View Full Version : Sleeper/Guilty Pleasure Games
Moodini31 03-07-2006, 08:22 PM Post a few of the games that flew under the radar and maybe you're a little afraid to admit that you played them. I'll get things started.

Uniracers. Great game for SNES. Believe it or not, it was an early precursor to SSX. Racing with tricks that caused you to speed up. Super tight!

Kirby's Dream Course for SNES. Pretty much a putt-putt golf game, but Kirby is the ball and can obtain special ablilities such as flying, breaking through barricades, and the ability to freeze the water hazards and slide across them. What's more fun than putting a little backspin english on Kirby? Awesome.

One of the best games of all time for any system EVER.
I recently downloaded a ton of roms just because of this game.
It's so fucking entertaining. It rules.
MoTown 03-08-2006, 09:42 AM Bad Fur Day had me laughing my ass off the entire time I played it.

Moodini31 03-08-2006, 11:03 PM Never really understood what "PaRappa" was all about. Please explain. I never played Conker either. I'll have to figure out a way to check it out. Wasn't there like a bunch of swearing and stuff in it? One of the first "M" rated games before there was a game rating system?

I beleive so. I had the "clean" version for n64 but forgot the name.
Moodini31 03-10-2006, 12:43 AM This isn't reall a "sleeper" game, but it did not get nearly as much hype as games like Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear, Halo, etc. This game is not to be missed by anyone. IMO, and everyone I know who has played it believes this game is a classic, one for the ages. If you don't have a PS2, this game is worth buying the system for.

GOD OF WAR
You play Kratos, a tortured warrior during the Greek mythology era. You sell your soul to Ares, the God of War to save your life and become unhappy with the deal. You battle against some of the most famous foes in Greek mythology with the help of the Gods to ultimately destroy Ares. Here are a few epic screen shots.

Staring down the gigantic Ares as he destroys Athens.
H1Man 03-10-2006, 12:48 AM God of War, to me, is the best game on the PS2.
Waydowntownbang 03-10-2006, 02:00 PM I'm not sure if it qualifies as I don't think it was overlooked, but I spent over 100 game DAYS (not hours) on Final Fantasy XI, the online game. Getting me to stop playing that almost took an intervention.
Glenn 03-10-2006, 02:07 PM Used to play Gilligan's Island on Sega Genesis in college.
Gilligan would always screw up my chances of getting off the island.
Lots of Toejam & Earl, too.
Anthony 03-10-2006, 02:43 PM Does the sims count?

FFXI was dominating my life for a while too. But then I got a real job and didn't have time to play anymore. That sucked. [smilie=angry.gif]

Moodini31 03-11-2006, 03:59 AM [smilie=applause.gi: Gutz! Great one man! That game was one of the wierdest games I've ever played but it was freaking awesome. Your vehicle could jump(and hang in the air), shoot, and get special attacks. Sometimes the view would change to that tunnel pic that you posted. Excellent work bro. [smilie=2thumbsup.g:
Mikey 03-11-2006, 01:03 PM I've never understood the concept of a "guilty pleasure." If somebody likes something, why should they feel guilty because of it?

its to refer to the machoism standpoint of im too cool to find enjoyment in this. yet i do and im guilty about. of course its exaggerrated for dramatic effect. no one actually feels guilty. its just a term of endearment. like snakes on a plane.
