Black Dynamite 02-11-2006, 03:42 PM if we lose im blaming the OGT guy.....i mean kid on this one.
i stuck the time in there, so no one misses the game.
should be a great time to demoralize the Heat. an ass kicking on their home floor on national TV would be perfect.

I think we'll be able to handle these guys, I'd like to see Dale get some time on Snaq.
I'm going to regret saying this I know, but I get a funny vibe about this game. Either something weird happens with the crowd and a player or somebody is going down with an injury.
I hope I'm wrong.

I think there is going to be fisticuffs and ejections. Riley is going to hype this game as an integral gut-check game for the Heat during the regular season. The Heat coming off an ass kicking against the Mavs and hearing the pundits will come out intense as hell - though probably too tight. Our shots will be falling and they'll grow frustrated and take a cheap shot and Sheed will come in swinging. Too bad Maxiell couldn't be activated for this game.
Either that or we can't match their intensity and take it up the ol'poopshoot...

This game is going to have a play-off atmosphere. Miami seems really keen on making a statement in this game. We better be ready. If we defeat the Heat with anything less than a last minute shot and I think we could effectively end their season.

PISTONS
JickBoy34 02-12-2006, 01:11 PM Like Glenn said, Dale needs to get 3-6 minutes during the game of him on Shaq. We need to see if he can battle Shaq remotely as good as Fat Campbell did...I hope Flip realizes this as well and gives him some minutes...

22 minutes left.....this is going to be a good one. imo, this is got to be as must win as it gets for Miami.
[smilie=a.gif]
Black Dynamite 02-12-2006, 04:15 PM Damn the refs are in rare form with Shaq. Nothing is an offensive foul today. [smilie=arrgh.jpg] ..
This may not be a popular theory, but i say put darko on him. Darko has been decent against shaq because of his length and lack of fear of the oversized dumbass. Delfino is on Wade stride for stride so far.
Delfino has really impressed me so far - he seems to have come ready to make a defensive statement. Shaq simply cannot foul and can travel as well - Sheed had a legit beef.
H1Man 02-12-2006, 04:26 PM We are already in the penalty and there is 5+ minutes left in the 2nd quarter. They really need to do something about the calls.
And the bench, including Arroyo, is doing a solid job on both ends of the floor.

yea its worse than usual today. yikes. he could sock somebody in the mouth at this rate. [smilie=anxious.gif]

I like your vision of the OGT. There are at least four all-stars in that lineup.
We're not going to shoot over 50% for the game - so hopefully we can pull it out as Shaq is going to be virtually automatic all game.
At least we're not getting called for too many either - the refs seem to be letting them play for the most part. I mean Shaq only has two FT, and the team has only 10.
The Heat need to put somebody else on Hamilton to get Wade going offensively. Maybe put Posey on him and have Wade on Prince - Prince's size advantage would be negatated by his lack of gonads.
Arroyo hasn't looks all that bad in his minutes. I think the problem is that the HEat are giving his shot too much respect and he finds the open man. You should let Arroyo take open shots all day, he's not that good to begin with and is even worse now because he has no confidence shooting it right now.
Arroyo cannot be on the floor with Ben Wallace. When Chauncey comes out so does Ben. Dice has a decent enough midrange shot. Ideally we need our back-up PG to be more of a scorer.
Shaq is too much of the offense right now and it kills the offensive rythem of the rest of the players around him. It's a tricky situation because Shaq is shooting 66% - he is by far the best option to get you a basket each and every time down the floor.
IF the Heat lose this game by double digits, I expect them to look to swap Posey and Dorrell Wright for a SF defender who can chase Hamilton around.
Black Dynamite 02-12-2006, 05:33 PM good foul delfino. make shaq shoot free throws. damn this guy is truly a damn good defender
And we've gone ice cold. I hope this is Miami's big run, because this possession could get them within five.
We can't buy a friggin basket!! [smilie=angryfire.g:

Rasheed & others making a Miami Vice character out of Delfino's picture in the lockerroom.

