How about some humility?

We all make a lot of predictions and share our strong opinions here, and goddamn it, lots of time we're right on.

But then there are those other times...

--Before the season, I thought the Knicks were going to get the #8 spot in the East. I was wrong.

--I had a debate with The Archdiocese right before the All Star break about Yao Ming not being a deserving starting center in the West. I was wrong.

--I bought the hype from both the local media (and Kings fans) about the Mo Evans signing being the "steal of the offseason". I was wrong.

--I thought for sure that when (not if) Joe finally traded Darko, that he'd get a rotation player, specifically a backup for Tay for our title run. I was wrong. (Don't come with the Delk thing, technically, he wasn't part of the deal)

I'm sure I'll either come up with more, or someone else will point some out for me.

Go ahead and post some of the things that you have been wrong about in the NBA this year.

Looks like I was wrong about this being an interesting thread. lol

So much for humility.

I was wrong about Delfino making his way into the bench rotation.

I was wrong that Utah would be good (damn you Boozer and Sloan).

I was wrong that the Clippers would be more of a threat (to the West) than the Suns w/o Amare.

I am always wrong when trying to spell Dawayne Wade's first name.

I was wrong about the show "Blow Out" being about gay porn (its on Bravo, I thought that was a sure thing).

I was wrong that LB would make the Knicks better this season.

I was wrong (so far) about the Bulls being better than the Bucks.

I was wrong in thinking that Delf would get proper PT under Flip.

I was wrong that the Pistons would suffer a learning curve under Flip Saunders, have a relatively mediocre regular season, and slip into the playoffs as an underdog.

I was wrong that I thought a couple of my predictions would be wrong.

I'm right about everything.

*Save for maybe the Mo Evans thing. He IS a Good fit here, Flip just seems confused as to what position he plays.*

I was wrong about the Rockets being a 4th seed in the playoffs behind SA, Denver and Phoenix (though injuries are probably the excuse there)

I also thought Evans was a steal. he's actually a great 10th man to have, Flip is just using him over a better player (delfino), so I'm not sure I'm really wrong about him. I like Evans, I just think he's a better Darvin Ham, and Flip thinks he's a quicker Corliss Williamson.

I was wrong about the knicks too. I thought LB could pull out an 8th seed. I didn't think they had playoff talent, but I thought LB could do enough with guys like Ariza, Frye and Robinson to squeeze an 8th seed out.

I also thought we'd/Flip would start out slow and we'd end up about the 4th best record in the NBA but still be in the finals.

- I thought Charlie V would be the worst lottery pick ever. I'm never good at predicting shit like that, so I don't know why I told folk that. I thought Luol Deng would bust as well.

- I thought the Knicks would be around be a 6th seed. That prediction has failed.

- I thought Darko was going to be good this year.

- I thought Ben Wallace would lose a step.

- I thought the Rockets would be competing for the 1st seed. Ugh.

- I was wrong when I thought playing under flip would be a shaky transition from the lb era.

- I was wrong in saying tayshaun needed to be benched -- it was out of frustration, but lately he's shown why he's a valuable starting asset.

- I was wrong in thinking delf's defense resurgence would get him more playing team (being that was the teams philosophy before flip).

Shit, there's probably more to come, I just can't think of them right now.

I know that this is not "You were wrong" but I couldn't resist this one.

From Matt's blog on pistonsbball on Nov. 1, 2005...

Mark my words: this bench will be the best and most revered in the NBA this season.

-I thought the hornets would be horrible this year.

-I thought Houston would be the 2nd best team in the west.

-I thought the Bucks would win 50 games.

-I thought Larry would whip the knicks into a playoff contender.

-I thought Darko would grow up.

-I thought Phoenix would be a .500 team without Amare.

-I thought Seattle and Golden State would be playoff teams.

-I thought Cleveland would win 55 games.

since i already had a thread where i mentioned some of the things i was wrong about (not limitted to that list), i'll mention some good calls by me.

earlier this summer i was one of the VERY few who said gerald wallace would be a steal for the MLE, and was not 'a rich man's ron dupree' like many on here said. but those threads are gone forever, so just take my word for it.

on realgm, i correctly predicted the 8 eastern playoff teams during the first week of the season (not sure if that deserves much credit). maybe i'll pull that thread back up over there.

hmm... cant think of anything else i've been right about. next year we'll all be saying the darko trade was BS, and i'll be right about that too.

- I was wrong in thinking that Arroyo would be a good fit in Flip's offensive scheme.

- I was wrong in thinking Tayshaun would take a step forward and be our MVP this season.

- I was wrong in thinking JJ was going to be bust in Atlanta. A good player but nowhere near as good as he has been.

- I was wrong in thinking Houston would give SA a run for the 1st seed in the WC.

- I was wrong in thinking Phoenix would be a .500 team without Amare, JJ and QRich.
