I will be shocked if we can pull out a win tonight. Both teams played last night, but Detroit is travelling and it's the last game of a grinding stretch of games. They don't play again until the 8th I believe, after tonight and then not to the 11th.

Keys to victory:

1. Keep Kobe near his average, and make the rest of those scrubs beat you.

2. See above.

3. Don't forget #1, above.

4. Did I mention that they will win as long as they keep Kobe near his average, and make the others beat them?

5. All of the above.

Any player that was going to come down the lane at that point in time, I was going to let him know that he just can't walk through there," Bryant said after the game. "I think we as a team have to do a better job of establishing that. And me, as a leader of the ballclub, I've got to take the initiative to do that -- and hopefully, everybody will see that.

"This being our home court, people come here and think it's Hollywood and all sorts of stuff, so they think they'll come down [the lane] and look pretty and shoot jump shots and dunk the ball and finger-roll the ball and do all sorts of cute stuff. And we've got to stop that.

i'm very curious to see how Flip distributes the minutes tonight. will Delfino get another DNPCD? is Flip giving Delk lots of minutes now to see how he produces, before the playoffs? will Delfino look at it as an insult that Delk comes in and gets nearly all of his minutes?

metr0man
03-04-2006, 07:25 PM
I'm personally of the belief Delfino will be gone from the Pistons when he gets the chance. Hell he might even quietly ask for a trade next season. I mean he has a coach who FORGETS HE'S THERE (lol), he outperforms pretty much everybody on the bench and is still behind Evans and now probably Delk on the rotation, it doesn't matter how well he produces. I think he'll go to a team where he can get a conistent 20+ minutes a night.

It'd be hilarious though if Delk got all of Delf's minutes. We all wanted Delk to come in and play at PG and instead he takes over the one player most of us want to see get more minutes.

Delifno has zero room to complain until he starts performing on offense.

Let's not kid ourselves, Delfino has made it a LOT easier for FLip to bench him, with his awful shooting.

Not to Delfino: You shoot %40 from the field and %32 from the arc. You average 0.2 more assits than turnovers.

Start putting points on the board, and then you can have a leg to stand on.

He's better than the numbers. But i mean damn if you call a play setting him up to shoot 3's on the wing instead of setting him up for what his strengths are. Expect lower percentage shooting. Oh yea i like all those shots Delk nailed last night. [smilie=2thumbsup.g:

Seriously though it would suck to lose him because Flip doesnt get how to use him or Tay for that matter. For a guy with such a supposed deep playbook he seems to have alot of the same shit drawn up.

Delk's had one game to prove his worth. Delfino's had a whole season.

And Delfino hasn't done a damn thing consistently on the offensive end this year. He's shown a little of everything, but a lot of nothing.

Sorry, but I've seen players put up much better numbers than Delfino and still get the hook. It's his own fault for not taking the job. It's not as if Mo didn't give him enough chances.

on defense he's been very consistent. but that seems to be getting overlooked. whatever though. you can hype up your hate for him by exaggerating. but to say he's done nothing shows that its more about you disliking him than anything.

Uh, yeah, I REALLY hate Delfino.

I HATE him so much that I suggested STARTING him in the prince thread.

But yeah, if I say anything bad about Delfino it's not because I really think he's underperforming, it's just because I hate him. Good one. You must be super-fun at parties.

Any attempt to say Delfino had no right to be benched is blatent homerism. Neither he nor Mo is earning more minutes right now. Whomever Flip picks really is up to him. Delfino sure isn't forcing Flip to leave him on the floor more.

Ah well, to each his own....

No need to get your tampon wet. Nothing to take to heart. [smilie=angel.gif]
Either way homerism is saying that him and Mo evans are the next Jordan. Actually i'm stating he's earned his time on defense. The bench wasnt scoring much in the first place. I'd prefer to have the best defenders on the floor off the bench, to improve the offensive chances. Something i saw improve with him and hunter on the court. Honestly if the bench can atleast play defense i have less worries about them being out there. Whats the point of Delk finally hitting a shot only to have ray allen score 15 on him? Its a lil narrow sighted to just look at the whether he hit his shots spectrum of grading Delfino. Or his assists in an offensive scheme that makes it next to impossible for a SG/SF to get any assists outside of giving it to sheed or Dice..

Also arent you a lil too old to go to any worthwhile parties anyways?

You do understand im kidding with you. Lighten up Kstat

That's fine, but Tayshaun is earning LESS minutes. And it's not like Delfino has been given enough minutes to have a shot at earning more.

i actually disagree with that too FP22. I dont think theres a reason to cut back tayshan significantly. and the time we need to cut from him is to get him rest. but i dont think he's earned less minutes. he played rashard lewis tougher than most could and carmello was irrelevent when tay was on him. once again i think people have totally forgotten the importance of defense in the Flip era.

as far as tay's offense is concerned. this isnt rocket science. call his number early and often to start the game off. it led to better production last year when he was slumping and the year before in the playoffs.

I don't see how anyone can say that Tayshaun should be playing 40+ minutes when he isn't rebounding, scoring well, or really shutting down his man. Against Kobe is one thing, because he has a history of playing him well, but Rashard always takes him to school in the post. Last night, the only thing that stopped Rashard was his teammates not passing him the ball. He scored at will when he did get it. On top of that Tayshaun has a history of wearing down as the season goes on. I just don't see the point of killing him in the regular season when he has a couple very capable backups.

The rebounding numbers are disgusting though. I guess it is to be expected when you have four perimeter players and only Ben in the low post though.

I'll just say Delk > Bench. Lindsey didn't do anything. Delfino was so-so. Evans.... nothing. Delk needs to play a lot more. He plays good defense, he can hit shots, and he can drive the lane.

Now what can we do with Tayshaun... [smilie=arrgh.jpg]

EDIT: haha, nice call on editing in Prince. When he started that one-on-one ball at the end of the third it was the big momentum swinger.

"(The Lakers) were extremely aggressive," Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. "We got pounded on the glass and they took things to the basket. We played out of character defensively. We were switching and getting little (guys) matched on big (guys) and we took the easy way out by settling for jump shots."

Okay, now correct it Flip.

We know you can be a nice guy and be a pal with the players, now can you bust them in the chops? Because it's time.

I haven't been able to watch any of these road games (kids aren't conducive to 10pm starts). Overall, its pretty terrible, loss to Denver, squeak by Seattle, loss to Lakers. These aren't the cream of the crop here. Schedule excuse is BS. It looks like the Pistons aren't nearly as motivated as they were before the All-Star break.

As for this game. When the Lakers out assist you (rebounding was already touched on, so I'll let that be) you are doing something wrong. The Pistons just lost to a team with a "Sasha" on their bench.

so you saying those guys can defend them in the post? LOL.... If so you're smoking some crazy shit on that one. If not then why are you even running a pre boxing weigh in?

And how do you overequate shit to the most extreme extra literal level? I didnt say sheed needed to shaq fu them down there. When i said bigger and stronger i was referring to his level of skill and length down there vs their level of defense which is a major advantage. You make seem like weight is the deciding factor in a good post game. Been watching too much shaq and david harrison i guess. [smilie=arnold.gif]

Also i was refrring to the several switches that left a smaller player on Wallace that ended in a three point brick instead because they didnt look his direction for a split second.

Sheed could've dominated them down low all night if he was so inclined. Thats what i mean by bigger and stronger down there. [smilie=2thumbsup.g:
