These are the games I'm currently playing. Let's make some reviews and recommendations so nobody misses out.

360
Fight Night Round 3--Absolutely amazing! I'm not a boxing fan at all, and I can't stop playing this game. If you have a 360, this is a must for your library.

NBA 2K6-Best looking and probably the best basketball game ever made.

Project Gotham Racing-Very, very solid racing game. Not mind blowing, but very fun, especially online.

PS2
The Matrix: Path of Neo-I must say it's a very underrated game. Not a lot of hype and review haven't been that good, but the fun factor is great and if you liked The Matrix movies at all, you'll love this game.

Resident Evil 4-Still my favorite video game of all time. (I played it through on the Gamecube, and had to check out the PS2 version) It's just as good at the GC version with some bonus features. (new guns, outfits, and a few tweaks) I have ragged on the GC controller in the past, but I'll admit it does seem to work better for RE4. A spectacular game, but it's really hard to turn on the PS2 when you have a 360 sitting there.

Up Next: Gamestop has a deal where you can turn in any 2 360 games and you get one for free. I think I'm going to trade in Madden and PGR and get The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Here's a quote that I read on a site that reviewed the game-
Buy this game immediately, and if you don't have an Xbox 360, buy an Xbox 360 just to play this game.
One word.......BOUGHT.

GTA SA

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater Online:I love it

Currently, I'm playing Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, NBA 2k6, Fight Night, and Burnout Revenge.

How is Oblivion? I see that it is getting hella good reviews. I'm usually not much of a RPG fan, but I might have to give it a run. Plus, EBGames is running a deal where if you trade in two 360 games you can get a free game. I'm thinking Madden is gone. I just can't decide whether to get rid of DOA4 or COD2. Hmmm...

I traded in CoD2 and NBA 2k6 (played the shit out of it), so my remaining games are College Hoops, FNR3, and now Oblivion. Right now, Oblivion's getting all the burn. Anyhow, umm, EB ended the deal in my area at least, so I'd go to Gamestop first (I believe they're running the same deal). But yeah, Oblivion is unbelievable (hardly a typical RPG in any sense, more along the lines of an Action-RPG such as Baldur's Gate, in my opinion).

And hell yeah, Rorschach, that is one fine she-cat.

I LOVED Baldur's Gate...that game was sick. Never got into Neverwinter Nights at all though. Back to Oblivion, the things you can do in this game are almost limitless. That type of game can overwhelm some people, but I just roll with it. I'd give it a 4/5.

OMG, I just bought Oblivion... Seriously, there is not enough time in my life for all these great games that keep rolling out. I mean GRAW is an unreal game. When people ask me about GRAW i explain that it is Socom only on steroids and ecstacy combined! And Socom was unreal! But what is more insane is that as good as the game is I am not getting a chance to play it as awesome game after awesome game keeps rolling out. Am I the only one that feels like they can't keep up with their video game hobby?

This guy, Fairdale Kings, is the man when it comes to college rosters. Last year he got NCAA 2006 early, like we did, and he had the named rosters ready for download on the day the game was released. It's kind of scary because I don't really know what else he does because he does a ton of work on rosters, but whatever, he's a good guy and vital to the community.

NFZ, I just got Oblivion a little bit ago too, and it's really all I can get into my 360 right now. Man, the sheer depth of this game in unrivaled in video game history. The maap is massive and you are free to go anywhere you please. The detail is also phenomenal. You can go into a random cavern in the middle of nowhere and you will find bonfires, crates, jars, and jugs with useful items in them. You'll also find detailed architecture in random dungeons like archways and intricate cracking in brick walls. WOW! [smilie=applause.gi:

I haven't even mentioned the gameplay yet. The first person camera is very original and really works. Again, back to the depth thing, you can play through the main story mode (which is huge fun) in about 30-40 hours, but if you choose to do side missions (like join the Dark Brotherhood, like me), and explore, you'll be putting in 120+ hours!Reeeediculous.

120+ hours of fun for 60 bucks!? [smilie=rip.gif]

If anybody is into racing and cars and such, Test Drive Unlimited has been my choice this past month or so. I definently think everyone should have a good racing game, and this is more than just racing.

It's the entire island of Oahu, Hawaii. You buy your own houses, go to dealerships to buy your own cars, and customize them as you like. It does have its flaws, but its only 40 dollars, can't beat it.

