man, did you see how many options there are? Someone's gotta be dumb enough to bite. That's the plus side of having a expiring contract.

The one team i didn't list that's definitely a possibility is Portland. They are swamped with point guards and don't have any bigs at all.

I'd really like the clippers trade though, They'd do it to make room for livingston and get a pick for Cassell before he leaves. It would also get Zelly off the books for them. Unless they still actually think they're going to do something this year, they'd be foolish not to.

Atlanta's going nowhere this year, so this is just a swap of 3 expiring deals, with the pick thrown in to compensate ATL for Harrington's Bird rights. After we win the title, we can try to find a way to re-sign Al, or we can S&T him for our next backup PG for 2007.


Cato and Minny 2nd for Desmond Mason & Rasual Butler
Mason can cover the PG spot in a pinch, and at 6'7, Butler is capable of handling some of the bigger SFs that Delfino or Evans can't. Butler's game would fit ours well, and hopefully Mason's slashing would get things moving towards the basket more. If this deal was made, most likely Evans would have to go someplace else in another deal.

Unlikely, but interesting to think about.

A pick could be added to make this work. Dale Davis would likely have to be moved in another deal. PHX has been looking for salary relief for a long time.

eh, doesn't really matter. Adding acker didn't do anything salary wise. IT was just to make the rosters fit. They could just waive somebody or sign a free agent for all the crap i said instead.

Ruben is an expiring, so he's no risk. If he disrupts the lockeroom, you just cut him.

I vote keep Cato!! He's a pretty big dude and can play pretty well when healthy. Besides if we ever brawl anybody, we'll maul - Sheed, Ben, Davis, Maxiell, Cato and a PO'd McDyess could do a helluva lot of damage.

Sorry if Im bursting anyone's bubble here, but we got Cato for his expiring contract to avoid the LT. I doubt wed end up using him to pick up salary after that.

I dont see how we could trade Cato alone and get much value without taking on salary, so this topic is most likely moot.
