The Suns were 52-17 last year and finished what 62-20?I bet some of their fans thought that they had nothing to worry about going into the offs.

Good thing we aren't phoenix and we're not 52-17 then.....

Also good we aren't a team with no championship experience.

We're a team thats scoring alot, not playing any defense and not rebounding. Sounds a lot like last years Suns.

Just because you've been there dosnt mean you're going there.

No but it sure as hell is a world of difference from never having been there before.

Our guys have been their before but so have the Spursl. The Heat's coach and the Heat's best player have multiple titles. The Mav's coach has title experience. We aren't going to be facing a bunch of chumps. These guys need to get their act together.

Yeah, but a few easy wins in any round of the playoffs and those bad habbits that they're developing now start to creep back in and before you know it, an easy searies turnes into a competitive one.

...so they can worry about them in 2 months, when they actually have to play them....

They play the suns mavs and heat in the next week or so. They have plenty of time to practice.

name the last "easy" playoff series this team has ever had. I'd really like to know.

the 04 finals? that's really it.

If the Pistons continue to play like this we won't have to worry about those guys at all because we'll get eliminated in the 2nd round.

could say that at this point last year too.

The fact is that won't be the case so no point in stressing over it.

The bucks 2 years ago in round 1 was a cake walk, the sixers last year while not as easy as the bucks, still a cake walk

Nobody who remembers either series would describe them as a "cake walks".....

Bucks stole homecourt in game 2 and were up double-figures in both games 3 and 4 before we pulled out victories.

ANd the Sixers series was a missed willie green FT away from going 6-7 games.

The Philly and Indy series should have been really easy but the guys took their foots off the gas pedal in several games of each series.

Ksat, you keep referencing how we were playing last year compared to this year as if that's a good thing.

Last year: we struggled against the Pacers without Artest, we barely escaped the Eastern Confrence Finals, and we lost in the Finals to the Spurs.

Does that sound like something you want to repeat?

The year we won the championship, we went on an absolute massacre of the league after the all-star break. We set MULTIPLE all-time NBA records, and blew motherfuckers out left and right. We came into the playoffs on a tear of epic proportions. Teams were actually scared of us. We just didn't get the same media attention because we didn't put up impressive offensive numbers, were a relatively new team, and played in the eastern confrence back when it was still a joke.

But we set those records and slaughtered opposing teams with our DEFENSE! This is a defensive team. Flip can push his offensive agenda all day and night, but when it comes down to what will win us another championship it's going to be that trademark Pistons' defense that I haven't seen an ounce of this season.

1. We cant play defense like we did in 2004 because of the rule changes. It's that simple.

2. Milwaukee NJ and Indiana weren't "scared" of us in the playoffs that year either.

You also didn't have players(O'Neal, Jermaine and Arenas, Gilbert) and fans of opposing teams hoping to play us in the early rounds either.

I'm betting the West would rather see us in the Finals than Miami right now, and I'm betting all of the 7-8 seed candidates would rather play us over Miami in the first round right about now.

No, you had Damon Jones saying he wanted to play us. Much better.

And if you really think any of those guys really want to play us, you're just being a chicken little. Miami has beaten Indiana once in the last 6 years. They have a much, much better track record against them than they do us.

yet we're still top tier defensively in this league. the rule effected the whole league all the same so IMO we are still a team thats better suited making defense a priority.

In fact we arent good enough offensively to washington in a shootout for a 7 game series or any running team in the west.

in the games we won in the first part of this season we played some defense. not as much as we shoulda IMO. But better than lately. lately its been ugly.

That's totally different than saying it's possible for us to go back to being playing the same defense we did in 2004.
that defense isnt even a requirement. any sane person knows that. the rules changed for everyone. so to be more correct we should be playing like the best defesive team in the which we still are IMO. but we are hesitant to put our best defensive players out on the floor in hopes of keeping the offense at an extreme level the whole game. its a bad compromise IMO .

1. I never said we had to. Anybody who's watched basketball in the last 2 years knows about the rule change, Columbo. They're not even playing the best possible defense that they can under the new rules. they're playing sub-par D in a league with dilluted defense. That is sad.

2. That had absolutely nothing to do with my point.
