This weekend is the 3rd anniversary of the War in Iraq

Its time for the people of the world to show what we really think of the governmental policies of America and its allies in the war on Iraq. Im not saying to agree or disagree with the war. If you do agree with the war...go to a pro-war protest (if you can find one)...if you disagree with the war...go to a local one.

www.unitedforpeace.org lists thousands of protest that will be going on in your area in the coming weekend.

35,000 Iraqi civlians have been killed. It is an outrageous figure, and it grows everyday. As much as a liberal as i am, i wouldnt have moved an inch if America where to choose drilling oil in Alaska if I had known that this war would have gone on this long, this bad, and take so many lives.

Iraq is now in a civil war. And dont tell me its not true, i stayed up all night watching google news refresh itself, and every time i visited the headline would say 10 more people had been murdered.

It &*^%ing amazes me how America can spend months addicted to a story about a missing white girl, see it everywhere, newspapers, magazines, CNN, and then we go to a country and kill 35,000 of them. Wheres the public attention involved in that?

Chosing to do or not to do this is going to be very important if you are an american against the war. We have to send a message to the world that the majority of the American people dont want our troops in Iraq because right now that message isnt very clear.

I encourage you and people you know to participate. Spread the word.

If I thought anything productive would come from going to an anti-war protest, I'd be there in a second.

However, none of the protests will change this administration's views on whether or not we should be in Iraq and quite frankly, the rest of the world won't change their mind either. It really doesn't matter that most people in this country are against the war, the rest of the world has their preconcieved notions one way or another about the "Evil Empire".

It's probably a shitty attitude to have and I understand that but IMO, it would be just a waste of time.

As far as your second point, I agree completely that there would be a much greater public outrage if people had half a clue what was going on over in Iraq. It's amazing how clueless this country is.

Good Luck though.

Sadly, I'm in the same boat. I just feel like protests are more for people to make themselves feel better about a situation that they have absolutely no control in. A defeatist attitude, but that's how I feel as well.

Yup.
And thats exactly how'd the government likes it in the majority's preference. But dont get me wrong, i agree that its typically a rough thing to find reason to kick out a picket sign. But how meaningless would it be if 1 million people were marching? But won't happen. theres probally 20 million saying whats being echoed here. Just the way the government likes it. I know the government hated the 70's. too much coming together(and stank ass pot *lol*) [smilie=anxious.gif]

More power to Dylan if he goes. It shows you to have a sense of being about your shit when you feel the need to. And at the same time i feel waydowntownbang and Trainwrecks responses. All this turmoil in the brainwashed society was enough to get me voting as of late, maybe i'll talk myself into some hippie protests here and there. [smilie=artist.gif] maybe not. In East Lansing we had about 80 people on campus demonstrating...there where a lot of support by the cars passing...I saw about 2,000,000 peace signs and 5 fuck you's. What sucks is a shitload of news people where there and i called in sick to go to it...so ill probably lose my job, because i probably was on the news.