By the way, this game is the truth when you play online. Great all around game, nobody seems to ever mention it. But online is just fun as hell except for some reason theres a max 8 players. I don't like that. Every game now has to have at least 16 online players, especially with how big some of those maps are.

I'm also disapointed none of these new 360 games don't have co-operative modes or split screen, if you want to play against a lot of people you have to play online by yourself. What's up with that?

GRAW has a nice co-op mode where you can play with up to 3 of your boys on your 360, and you can also hook up to a 16 player game with all 4 of you on your system.

Are the Rainbow Six's still as technical with all the planning? The old ones annoyed me because I literally spent more time getting ready for a level than playing the level. I appreciate the realism and all, but I should spend more time running around shooting people.

Let me add that NFL2K5 has been a refreshing change of pace. Since Madden 360 kind of blows and the current gen version is the same as the previous years, it's nice to go back and get into this game. I forgot what it's like to have a game packed with features.

Just got a Wii and it's really hard to turn on the 360 now. I traded in NCAA Football and Hitman: Blood Money for the 360 and I've been playing Zelda: Twilight Princess and Wii sports. I'm thinking about trading in Madden for the 360 and getting it for the Wii.

Using the Wiimote to fish and slash the sword on Zelda is unbelievable. Bowling is probably the best game on Wii sports, although tennis and baseball are a ton of fun as well.

Also, I picked up Pocketbike Racer for the 360 from Burger King for $4. The game is an absolute steal for 4 bucks. I'd compare it to MarioKart, but with BK characters, and obviously it's a little less deep. It's really a fun game and a total bargain.

LOL...As I predicted Moodini you're very fickle :P ...Glad you enjoy it. I'm still trying to decide whether it'll be PS3 or Wii. Long term they look like the best systems out there. Wii has impressed further than I expected and I think they'll get some of the franchises I love on Playstation. but my cousin got the PS3 with that resistance and has been on it like crack. I played it for a couple minutes and I was impressed myself. Either way I think I'll wait til' may 2007 and get socom 4 instead to go with my resident evil 4, scarface, and ff12. Probably nab a gamecube for my Goddaughter.

Madden 07(the new updates give me a chance to win games online with the raiders), Red Faction II(old and cheap, so i grabbed it), Socom Combined Assault(nothing more special or newer than 3 besides the maps, but its still just as fun to play), and nba 2k7 basketball(a very average game in a basketball gaming market thats dry as a desert, its my "man with one eye in the kingdom of the blind" game).

only thing i even got the 2k7 for is the 4 player game of 21 you can play on there. Its a good group game element for friends and what not. I wish someone would make an off the hook b-ball game already.[smilie=jefffoster.:

NBA 2k7 for the 360 has been owning the shit out of me, Gutz, I don't know what you mean. Again the market is trash. So its nothing special to be the best game in it. This game is ok, not great, but definately the best option in this horrific market. but whoever said best bball game ever, i just dont see it. Its by far nowhere near that IMO.

Again I'm not calling the game bad. I did buy it afterall(used, but bought it). But the "best bball game ever" thing is pretty stretchy to me. :mccosky:

No doubt, there are some pretty big flaws still in 2k7. Post play/play under the basket is still very messy, and they need to improve Offensive AI so when you pass, instead of throwing a straight bounce pass right into the opposing player's body, they bounce pass around them and to the intended player. Plays like that are very frustrating to me, as well as some flat out retarded fadeaways when bigs are two feet from the basket. I upped the dunk tendencies, but they still do this, that needs to be improved as well. There are many other flaws, I'm just pointing to two that bother me the most.

Black Dynamite
12-30-2006, 12:30 PM
yea, honestly i mostly play 21, dont even get enthused about the franchise on it. Just a group playing game. The single player value isnt big for me.

Also the perfect game would have the dribbling from Live, the ft shooting from 2k7, the slam dunk competition from live and 3 point shootout, the game of 21 from 2k7, the penetration style from 2k7, but the shooting style from live, the face and player style moves from 2k7, but the body structure from Live, the charging foul style from 2k7, but the reach in style from Live, it would combine both games style of changing your shot mid flight(its better timing on 2k7 but looks smoother by far on live), and mix the best pregame feature from both.

Moodini31

I agree the basketball gaming market is horrific right now. This is going to be the first year I don't buy a basketball game since.....EVER!

Live is waaay too arcade and the graphics aren't up to snuff.

2K is waaay too slow and sluggish and the fun factor just isn't there.

