I was a huge Nirvana/STP fan then became a huge Oasis fan. So I would have to say Oasis for me.

oasis is the group that sings softly, fights all the time, cusses all the time, and beefs with every group out their with a really bad mumbling british derelict of speaking that has to be translated in every interview?

Yes.

But you missed the part about them making great music.

I would enjoy them more if they did music that reflected them off the mic. They are like nirvana is on the mic when they are off the mic. Cant talk right and mad at everyone.

I think everyone is posting their "personal" best bands of the ninties. If this were being voted on would radiohead even make the top 50? I dunno know here but I thought my top 3 were solid picks.

I meane verve pipe? I used to throw empty beer cans at them when they played the frat houses at CMU.

Verve and Vervepipe are different bands.

Your picks are ok but Metallica and U2 released most of their memorable material in the 80s. Wrong decade.

I think you gotta go put Nirvana right up there, with the Pumpkins and Pearl Jam right there with them.

because this band wasnt just some band that played insstruments and talked about nothing...they had a message and if u didnt care about the message u wont like the band.

Rage Against The Machine was banned from the radio by the patriot act, because our trust worthy old rich dudes in suits decided they were terrorists. Otherwise they'd still have killing in the name of, freedom, and a bunch of other songs in heavy rotation.

when I first got into Rage i was young and just liked the music. I didn't even understand what they sang about. I just liked that they said 'fuck' alot and Killing in the name of reminded me of the beastie boys. The only song that made sense to me was settle for nothing, because i didn't understand politics but i knew about depression pretty damn well. Politics mixed in with hip hop influenced delivery and metaphors will go right over a teenagers head.

also someone should mention the red hot chilli peppers. in terms of the music and the skill of the musicians in the band i'd probably say they were the best band around.

Good call, I can't believe they haven't been mentioned yet. They had the most staying power and the most big albums, imo.
