Jagrs and went on to win the whole league. lol. I don't think I got much from him though anyway.

I am concerned with the pitching, some guys will have to have career years.

My main league goes on Saturday. It's our 7th year running, mostly with the same guys, so it's pretty competitive. Every dirty trick in the book has been pulled in this league. I can't wait but I am so unprepared this year. 14 teams, 22 rounds, so it's going to take forever.

It's a long day: I've got to do some last minute prep work tommorrow when I get up, draft's at 6:30 and then we all meet at the bars to argue over who has the best team.

The first month or so of fantasy baseball's the best, everyone still thinks they're going to win, there's no clear favorite yet, etc, etc. I wonder if me and my friends' employers have figured out the trend of productivity dropping like a rock this time of year every year because all we do is talk shit to each other on e-mail all day and watch day game box scores....

I have already picked up 3 pitchers off waivers (Chen, Wakefield, and one for Orvella who couldn't even make the Devil Rays). Plus CC got hurt opening night too, so I will have three hurt pitchers at once. Thanks to Yahoo for drafting me a bunch of broken arms.

No, I don't even have a DL spot for Burnett. We only have one DL and I have 3 pitchers hurt, plus another I dropped. And no, I'm not a Brewers fan. It was an autodraft and I did the default rankings (I'm a casual baseball fan and don't think I could do a better job ranking them).

Last year I did autodraft too, but made a lot of trades and won too. I was hoping to do the same this year. but with the DL loaded up, I doubt I'll have any commodities to trade. you have to just wait it out and hope you aren't too far behind to catch up.

You could always trade one (or two) of your DL'd pitchers to someone that has an open DL spot.

You won't get full value, but it's better than just dropping or holding them.

I used to play fantasy baseball like crazy, with 4-5 teams every year, however last year I hooked up with a keeper league, and now all of the single season leagues just don't do it for me anymore. It's finding/creating a keeper league that is the tough part as you need to have 12-16 committed managers, and that's really tough to find for one season, let alone keeping everybody on board and active year after year sorta deal.

Here's my squad. I got ambushed and had to work when one of our managers called in sick, so my draft could of gone better. I had to run around and then make my pick real quick each round. It could have been worse, though, I can work with this. I just don't like all the injury cases I ended up with.

It's a 14 team league and we run 12x12 for the categories, thus Saves and steals aren't as important. "Holds" are one of the cats, that's why I have the middle relievers.:

Walks plus Hits divided by innings pitched. Basically, it's baserunners allowed per inning but hit batsmen and guys reaching on error or fielder's choice don't count.

In my league it has a set amount of games that a you can start a player at. It looks something like this:

Now, if I forget to set my lineups, and someone isnt playing that day, do they count against me as having been played because I left them in my lineup?

No. The player has to actually appear in a game on that day. By the same token, if you have a player in that has a game scheduled for that day, but the player ends up getting the day off, it doesn't count against you.

Nice. By the looks of it, i'm doing ok so far. Just wondering. Because if I dont set my lineups the night before, I forget and I dont want to be 3 months into this and find out I cant play some guys because of that shit.

D. Lee out 10 weeks, whomever gets regular playing time at 1B for the Cubs will be a nice pickup.

I'm in a roto league that scores in both complete games and shutouts.

After he got shelled a few times, I decided to bench Aaron Harang until he showed me at least one solid performance.

I guess he showed me (complete game shutout last night, on my bench).

Hopefully it's not to the tune of costing me a win in the league. Shutouts are pretty rare, and that's leaving a lot of points on the table.

I certainly won't be getting any manager of the year votes.
