View Full Version : Greatest NCAA Tournament Memory
Baker 03-16-2006, 03:41 PM This time of the year always brings back great memories. Seems like some of the greatest sports moments of all time have come courtesy of The Big Dance. Jimmy V sprinting out on the court with his hands in the air, "The Shot" to take down Kentucky, One Shining Moment with Cleaves (Yes, I'm extremely biased).
What is your favorite tournament memory/memories?
Kstat 03-16-2006, 06:02 PM The crazy finish with Syracuse and Georgia in 1996 when the lead changed hands 4 times in like the last 15 seconds.
Jethro34 03-16-2006, 06:44 PM I was telling Tre earlier today, before I knew this thread existed, that I'll always remember Bryce Drew's magic.
Darth Thanatos 03-16-2006, 06:52 PM Chris Webber timeout. I was pretty young when that happened, but man was I PISSED!
Artis Gilmore 03-16-2006, 07:14 PM Not a lot from me since I'm so young, but it was last year when Illinois was down 15 with like 3 minutes left against Arizona in the elite 8, and came back and won in OT. That was crazy.
Baker 03-17-2006, 10:58 AM My best tournament memory was watching the "One Shining Moment" video and seeing Cleaves and Izzo crying while watching it. I'll never forget that. That was the first moment that it actually hit me and I realized that after years of waiting, the Spartans were the National Champions! And seeing Mo Pete up on the ladder holding up the sign, "This one's for you grandma (who passed away 2 days earlier)" got to me. I'll admit it.
My favorite moment in person was that same year. I attended the Regional Final at the Palace between MSU and Iowa State. That place was nuts! Seeing them cut down the nets and bring out Antonio Smith to cut the last piece was amazing.
Moodini31 03-18-2006, 09:28 PM The Fab Five's OT victory in the 1993 Final Four vs. Mashburn and Kentucky. That game was back and forth the entire game and I had a supertitious routine where I would have my mini basketball in the front room where I was watching the game, and at each T.V. timeout I would do a crossover dribble and go behind my back as I dribbled down the hall and I'd finish with a finger roll on my hoop in my room. Like I said, the game went to OT, so I was working the finger roll a ton and sweating it out. Great memory.

Maybe I should have been doing my dribble moves and finger rolls 2 days later vs. Carolina or on a continuous loop for the past 13 years and maybe Michigan basketball wouldn't be jicked like it is today.
Baker 03-20-2006, 01:10 PM What is the Fab Five? Don't remember them.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

I expected that.
And hey Tre, what happened to your location of "We Laugh Last", and your sig saying "You know what month it is."? I think someone hacked into your profile and deleted it or something. We'll have to start a WTF investigation.

Jethro34 03-20-2006, 04:13 PM What is the Fab Five? Don't remember them.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
They were a team that took advantage of mid-majors that couldn't make free throws. But then, you wouldn't understand that.
Also a couldn't resist reply.
Baker 03-21-2006, 08:42 AM They took advantage of mid-majors? When? When did they play? I still don't remember them.
Sucks when your greatest memory is of a team that has absolutely no proof that they even existed.
MoTown 03-21-2006, 11:01 AM Tyus Edney's 4 second end to end shot is the first thing that comes to mind when I think about March Madness.
Glenn 03-21-2006, 11:03 AM Rumeal Robinson at the free throw line.

I've never been a UCLA fan, but that was a great moment.
Rumeal Robinson at the free throw line.
I'm not trying to be funny. I honestly don't remember this game. But, that had to be a killer moment. I can't imagine watching my team shoot free throws for the freaking National Championship. Absolutely amazing. I think I would have had a heart attack.
