In line for a possible second-round playoff meeting, the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers are getting physical with each other.
The Central Division rivals meet for the second straight day when the Cavs host the NBA's best team at Quicken Loans Arena.
Detroit extended its home winning streak to 12 games with a 90-78 win over Cleveland on Sunday. The Cavs, who currently own the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, hurt themselves with 20 turnovers and also had their two best players get injured.
LeBron James, who had 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, got kicked in the shin late in the third quarter to cause a noticeable limp. James, though, isn't worried about the injury.
"I'm going to ice it down and be ready for tomorrow," he said.
Cleveland center Zydrunas Ilgauskas missed most of the first quarter after needing stitches to close a head wound caused by Rasheed Wallace's elbow. Ilgauskas felt Wallace was getting revenge for an incident moments earlier.
"I think he was frustrated because I caught him first with an elbow and then he hit me back," Ilgauskas said. "Mine wasn't intentional. His, I haven't seen the replay."
Wallace, who was called for a flagrant foul, whacked Ilgauskas on the top of his head as the Lithuanian drove for a layup and seemed to agree with Ilgauskas' assessment.
"I'm not going to start the game by cracking a cat in the skull if I don't get elbowed first," he said.
Detroit, which has won five straight overall, received a huge effort from Ben Wallace on Sunday. The All-Star center had 11 points, 19 rebounds, five blocks and four steals as the Pistons never trailed.
"They might as well take the Defensive Player of the Year award and send it to Ben," Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. "He's been on a mission in the last three weeks, and when you look at all of the things he's doing -- rebounding, blocking shots and making steals -- he's been phenomenal."
Although the Pistons had a comfortable victory on Sunday, they claim their 97-84 loss at Cleveland on Dec. 31 has motivated them for this game.
"We'll be on their turf, where they beat us before, so we'll be looking forward to it," Detroit point guard Chauncey Billups said.
Cleveland has dropped three straight since moving a season-high 11 games over .500 with a 105-92 win over Orlando on Tuesday in its first game after the All-Star break.

muahahhahaha.....
I wonder if Rasheed Wallace will be available for the game today. I mean he basically admitted to elbowing Ilgauskas intentionally -
"I'm not going to start the game by cracking a cat in the skull if I don't get elbowed first," he said.
I'm betting 1-2 games for Rasheed.
Anthony 02-27-2006, 02:42 PM Yeah, I've been waiting for word of a suspension, but I havent seen or heard anything yet. Or will they just give him 2 techs tonight? That way, it'll cost him money and he'll be that much closer to the suspension.
last i heard on WDFN, Sheed got a $5,000 fine and he won't be missing any games.
last i heard on WDFN, Sheed got a $5,000 fine and he won't be missing any games.
If that's it, I bet they won't be so open to reviewing future "questionable" technical fouls. Then again, Sheed doesn't have the reputation of being a dirty player. We'll see if there is any carryover into tonights game - guys are usually braver on their homecourt.
game's getting hairy.....techs all around.
best moment of the first half: Sheed LOLing@Z.
7:51 pm [H1Man]: Tech on Z
7:51 pm [UxKa]: haha tech on ilgauskas

7:53 pm [Kyrama]: Sheed is gonna go nuts now...just watch
7:53 pm [Itasca]: im sure sheed loves the atmosphere
News Flash - Giving Tay his big contract might end up being a bigger mistake than drafting Milicic 2nd overall. The man is bitchmade and severely overrated.
Probably gave Sheed a T because he had that crazy look in his eye and this way they hope to control him by being able to throw him out sorta deal.
Sheed will get this one rescinded as well. League has to come down on the refs though because eventhough it gets taken away, it effects how Rasheed plays the game the rest fo the way out.
Unibomber 02-27-2006, 08:25 PM Pistons 105
LeBron 87
Rest of Cavs 4

UncleCliffy 02-27-2006, 09:34 PM Damn, you'd think we lost every game from reading some of these threads.
b-diddy 02-27-2006, 09:34 PM agreed. didnt tay just have the block of the year just a game ago?
what gives? he's more than fine right now.
Chauncey w/ 15 pts 12 assists. the guy's a double double machine.

