I wonder how Amir feels about this. I'm sure he's excited to play. But he does have his mother and an apartment in Detroit, I wonder if she will follow him through the D-league. The good thing is if that it doesn't work out, we can simply bring him back up. There is really nothing to lose at all, and quite a bit of information to gain.

I bet this means that the Delk signing is a lock.

I think Amir could become a pretty good player someday...in one game he's shown more than Darko has in 3 years. (major exaggeration)

He looks promising though, for real.

I wouldn't mind if we send Maxiell down with him, just so that Amir has someone that he can relate to.

If we do sign Delk we should send Acker. I think Maxiell is who he is and gets it but just needs a way to get PT whereas Acker and Johson still need seasoning.

Maxiell CAN'T go to the NBDL. With all the minutes he'll get, he'll probably bite off 6, maybe 7 heads a game!

Keep him in his cage.

- We need to find DD some minutes with the season coming to an end. And Cato is expected to be back from his injury in a couple weeks. So the possibility of Maxiell playing is very slim.

- Secondly, the Pistons were afraid to send Amir down to NBDL earlier in the season because he was so young and they didn't him to learn bad habits. And I think having Maxiell with him will help him stay on track.

Besides, all of our rookies learned & practiced with our guys for more than half-a-season. It's time for them to put what they learned to use.

He will be joining the Fayettville Patriots. The first game is March 3. Mateen is on that team I guess.

Just looked at their schedule, and if Amir stays down for a month, he'll play in 13 games. Hopefully he'll play about 30 minutes a game.

It will be a good "test" to get the kid out on his own for a little bit this season, as his mother isn't going to follow him around forever sorta deal. Here she can go back to Cali for awhile and Amir can live on his own.

Like has been mentioned, he can always get recalled if things aren't working out. Otherwise the minutes should be good for him.

I expect Acker to join him in a week or so though.

For real. And Flip has even said if they tried to do this they would send them down together. So I agree with JS that they are waiting until Delk is officially here to send Acker down.

cool....hopefully we can get some good info somehow on how Amir plays in the NBDL. PT's gotta be good to build up the confidence in these guys.

I think the only place for NBA PG to get experience is in the NBA. I agree that Max is who he is, but for Acker, I think he needs to get 3-4 minutes here or there to learn this particular game speed. For a guy that played as much as he did in college, why go to the NBDL and play against some of the same guys you dominated in college. I think it's a perfect fit for Amir in that he's never even played at the college level, so any play would be good for him.

Most of you guys missed the other part of this.

I missed it because I think Delk is irrelevant. With or without Amir in the NBDL, they still have an open roster spot and Amir going away shouldn't have anything to do with them signing another point guard.
