"I missed some shots that I normally make,'' said Wade, who scored 37 points against the Pistons in last month's game. "They pressured me and they got away with the things the Pistons get away with."

Miami's Dwyane Wade has vowed not to let Richard Hamilton goad him into any more offensive fouls.

Remember when the Pistons beat the Heat at The Palace in December? Hamilton frustrated Wade and drew two offensive fouls in 23 seconds.

"To me, the only time I would let somebody get under my skin, per se, is if I felt they were getting away with something I couldn't get away with," Wade told the Miami Herald. "I feel like if I touch him they're going to call a certain call, and if he touches me, they're not calling it. That's the thing with Rip. He tries to get into you coming up the court and play that game to get in your head. It worked once. It ain't going to work too many times."

Yeah.

Sure.

Correct me if I'm wrong - it wouldn't be the 1st time - but isn't Wade a league leader in getting to the free throw line - and doesn't Wade realize the home team will get a few more close calls, just like he does almost every single time he touches the ball against the Pistons in Miami?

Last night Wade shot the 2nd most FT's of both teams (chauncey was first).

STFU, Wade.

this coming from someone who's on the same team as Shaq....the walking offensive foul.

No surprise there.

Is there a single good person on the Heat? When Indiana was our main rival, they at least had some class (EXCEPTION: ARTEST, JO, JACKSON, JONES... okay so maybe just Reggie was okay). There isn't a single player for Miami that can even define class.

Wayne Simien, Undonis Haslem I don't hate either of them.

Haslem has gotten on my nerves occassionally, but he is a hustle rebounder guy, and that I can respect.

Shaq, Wade, Walker, JWill, and Flexo, can't stand any of them.

Walton goes on and on about Wade's body then the camera cuts right to Ben, who has a much better body.

Yeah it's called tough defense. The guy is ridiculous. He's just damn lucky Shaq is with him in Miami, or he wouldn't get nearly the amount of calls he gets. Nobody deserves more free throws than AI.

He probably doesn't like chasing Rip around either...

It seems like part of the problem with the NBA is that the majority of players/teams will sit back and watch the other team's star player abuse them, insteead of d'ing up on him. To make matters worse, guys give star offensive players a break on the defensive end.

Its like they think if they don't try, and they get owned, then they can still hold their heads up high (see Toronto vs. Kobe's 81 points).

In other words, Wade is used to his opponent sitting there and watching him dominate, instead of guarding him and... dare I say... even making HIM work on the defensive end.

Its quite upsetting.

If I were Wade, I'd hate the play a team that not only has the unmitigated gall to actually guard him, but to add insult to injury by actually making him guard them on the other end of the court, too.

Damn that Rip Hamilton.

Why can't he just let Wade score, and then take a few plays off on the other end of the court, so Wade can save his energy for posterizing him with dunks?

Why does Detroit not just sit back and watch Wade operate, like 90% of the rest of the league?

Why are we such assholes?

I still find it hilarious that Rip has figured out most of his moves and can even anticipate some of them. Like for the 3rd straight game Wade tried that pump fake jumper where he tries to jump into his defender for a foul. and Rip just got out of the way and let him miss badly for the 3rd time. Of Course this time Wade was hoping for a "he breathed on me" foul, which wasnt gonna happen.

Rip may have trouble against the power guards of this league still. But against the quick guards like Wade his defense has been superb.

Christian (Houston): What are your thoughts on Dwyane Wade's emergence this year. I think he is the best player in the league.

Chris Sheridan: (12:50 PM ET ) He is the second coming, and just like Jordan, he needs to figure out how to get past the Pistons.

so long as we've racked up a few championships while he's figuring it out....i'm ok.

but then again, by the time he's "figured out" things Shrek will be 500lbs...

I still think Wade's a great player, even though he whines.

Clearly, we take Miami to school if Wade keeps complaining

not as great as advertised. his range is questionable and he depends on the refs to save him on nights he can't get to the whole. nothing great about that,

He hasn't learned.

If he would've watched Reggie or Kobe or TMac, he'd learn that he has to kick his leg into you while he's pump fake jumping to draw the phantom foul.

Shaq strong, but Pistons win
By Bill Walton
ESPN Insider

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The latest clash of the Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat was a tale of two games, first half and second half.

In the end, the final story was how the Pistons rallied for an 82-73 victory Wednesday night.

Miami couldn't capitalize on one of Shaquille O'Neal's strongest performances of the entire season, scoring 27 points while playing his most minutes in a single game this season, 43.

Detroit's Tayshaun Prince was the key performer in this matchup. His anticipation in the passing lanes was good, and his length gave him unique capabilities. He's the key player as far as separation goes when you watch these teams going head to head.

It was a difficult night for Miami's Dwyane Wade, who had a badly sprained right wrist from the game Tuesday against the Timberwolves. Wade had a horrendous night shooting, 3-for-15 from the field. He took eight free throws, but in a big game, you need to get him going from the line.-Bill laying the wade excuses on thick He did have nine assists, but his five turnovers certainly hurt.

This was Shaq's night. Dwyane is normally the big fourth-quarter performer for Pat Riley and the Heat, but he was not up to the task tonight. Fatigiue? Yes. Injury? Yes.

Miami has only itself to blame. The calf injury to Alonzo Mourning, the inability to sustain its effort, and the lack of getting the ball to Shaq did them in.-wait its their own fault zo was injured? Other than Shaq, the team's fourth-quarter shooting was 2-for-17.

Give the ball to Shaq.

In the first half, Detroit's Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton -- they couldn't do anything right, and the team was held to a season-low 35 points in the first half. But the second half though was a completely different story.

When it was all on the line, a huge run for Detroit keyed by a couple of guys, Prince and Antonio McDyess, who scored ten points between them in a run that gave Detroit a 72-66 lead with 4:49 to go.

Now we look forward to the April 6 meeting in Miami. This game gives a push to the Detroit Pistons, who can't be happy. Chauncey Billups told us after the game that he was not pleased how they played. They've got to sharpen it up. McDyess was decent. They need more from the bench guards, Lindsey Hunter, Maurice Evans, Tony Delk.

For Miami, nothing in the standings, but they showed that for two quarters that with Shaq rolling and everything going right, they certainly have the chance to come in here and unseat what will be the regular season top team in the East, the Detroit Pistons.-damn i thought they showed that if WE stink it up for two quarters they have a chance.
