Whats the deal with the calf injury?

I hope it's career ending with the way that Ahole tries to break peoples arms on the floor.

its a torn calf. out indefinitly. riley looked none too pleased.

zo should retire. if he has surgery, or comes back too soon, he's going to blow out another kidney.

seeing how he already got a pretty big gift once (probably letting someone else die in the process) he should probably do the considerate thing and look at his long term health.

Kstat
03-22-2006, 11:33 PM
Not really fair to accuse Zo of "letting somone die." Anybody here would have gladly accepted the kidney in his place.

OUt for at least the rest of the regular season means Shaq is going to play crazy minutes unless Miami says screw the regular season, just do enough to clinch their division(I believe they are up by 7 games on Washington) and gear up for the post season...

I didn't see the play - can any Pistons be blamed for the injury??

No, there was no contact on the play, Zo was jumping back from a player and just landed badly i guess. edit: actually it turns out he landed fine, it wasn't an ankle sprain, a torn calf.

I certainly dont wish any serious injury on the guy, even though I think he's a jackass, it gave me pleasure to deny him a championship last season. I wouldn't mind if he sat out the rest of the season.

Mourning is lucky that there is five weeks yet until the play-offs. He'll come back rested and ready to ball. Of course Shaq will be dead tired, even if they play Doleac as much as possible.

the injury looked like it was just a freak thing that happens, especially to older dudes.

and kstat, you might be right, but i have no simpathy for athletes who jeopardize their health by pounding a thousand pain killers a day (even though i've praised chauncy for it--looks like im quite the hypocrite).

i also have no simpathy for people who drink all the time and do drugs and then have no kidney.

people should treat their bodies with more respect. organs should be given to the truly needed, not to the people who consciously to fuck up their body and then bank on a pretty big gift from someone who likely made the good decisions that the donee didnt.

ps: i think its hightime that we creat a forum of me preaching ethics and morals. i'll also dable in politics and health, but mostly ethics and morals.

Someone mentioned this ona Heat board- how big of an asshole does Shaq look like right now for forcing Zo to wear himself out last night in Minnesota?

The calf injury could easily have been a cumulative effect from overuse. The mis-step might have just been the final straw.

If you look at the replay, it's as if his calf just reached its limit and bottomed out on him.

I was listening to streaming audio of the Heat post game because the last two times I have tried to listen to DFN's post game or game coverage it cuts out. The fans are blaming Shaq for being a lazy peice of over hyped shit and making Zo play more than he should have.

It is funny how the fans love Zo and loathe Shaq and see him for what he is or has become.

I'd be all over that, if I had the time to commit. But given the subject matter I prolly wouldn't have the time required.

I hadn't thought about it enough to put it together but that's hilarious if Zoe's out for the season because Shaq wanted to rest up for tonights game. What an ass.

I suspect this is what they will do.

They can't really improve their playoff positioning anyway, so it makes no sense for them to play Shaq anymore than needed. I would look for Simien and Doleac to get some extra PT.

NJ is only 5 losses behind Miami, and Miami still has to play them in NJ. They aren't locked in yet.

THey sit shaq and it could result in them blowing home-court advantage in round 2.

Bubbles for ROY.

If there has ever been a basketball player more interested in injuring his opponent than Zo, I'd like to know who it is.

He's the only player in the league I wish injury on.

I hope he's done for his career, so the rest of the league is safe from his elbows, hips, forearms, fists, knees (and his constant flexing when he saves the ball from going out of bounds, or makes a bounce pass, or hits a free throw, or dribbles the ball, or sits on the bench, etc.).

You know what?

I could care less about that bullshit excuse.

The reality is, even if its the other team's 12th man was the only one injured, people will make excuses as to why the Pistons winning a title was a fluke.

I say fuck it. Let everyone on every team we be injured, including the coach, let the Pistons win the entire NBA championship by forfeit, and I'll be happy.

What's the difference?

Yeah, seriously, fuck those excuses. Seriously, if a team wants to take on a piece of glass like Baron Davis, Jermaine O'Neal or Jamaal Tinsley, whose fault is it when they gets hurt?? Everyone knew they'd get hurt.

If a team wants to take on a nutball like Ron Artest, whose fault is it when he goes crazy? It was bound to happen and they took that chance when they picked him up.

If a team wants to count on a bunch of fossils and fatasses like Zo, Shaq, Payton and Fatoine, whose fault is it when it doesn't work out??

It sure as hell isn't the Pistons fault.
What's underrated about our organization is that we haven't just put together a great core of players, we've also kept in place one of the best training and medical staffs in the business and haven't reached in adding lesser charactered individuals. It's the little things like that that put teams over the top.

I'm never happy to see anyone get an injury that threatens their career or long term health in any way.

In this case though, all it does is sideline him for a few weeks and hurt miami's chances in the playoffs. Not only do I welcome it but I send out a big LOL-a-gram to miami.

News out of Miami is that an MRI revealed a partial tear, and that Zo Mourning will miss 2-4 weeks. NOw being that there is four weeks left in the regular season, I think it would be in Miami's best interest to sit Zo until the play-offs and don't allow him the possibility that he could come back sooner and in the process of rushed rehab, injure it worse.

Miami is up six games on New Jersey in battle for the No.2 seed and up 10 on Washington for top seed in their division. They're pretty much locked into the two-seed.

I wouldn't play Shaq anymore than his 3ompg he's been playing this year either, use Doleac/Barron and take any losses that may result with a grain of salt.
