Here's the level of competition that we have faced in March
Nuggets
Sonics
Lakers
Bulls
Wizards
Bobcats (twice)
Raptors
Knicks

Assists, steals and blocks per game have been fairly consistent each month, so I have not included them in this.

If somebody can find our defensive FG% by month, I will add that here.

My conclusions:

The offense is clicking, but it's at the expense of the defense/rebounding. We're shooting a very high % from both three point territory and from the field in general, yet we've already lost more games in March than in any other month this year (and it's only 3/20). When you look at the poor competition that we've played this month while compiling these stats, there is definitely cause for concern, IMO. We're actually getting outscored by our weak opponents this month.

Perhaps the decline in our FT% is a sign of fatigue (starters playing too much).

If our threes weren't falling as much as they have been, we could easily have a losing record this month. We're not going to continue to shoot 43% in threes through the playoffs, that's for sure.

The other obvious conclusion is that Flip's "new" rotation is heavily weighted towards offensive bench players, maybe too much.

If anyone wants to add any additional stats that compare monthly performance YTD, that would be nice. I look forward to hearing what some of you guys think about these stats.

It's an issue with our offense. That's all. We just need to focus offensively and make crisp cuts and smart passes.

Check the recent McCosky article.

Why worry?

I coulda told you this w/o seeing the stats. But selective stat guys like kstat probally didnt want to see this.

Defense is bad and defenders are punished by Flip. Delfino is probally best perimeter defender on the team. A quality thats useless to Flip. Once again hunter only gets a lil' time on seniority and having been a big part of the title team. let him be a recently signed this year FA pickup he gets the pine.

Is there a parrot in here?

Maybe we all need to put this in our sigs?

This is the article I was talking about.

Flip doesn't say "its an offensive problem". He doesn't really say anything. But he definately is silent as to the defense, hence McCosky has to quote Ben as to the defensive problems.

"We aren't worried about putting points on the board," Ben Wallace said. "Defense is what we hang our hats on. Our game is holding teams down, not allowing them to get into their sets, not allowing them to just walk down and catch the ball wherever they want it. Our game is to make teams fight for every inch of the court. We haven't been doing that of late and it's time to get back to it."

Damn, I didn't even know about the McCosky article when I decided to do make this thread. I guess I didn't need to bother. lol

I think Rip and cbill are gonna take Flips side 24/7. they love being more offense oriented.

"Our ultimate goal is to win a championship," Richard Hamilton said. "And we know what it takes to win a championship. Sometimes it's hard coming down the stretch, for the simple fact that we know what's out there. We know how exciting the playoffs are, then you have to come in and play teams like New York, the worst team in the NBA, you just don't have the energy that you are supposed to have to try and win a game.

"It shouldn't be no excuse, but that's the way it is."
Lamest excuse i've heard from Rip. the old "i dont wanna make excuses but my excuse is..."

Delfino played eight minutes Saturday and probably will get more this week. Saunders' plan is to play Delfino against bigger swingmen (such as Atlanta's Al Harrington and Miami's Dwyane Wade ) while Maurice Evans gets the nod against smaller, quicker swingmen.
theres a problem in this. mo cant guard either/or.

My conclusions:

- Flip's a moron.

- As is the rest of our coaching staff.

- We are overly dependent on offense (jumpers and 3balls) while neglecting defense and rebounding in general.

- Our bench is under-utilized and misused.

- Tayshaun Prince has been MIA for most of the season. The last few games don't change what he hasn't been doing all season.

- Our perimeter oriented play has reduced the effectivenes of Prince, Dyess, Ben to almost a level where they are useless.

- We lack discpline and focus.

- We bitch about every fucking call even though we get the benefit of doubt on most calls. Sheed deserves almost every foul and every Tech called on him.

BTW Did I mention that Flip is a moron?

I could care less what ANYONE has to say. Flip, Billups, RIP, even Joe can talk, and talk, but when BIG BEN FUCKING WALLACE SPEAKS, that is what I go by.

He says the defense needs to improve, then you can bet your ASS the team will heed his words.

Ben knows it, thus the team will listen.

I expect a FULL-OUT defensive slaughter against the Hawks tonight.

Flip has ZERO room to manuvere when Ben speaks. He might as well be a puppet with Bens hand up his ass.

I dislike Flip more and more every second. Every game. Every assinine post game comment blaming "offensive execution" for a game you lose 103-105. Every "cut and paste" quote/excuse he feeds to the media. Every minute he plays Mr. No D while Carlos DNPno rots on the bench.

Agreed 100%. I just posted this same thing in a Spurs forum.

I hope that's true.
