Last night ESPN aired a collection of the best dunks of the year. Shannon Brown was featured 4 times. Shortly after, ESPN listed their Top 5 Finalists for Dunker of the Year. Rudy Gay finished second. Brent "bitch" Petway finished 5th. But, my boy Shannon Brown was voted Dunker of the Year. He is amazing!

A well deserved award.

Let's hope he wins it again next season! :)

Damn it! You always top me! Where do you find this stuff. Great video! That dunk was sick, even better from the side view when you can see how far he took off.

I'll never forget my Spartan mag after he committed. It showed a picture of him throwing down on some guy in high school. The title, "And then came Shannon" I loved it! I knew he'd be special.

I'll give it up for Shannon.

But, just to make sure I heard right, Petway finished above Ager and Gray right? Hmmm, thought so. That reminds me of an old argument.

That reminds me of this insane picture of Shannon dunking in one of his high school games. At the time, nobody (well mostly Michigan fans) believed that it was a shot of him when he was still on his way up and that he actually finished the move with a dunk.

But he did! [smilie=2thumbsup.g:

And yes this picture was taken before the doctors re-attached his left arm.

Speaking of the dunker of the year. From the Lansing State Journal...

• Did you consider this might be your last game at the Breslin Center?
SB: "Not at all."

• Are you going to have a senior day next season?
SB: "Yes I am."

• So, have you made up your mind about that?
SB: "I'm going to have a senior day."

• Are you speaking from emotion or . . .
SB: "(It's) true. I wouldn't say it if it wasn't."

That's the best news I've heard all month!

That's hilarious that you wrote this Jack. I posted that pic at my old fantasy football message board when it occured and I remember the exact same thing. A bunch of the Michigan fans were saying that there is no way he dunked it. haha Funny that we have the same memory.

Freaking awesome! I didn't hear about this. That is great news and it will bridge us to the stellar Lucas, Summers, Allen class. I love Shannon, and I love him even more for being a 4 year player!

Don't forget about Art's sig. Is that cat still around? Nothing matters until they sign the LOI. We found out the hard way with Jai Eugene.

While you make a good point, Summers and Lucas didn't exactly shock the world by declaring for State, as Eugene did when he picked anyone-other-than-LSU. De-commits don't happen much for State that I'm aware of. Unless Billy Donovan breaks out the checkbook or Allen stops looking like a chic long enough to father a child in Georgia, there's no reason they won't all be there.

Apparently 73% of the players in the Big Ten disagree. See the SI players' poll thread.

I agree Jethro. But I just wanted to remind people this isn't etched in stone yet.

Scariest dunker doesn't equal best or most talented.

That means who is big and has ups. Petway has ups, but is worthless in games. Yeah, his warmups are ridiculous, but he can't do shit on the floor.

More like EIGHT players agreed. SI only asked 1 player from each team.

I think I'd place more weight and confidence in ESPN's poll.

Oh it's in stone. Has Izzo EVER had a recruit back away from signing his LOI after verballing? MSU is an end destination Moodini. It's not a program that kids will employ as a fall back plan if their top options don't pan out...nor is it a program that a kid will hang out to dry and icks-nay the erbal-vay if one of their top options re-open and re-offer.

Yeah, if a kid is gonna screw State over he'll at least wait a year to do it, a la Randolph, Taylor, that European dude that went back to Europe, etc. Usually it's only the guys that haven't verballed yet that surprise Izzo, like Anthony Roberson.

When you get back from that tagent of yours, holler and we can get back on topic.

Kids leaving early is a problem for ALL programs who recruit McDonalds All-American type talent.

Moodini is grasping at straws. He's praying Lucas, Summers, and Allen change their minds and while he's waiting he's posting pictures of the retard that is Petway.

I'll take the All American Canidate in Brown over the retard role player that shines in warmups.

By the way, apparently the rest of the nation agrees with us on the Dunker of the Year. I'll take that over 12 guys from the BT. Brown's two dunks against Michigan were better than any Petway had all year.