Don't even get me started on college basketball games. There has been 1 good one in history. Coach K for the Genesis.

Well since I'm skipping hoops this year, I've been hitting Zelda:Twilight Princess on the Wii like crazy (phenomenal), Mario 64 on the Wii, (awesome, still), Wii Sports, especially bowling, (don't see it ever getting old), and Gears of War for the 360 (unbelievable). The only problem I have is when I get some time to play, I sit on the couch for about 5 minutes deciding which game to pop in.

Oh yeah, and I dowloaded the original Zelda for the NES on the Wii and my fiancee has been rolling with that like crazy. She's played for about 6 hours and has the big shield, white sword, blue ring, raft, ladder, etc. Time well spent.

God of War. Put it in and noticed my last save was in June of 06. Guess I should have gotten back to the game sooner. Took me about 5 minutes to regain most of my old form though. Inside the Pandora Temple at the moment.

BTW, Shadow of the Colossus took like 11 hours to beat. If I hadn't bought it for $20 (I'm far enough behind in my game list that I buy almost all of them in their $20 version) I would have been mad. The game play was solid but it seemed like they got an idea for a core of a game (have the main character climb on and kill these huge stone beasts) but then got lazy and decided not to create an entire game. My little brother in law got me a used xbox game for my birthday (pretty old one, but still a nice thought for his age). It's Sega baseball (with Jiambi on the cover) and it's from 2002 or something like that. The Tigers suck ass. Higgy, Young, Palmer, Fick are the highlights (which aren't totally horrible). The pitchers are pure garbage (Weaver and nothing else).

Don't see a Madden thread, but that's what I'm playing. Doing a season with Cincinatti, went 13-3 and clinched homefield throughout. Palmer finished 2nd in MVP voting behind LT. My only losses were @ Seattle 13-9, @ Baltimore 19-7 and vs. St. Louis 34-13 (don't ask, this team is beastly in the game for some reason).

Anyway I just got done playing SD in the 2nd round of the playoffs and was down 20-3 at half (I use custom sliders found off operationsports and it makes the game way more challenging). I came back to win 27-23 behind Palmer, who was friggin' robbed of MVP, and his amazing performance.

For those wondering, I'm playing the Pats in the AFC title game...winner faces the winner of the Packers/Rams NFC title game in the SB.

Resistance Fall of Man is getting better and better. I take back my Halo 3 comment. Shooter wise I like it more. Vehicle and features wise Halo 3 is still better. Its also harder as you go further and the Aliens get smarter. And I dont mean cheat you smart(which is what alot of games do to fake having better AI). I mean dodge bullets flank position smarter. With all that said its still a FPS, which will keep it from being an all time favorite. But to its credit its held my attention longer than most with the Alien Creature Sci Fi Horror value.

I tried NFS Pro Street last night. Not bad, I might pick it up. Lot better than Carbon that's for sure. Plus it's been a while since I've used my racing wheel and that makes an average racing game a lot of fun. I had to quit on TimeShift for now... you have to use a beta video driver to play it and all my other games crash with the beta, even the really old ones. Mostly I've been playing MLB 2005 (most recent pc mlb game) with all the mods to update it to the 2007 season.

Picked up Uncharted today. The game is living up to the hype so far. The graphics and cut scenes are seamless as you'll ever see in a game and yet some of the best you'll see. The story feels very Indiana Jones/National Treasure popcorn summer movie style. The controls are easy to get and smooth. And the voice acting is perfect.

i give it a 9.5/10 with final score pending of course.

I've played a couple hours of Assassin's Creed. My feelings lie somewhere in the middle of the mixed review scores it's getting. As of now, I'd give it an 8.5/10. It could be lower, but I give it about a half point for its innovation.

Final score pending, of course.

Just finished Assassin's Creed yesterday. A lot of the reviews are giving it way too hard of a time (probably from people anticipating a perfect game, which it wasn't). There are criticisms, no doubt--needs more voiceovers and variety within the missions to be something truly special.

Anyhow, as it is (I like the gameplay, originality, and story), I would give it an 8.7. If they add some more mission variety, fix the few bugs they have, add more voiceovers, and fix the other couple of problems, gamers could have something truly special on their hands.

Maybe its Call of Duty's fault but I'd rather play COD3 than Rainbow Six Vegas and Ghost recon is alot better than previous games, but doesnt standout enough to pull me from COD4.

