only 4 games on tonight:
Dallas at Atlanta
Washington at the Clippers
Denver at Phoenix
Sacramento at Utah
Here's the angle to the Mavs-Hawks game (besides the obvious):
Should we defeat the Mavs, we'd be even in the first tiebreaker. The 2nd tiebreaker is record vs teams in the other conference.
Detroit is 22-5 against the west, Dallas is 22-4 against the east.
Dallas has 4 games left vs the east, all on their current road trip:
3/25 at Atlanta
3/28 at Detroit
3/29 at Cleveland
3/31 at Orlando
Detroit has 3 home games left vs the west:
3/28 vs Dallas
4/2 vs Phoenix
4/4 vs NOK
Obviously, if Detroit loses to Dallas tuesday this is all moot, but if the Mavs lose one other game on this trip, we'll be within reach of the tiebreaker over them, and possibly an extra game to rest the starters at the end of the season.
The next tiebreaker is divisional record (which we currently have an edge in but it would drag things out longer)