H1Man 02-12-2006, 05:50 PM i knew that play was fucked when prince was on wade.
Prince should be benched. Let Delfino finish the game in his place.
Black Dynamite 02-12-2006, 05:55 PM LOL@Miami celebrating too early after wade got hot. These guys are cheesy as fuck.
Black Dynamite 02-12-2006, 05:59 PM man, the heat can foul as much ass they want it seems.
Too much Isolation IMO. Flip's flaw is he'll overuse a play because we scored on it.
Black Dynamite 02-12-2006, 06:02 PM Somebody kick Flip's ass for the Tayshan on Wade idea.
I thought it was a mistake for one play. yet time and fucking time again he did it.
-NoQuarter- 02-12-2006, 06:10 PM The refs let the Heat hang around all fucking game long, and then Flip put the nail in the coffin by not putting Delfino in to guard Wade. Tayshaun was fucking worthless on both ends of the floor. Fuck him. Delfino locked down Wade the entire time he was on him and Wade only got going once he came out of the game. Disgusting.
I HATE the goddamn piece of shit Heat and I seriously hope they publish a cartoon about Islam and get blown up.
What the Fuck happened?? We get outscored by fifteen points in the fourth quarter??
And just think - we'll be paying Tay close to $9M over the next five years...
Tay is only good on jump shooters, not quick guys that attack the basket fearlessly.
Anthony 02-12-2006, 06:12 PM Wade whooped us. Flip is a fucking idiot for leaving Prince on Wade. He was making him his bitch.
Delfino should have finished that game.
(told you steve)

MoTown 02-12-2006, 06:18 PM Fuck Wade. I can't stand him or his piece of shit organization. The only way that team can beat the Pistons is if Wade doesn't miss in the fourth quarter. Have fun playing the Pistons in the post-season, Miami. How are you going to blow up your team this off-season after the Pistons dismantle you? I wonder what washed-up classless idiots are in free-agency after the season.
(I'm sorry. I needed to blow off some steam. I still can't FUCKING believe the Pistons lost.)
SKelly 02-12-2006, 06:28 PM The Pistons made a terrible mistake in their second to last possesion when they shot the ball with 26 seconds left on the clock. That give Miami last possesion to decide who wins that game. The Pistons needed to shoot that ball at least 5 seconds earlier so they can get one more quality possesion instead of that 2.3 second stuff.
I'm on the fence with the Delfino in for Tayshaun at the end thing. I would say that we beat these guys last year without Delfino at all. We have the best starting 5 in the league, let them decide the game. But, a few weeks ago when T-Mac was tearing us up, Mo Evans was doing a decent job on him and Flip let Maurice ride out the game. So why couldn't Delfino finish out this one?
I also don't get why Flip didn't give Chauncey a breather in the second half. Arroyo was actually playing well. Billups looked warn down at the end. He made some big shots, but also had a couple turnovers.
It just seemed that at the end, Miami was getting all the breaks. Loose balls, rebounds, calls, bounces off the rim, everything.
Dissapointing stint from Dale Davis today. He is supposed to help slow down Shaq? He couldn't even slow down Zo today. Darko actually wasnt bad against Shaq in preseason. Might as well give it a shot, because Dale didn't do anything out there.
I laughed everytime the sound went out for a moment. These games are on a 5 second delay on ABC. So we missed all of the patented Ben Wallace, "OH SHIT" yelps and I'm sure Sheed had some quotes in there too.
I'm dissapointed we only have one game before the all-star break because I expected the Pistons to go on a major tear. When they play pissed, nobody can stop them. I don't think the previous recent losses really got under their skin. This one will. New Jersey is looking like a deer in headlights right now, especially since they beat us the last time we faced up, and it's at the Palace.
Only a 1 game lead on San Antonio now. However, I'm starting to get the feeling that homecourt isn't really going to matter that much in the end. I think our team is much improved from last year and should take the Spurs before it gets to a 7th game.
Artis Gilmore 02-12-2006, 06:31 PM It's ok, one loss won't kill us. We'll bounce back.
Davis wasn't brought in as a Shaq stopper, he was brought in so Tayshaun wouldn't have to guard Tim Duncan ever again. Just as Miami retooled this off-season to be able to match up and beat us, we did the same with San Antonio in mind.
You can't blame Davis, as he gets no playing time. He needs to get into more games to get the feel back.
MOLA1 02-12-2006, 06:40 PM Flip put the nail in the coffin by not putting Delfino in to guard Wade. Tayshaun was fucking worthless on both ends of the floor. Fuck him. Delfino locked down Wade the entire time he was on him and Wade only got going once he came out of the game. Disgusting.
Wade whooped us. Flip is a fucking idiot for leaving Prince on Wade. He was making him his bitch.
Delfino should have finished that game.I'm pretty sure Rip was on him most of the time.
It's all good though. Let's move on.
Steve - NO MORE FUCKING OGT'S!!!!
[smilie=heat.gif]
Mikey 02-12-2006, 06:41 PM You guys hating on Prince for this game are real fucking idiots. Tay had his hand right in Wade's face and he still scored. It didn't fucking matter who guarded him, Wade was going to score either way, and you guys have your heads too far up your asses to realize that.
I cannot fucking believe what kind of shit I'm reading in this thread. One loss to a good team and you fuckers are panicking over a whole bunch of shit. Chill the fuck out.
With that said, Dwayne Wade is the best player in the NBA.
SKelly 02-12-2006, 06:42 PM Davis wasn't brought in as a Shaq stopper, he was brought in so Tayshaun wouldn't have to guard Tim Duncan ever again. Just as Miami retooled this off-season to be able to match up and beat us, we did the same with San Antonio in mind.

