View Full Version : Are you happy with the way the team is constructed now?
Glenn 02-17-2006, 08:31 AM Seems to be a lot of difference of opinion on this.
With the trade deadline fast approaching, would you be fine if Joe went with what we have now, or does he need to make a move to help our title chances?
If you vote, it would be nice if you explained yourself too.
Black Dynamite 02-17-2006, 08:36 AM I picked yes, But im open to getting a scoring point guard who doesnt confuse taking an open shot and ballhogging. besides that my worries lay moreso within the coaching staff and the rotation. we only got one coach out there with a bunch of pussy assistants who are no help at all. One thing i do like about LB is even though he's a control hungry dickhead, he hired assistants who had the balls to get in his ear to try something out his element.
I'm fine. Add a PG (that's better than Arroyo) and I'll be quite happy with our chances.
WTFchris 02-17-2006, 09:14 AM I didn't see the option I would pick.
Satisfied, but would feel better with a solid backup PG or SF added.
Hermy 02-17-2006, 09:48 AM I'm happy NOW. Now we don't have an injury to Hunter or Chauncy or Rip.
MoTown 02-17-2006, 09:51 AM I would like it if Joe would add another point guard. With the emergence of Delfino, I believe Mo can be packaged up with someone....

Mo probally doesnt get moved since Flip has the ill manlove for him. Delfino has to play twice as good as him to get minutes.
UncleCliffy 02-17-2006, 11:21 AM I'm not happy with some of the coaching. Too many triples. The bench is still weak. NO.
MOLA1 02-17-2006, 11:48 AM Yes. Check the record.
Peace.
Koolaid 02-17-2006, 12:10 PM I'm not even voiting.
It's not fair, i'm never satisfied. Pistons could be undefeated and I still would feel they could be better. Why? Because they could be better.
Anyone that thinks the pistons can't be better is straight up foolish.
Glenn 02-17-2006, 12:27 PM Yes. Check the record.
Peace.
The record with this current roster "as it is constructed" is 0-0 right now.
And our record will be 0-0 when the playoffs begin too.
Our record is not going to help us win games in the playoffs once the ball gets tossed in the air.

Anthony 02-17-2006, 12:36 PM Unless the entire starting 5 go down, nothing is going to stop us from steamrollin bitches on the way to the championship.
the wrath of diddy 02-17-2006, 12:37 PM Since the Sheed trade we are a sub-500 team without having all 5 starters.

Which means we are undefeated since dealing Darko.

You are living up to your rank title right now.
I can't believe how many here are satisfied with playing guys out of position to cover for our lack of a PG.
Varsity 02-17-2006, 12:41 PM Yes. Check the record.
Peace.
I think you need to check the record after the trade...not before.
I voted No, because I think it made a suspect bench even more suspect. I'm not worried because I think Joe will make a change, but I'm definitely more concerned than I was just a week ago.
Anthony 02-17-2006, 12:42 PM Glenn Dizzle -
The starting 5 is too good, plus, I dont see LH being the back up as a bad thing. We lose leads with our bench. Hunter is exactly what we need right now and for the rest of the season. Everyone said we should see more of Hunter after the AS break, well there you go. Plus Darko never played so it didnt make much of a difference that he's gone. the roster is fine.
Glenn 02-17-2006, 12:45 PM I like Lindsey just fine as a situational PG.
We've got one, maybe two roster spots to fill and I'm fucking pissed that we're in cost cutting mode. I don't want to see guys like Mateen or unsigned FA's like Goldwire on 10-day contracts.
Lottery teams operate that way, championship teams do not.
Varsity hit it, we made a weak bench even weaker.
*breathes deep* 6 days...

I didn't say I wouldn't make a move. I think we are good enough to win it all as we are now. But I would certainly like to improve the team by moving Cato, that is for sure. Why wouldn't I?

6 people (so far) have said this : I think we're good enough to win as is and Joe shouldn't tinker anymore
I've read things in the past two days that suggest that we're going to walk to the title, like we've already won it. "Look at the record", "Only if we lose all 5 starters", and there are a ton more like that.
The team needs improvement IMO. I even think we needed improvement before we dealt our #2 PG.
Could we still win it as constructed? Sure.
Do I want to find out? Hell no.
the wrath of diddy 02-17-2006, 12:51 PM Lack of depth cost us the title last year and if Joe doesn't do something it'll cost us again this year.
I think we have to drop the notion that we NEED HCA throughout the play-offs and focus on resting our starters and readying Hunter and Davis and battle testing Delfino and Evans quite a bit more.
Dallas and SA are going to fight each other to the last game of the season to secure first place and thus the No.1 seed in their division. I don't think we should try to match their intensity and win at all costs.
We have a ten game lead with 31 games remaining on our schedule. Miami, New Jersey and Cleveland are going to lose at five games each(in actuality probably closer to ten), meaning even if we went 16-15 we'd still have the top seed in our conference.
Is it only us who believes that Delfino could play the point?? Dumars didn't believe there was any chance of that as he mentioned Hunter and Acker backing up Billups if he couldn't swing a trade this weekend. I think ideally we need a combo guard to back up both positions. A three guard rotation with Billups, Hamilton and Delfino would be pretty damn effective IF Delfino had point guard skills.

We can drop the notion all we want, but the actual guys on the court aren't dropping it. They feel like had game 7 been in Detroit, we'd have a different champion and I believe that as well. That said, had they had more depth HCA wouldn't have mattered and with the depth they have now, it'll probably matter as much as it did last year.

"We've done some things in practice where we'll play a bigger lineup, playing a two at the point," Saunders said. "And even the development of (rookie Alex) Acker at practice, in certain situations, we might not be afraid to play him some."
