if you won the lottery this week estimated at $365 million? What would be the first thing you do? What would you invest your money in? Would you instantly leave on a vacation? Would you buy center court Pistons tickets?

It's time to dream. What would you do?

First step is paying off all debts (house, 2 cars, school loans, etc). That would probably run me about 200-225k all together.

Then I would pay to have my kitchen remodeled and sell the house to buy a new one (not huge, but with a pool and all the amenaties I would want). After that, I would have all responsible expenses paid and could do whatever I wanted with the rest, and I still spent less than a million.

I'd get courtside season tickets (don't know what they even cost).

lease a new car (no sense buying one since I could afford to get a new one all the time leasing).

go see europe.

get a steller entertainment room in my new house.

I'd probably give a little to make a wish or something too.

I don't know what else I would do. Too much to spend really.

I would definately get a cleaning lady to come every week so I'd never have to clean the house.

I'd send $20 million to Bill Davidson to pacify his luxury tax concerns.

And I'd have a taco.

Cant play the lotto yet, but:

1st. I'd buy my self my own mansion and pimp out every room with all the latest high tech stuff
I'd pay back my parents all the money I owe them, plus give them $250 million over the course of time
I'd also buy/lease an h2, Ferrari, and any other car I might want
I'd start a company
Buy season tickets front row to the pistons
Give a little sumthin sumthin to charity
Sleep.

I'd spent about 100 million on travel expenses and the rest on court fees as I proceeded to travel across the world getting drunk, punching people, and grabbing every pair of titties that bounced my way.

Seriously, I'd just buy a cheap ass house, a more reliable car, and put the rest into a business.

Im sure Chris wanted to mention that he would give me 5 million

I would give everyone in my life whatever they wanted. Plain and simple.

And I would quit my job and play golf all day.

I would come into work, stand on top of my boss's desk, and take a steaming hot corn-shit right on his paperwork.

Then, I'd leave, buy a struggling basketball franchise and see if I couldn't build it myself.

Of course, I'd wipe first.

What would I do?

I'd start off getting my own place--not a mansion, just a really nice house with some extras (pool, basketball court). Then, I'd pay my way through college, because that's not something I want to miss. I would not do well, but I wouldn't care because of all the money available to me. After college, I'd consider getting a job--however, it would have to be computer-associated, because I'm a lazy ass. The only reason I'd get this job is to not be bored. I'd also get all the media-type stuff I want (movie theater in basement), a nice car, and that's it. That would all probably cost about a million, so I'd put about 50 million somewhere safe (bank) for the future, and give the rest away to family, charities, basketball, and WTFdetroit.
And yes I would get half-court season tickets.

I'd invest all of it in the site so that we can have new features such as
"scratch and sniff" threads, virtual games with hologram videos of every
Pistons game broadcast in real time as well as a spell check and more smilies.

$365 million? DAMN!

First of all, I'd put a good deal of that into real estate. Maybe as much as $200 million. Real estate is one commodity that will only appreciate over time. I'd spread it out all across the country, and maybe use some of it for developmental purposes.

The rest of it goes to education, the most memorable dates any girl has ever experienced, and whatever other bullshit I can come up with.

i like the idea of spending $350 million dollars on your education.

$350 million on a date is good too.

giving your parents $250 million? wow, what a son!

i wont try to match that comedy.

i'd probably wonder around europe never planting any roots for a while.

if you want to get technical the michigan lottery (megga millions) is only for $145 million. not sure where this 350 figure is coming from.

your right, though. im sure everyone would have to change there answer for only $70 million.

People are forgetting that the government is going to take half of it up front.

Government takes about 40%, so kiss $150 million goodbye.

That's $190 million. My original figure was $200 million in property. Let's make it $150 million instead. That's still $40 million in basic living expenses. I can handle that.

you dont get $350 million dollars, you get a bond that will mature to $350 in like 20 years (or you can take the premium (?) of the bond and get like half now. the government takes its share regardless (your 40% sounds right) so it wouldnt be like 190, it'd be significantly less.

Really? If so, that's bullshit.

In my home state, our lottery allows for either a lump sum or a certain payment per year.

b-diddy
02-17-2006, 12:29 AM
yea, its the same.

the lump some is technically less than you'd get from the installments (though a good investor will beable to beat the bond's interest rate).

the installments are just dividends (?) from the bond.

I think after taxes and time-value of money issues, if you take it all right away, you get to keep something like 47% if I remember correctly. They had a whole article on it here a little back. Not badstill, though.

I know. I'd be happy with just a million take home. You could pay off every debt you have, buy a new house, buy a new car, and still have money to blow. Sure, you'd still have to work, but you'd never have to worry about bills.

The funniest thing--three immigrants stepped forward to claim it. And four have already quit their jobs.

$15.5 million each. Which means they'll all be back at work within a decade.

Yeah right. All of us on this board combined won't make $15 mil in our lifetime. I'd lock that shit up in a CD at comerica and live off the interest.