So what do I end up with? Stranglehold. Like a John Woo action movie the plot is bland and the violence is over the top. In other words I like it quite a bit. Cheap thrill of a game though. Actually I want to call it a mAx payne Rippped Off, but actually Max Payne ripped it off first style wise from the john woo movies. If you liked Payne, i'm guessing you'd atleast halfway like it. The online is ok, but they need to remove some of the special moves from the online play. They are a lil' unfair.

Devil May Cry 4, CoD4, Resistance, and hopefully MLB The Show when that fucking gets here.

Here's what I'm doing:
I sign up for gamefly on the double game subscription. Play everything that I want that just came out within the month, and cancel the subscription. If I have time, I can probably get 4-6 games in for the month. Then, when the next batch of games comes out that I want/need to play, start the subscription up and play/beat the games. Cancel before the month passes. Rinse and repeat. This won't work with, say, Final Fantasy or shooters where I just love to play online, but for single player experiences it's only going to cost me 50-75 bucks a year.

I am quite devious.

I made the mistake of asking for NCAA Basketball 2009 for christmas. I played the demo and thought it would be an acceptable game. Boy was I wrong. Playing this reminded me why I've been a 2K fan the last 6 years.

Terrible game. Sold it on eBay for about $45 bucks and bought a copy of Left 4 Dead(should've asked for it in the first place) for about the same price. Then I re bought College Hoops 2K8. Fuck EA.

Good thing, stay away. I whored some achievements before I sold it and it ws the worst 2 hours of my life.

Some stupid shit:

-As UNC I simmed 2 years of dynasty. Went about 28-3 each year. I was a #1 seed the first year and a #2 the second. Both first round exits. Two 16 seeds made it to the final four. Just a terrible dynasty overall.

-Even on the highest difficulty settings the CPU never attacks the basket. They'll receive a pass in the lane and my guy will be out of position, giving the CPU a wide open dunk. But instead they pass it out to use some of the clock, which leads to my next point.

-Every team regardless of tempo will use 30 seconds of the shot clock before doing anything.

-Fast breaks for the user are basically non existent. If a guard receives a pass ahead of the defense, the defense always catches up and stops the break. Even the Centers catch up.

-Offensive fouls are retartedly touchy.

-There is no timing on the shoot button. No skill involved.

I've never hated anything in my life more than this game.

It sounds like its missing that disconnecting end part. I'm not sure that the 360 controllers have them, but the old XBox controllers did, so that if you pulled on the controller it wouldn't yank the system, it would just disconnect your controller until you plugged it back in

I was playing Fallout 3 today, and for like 45 minutes I was killing a bunch of Raiders on a bridge. Never in that time span did I save my game nor did I reach a place where it would auto-save. So after I killed them all, I accidently fell off the bridge and died.

Killzone 2 Demo and The MLB 09 Demo. Both are short yet amazing in quality. The graphics and lighting on MLB is magnificent, and Killzone 2 may be up there with call of Duty as an FPS for me if the rest of the game is as good as the demo(the controls take some getting used to, but i like that they brought something beyond the same COD rehash controls everyone else does).

Never been a huge fighting game guy. I did like Soul Edge in the arcade and Soul Calibur. Maybe that's because you can do easy button mashing combos on there, which makes it looks like I'm sweet. Street Fighter and I never really "jelled". I could never do the half circles and the quarter circles on the control pad to do "HADOOKEN", "AAALLYOOOUKEN" and "TESTESTESSPERUNKEN!"

But I could button mash people to bed with Chun-Li and E. Honda.

Call me crazy but I've still got unfinished dynasties on NBA Live 2006!

It's rather boring winning the title every season for 25 years - so I might have to stop playing it the 4th quarters on rookie level.

But I only play 2 games every 4 months or so cause I don't have time.

I'm also still playing Grand Theft Auto SA on xbox, again cause I don't have the time or care enough to complete (attempt) the final mission and merely spend my 10 minutes or so blowing up shit until I have a 6 star wanted level and then outrun the army.

I'm trading in a guitar worth nothing to me (probably could get 60 bucks or so for it elsewhere) and 200 bucks for the package. Once I get it, I'll sell back the new controller (50 bucks) sell Fallout, Battlefield, and MGS4 on ebay (another 75 or so). That puts me at a PS3 with MLB the Show.

200 bucks + old guitar - 125 bucks = $75 PS3 with receipt in case it f's up :D

If you factor in the guitars worth, I guess it's like a $135 PS3. Either way. Probably going to pick it up after the weekend.