Overrated how? Where did YOU have him rated severely? [smilie=annoyed.gif]
I got no serious issues with his game. Like sheed he's stepped up in the playoffs and the meaningful moments.
He has a tendency to Differ, but theres no LB riding him so it is what it is.
Black Dynamite 02-27-2006, 09:38 PM Damn, you'd think we lost every game from reading some of these threads.
Yea, which would be cool if the same people spreading misery didnt compliment other teams and their players.
in the past 6 games, the Pistons are holding their opponents under 80 points per game.
the team's gearing up for the playoffs.
Well if he blossomed last season, he's wilting this season, save his penchant for key plays late in games lately.
b-diddy 02-27-2006, 09:41 PM pistons trap defense looks like 2004's.
they look damn good (playing best ball of the year? probably.)
lindsey is the obvious difference.
I agree that its Lindsay.
1) He sparks great D from the whole squad.
2) He ruins offensive chemistry so the Pistons HAVE to play better D.
I'll take that shit every game though.
I'm also dissapointed that Tay is simply who he was at the start of last season and not at the end of it.
Nice to see the bench able to ride out a tough spot (at the end of the 3rd I believe). When the Pistons were down 4 and the bench was able to get stops and get back the lead. Helped that the Cavs couldn't make dick the whole game.
Pistons about to get 50 wins in less than 60 games. How do you even describe that?
UncleCliffy 02-27-2006, 09:44 PM If playiing defense was a religion, Lindsey Hunter would be the Archbishop of Flint.
Black Dynamite 02-27-2006, 09:47 PM If playiing defense was a religion, Lindsey Hunter would be the Archbishop of Flint.
But he doesnt watch law and order unfotunately. So he's not perfect.
SKelly 02-27-2006, 10:53 PM Delfino is really slumping. Ever since the Darko and Arroyo deal, he can't make a jumpshot.
However I think Evans has really found his role with this team. His defense has really improved since the beginning of the year.
Delfino seems to respond well to when we sit him for a game or 2, we should give that a shot.
Flip's mom is cute.
"In the 10 years I had KG, if we got a technical foul every time he jumped up and threw the ball away, we would have lost a third of our games. And they gave Sheed a T for smiling."
-Flip Saunders
The problem with the refereeing now is that they give out T's to shut up the Pistons - which is ridiculous when T's lead to suspensions. They gave Sheed a pre-emptive tech tonight, just to make sure he wouldn't get retribution on Ilgauskas.
James plays 46 minutes and doesn't foul a soul. He is Basketball Jesus.
Here's a few new gems from Rasheed -
The two tangled again in the rematch, but Wallace simply laughed when Ilgauskas shoved him to the floor in the second quarter.
"I guess that was his wannabe retaliation," Wallace said. "I started laughing and got a (technical foul) for that."
It was one of five technicals called against the Pistons, who complained all night about the officiating.
"We get three, four, five technicals, but all we do is win. And that's the ultimate spit in the face," Wallace said.

2 things
1.) evans defense has been consistent trash. maybe lindseys is compensating, and Delfino's defense been consistently good, though he shouldnt be shooting jump shots anyways.
2.) do you have a wrinkled mommy fetish? if so, die a slow death you sick fuck [smilie=angel.gif]

Kilo=Prick Currylisle
i love how they replay Piston's games at night :D
i have to listen to them on the radio at work, so i don't really get the full effect.
Z = Sheed's new bitch.
Delfino is indeed streaky. Only thing I can really complain of is him getting his shot back. That, or have Lindsay get his, but that's a prayer.
Cross 02-28-2006, 05:00 AM Great to see DD got some playing time today. Everyone's getting ready for the playoffs

Do we have to go over this every time he has a bad game? Look at the numbers I dug up from the last thread on this:
Here are his career numbers:
YR FG% 3P% FT% STL BLK TO PF OFF DEF TOT AST PTS
03-04 .467 .363 .766 0.8 0.8 1.5 1.8 1.1 3.6 4.7 2.3 10.3
04-05 .487 .341 .807 0.7 0.9 1.6 2.0 1.6 3.7 5.3 3.0 14.7
05-06 .449 .364 .770 0.5 0.4 1.2 1.3 1.3 3.1 4.4 2.3 14.1
So he is shooting slightly worse, but better from 3 point range...has a half steal, block, and assist less a game, a rebound less a game and a half point less a game.
Time to panic!
BTW, here are his pre and post all star numbers last year:
------------ FG% 3P% FT% STL BLK TO PF OFF DEF TOT AST PTS
Pre All-Star 48.704 .359 77.778 0.69 1.00 1.7 2.2 1.5 3.8 5.3 3.0 13.1
Post All-Star 48.700 .317 83.846 0.68 0.65 1.6 1.6 1.8 3.5 5.3 3.0 17.4
As you can see, he's having a better season this year than last year at this time.