I never used the word "stopper." But he was brought in here with Shaq in mind.
You're right, Davis doesn't get playing time. But he isn't going to get into games. He will probably play in a maximum of 10 games the rest of the year. So if he doesn't have a feel now, where is he going to pick it up come playoff time?
SKelly 02-12-2006, 06:52 PM I cannot fucking believe what kind of shit I'm reading in this thread. One loss to a good team and you fuckers are panicking over a whole bunch of shit. Chill the fuck out.
Who is panicking? It's wrong to analyze a loss after it happens?
The other tough part about playing the Heat is that Shaq takes Ben Wallace right out of the game. Just 3 and 7 tonight. There is a history of Ben struggling against the Heat too. Shaq just wears him out.
Delfino > Tayshaun.
End of story. What a joke Tayshaun was today. He got absolutely lit up, and bricked shot after shot. The league has figured out his "post up game", and now he's just a bad jumpshooter that can't rebound (today was a rare exception). Plus his defense seems to have left with his rookie contract. Pistons win this game by 5-10 points if Delfino is out there in the 4th quarter.
Damnit all!! [smilie=angryfire.g:
HCA throughout the play-offs is going to be a dogfight down to the end. We're up 10.5 games in our division. I think we might be better off bowing out of the HCA race and getting Davis and Hunter some burn and resting our starters some - especially with about 10 games to go in the season. Looking at SA's remaining schedule and comparing it to ours, I think we have the tougher road.
One reason why I don't mind this loss too much - Miami is only four games up on Washington for first place in their division. I don't want to meet Miami in the second round - I'd rather NJ and Miami play in the second round, and we get Cleveland, Milwaukee, Indy sorta deal.

First paragraph: I definitely agree. We beat Lakers without homecourt advantage, and we were one defensive breakdown from Sheed away from doing it against the Spurs. This team can win on the road. They proved it against the Heat and in Game 6. We looked tired in game 7, picked up fouls on all of our big men, and had a tough loss. If we played our bench more we probably aren't as tired. I think we would benefit more from getting those guys ready than pushing hard for the best record. I'm not saying start to lose. But play those guys and hope for the best record. If we don't get it, no big deal.
Second paragraph: Very interesting point of view. Washington is one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now and doing it quietly. You are right, we want Miami in the ECF. Hopefully Shaq will be a little worn down by then.
SKelly 02-12-2006, 07:18 PM Just staring at the box score, another thing that really pops out is that Tay played 40 minutes. Now, that's a lot of minutes for a guy that is on fire. But Tayshaun has been struggling of late and his backup has really been turning it on. I'm not going to get into the "Delfino>Tayshaun" junk, but I think that minutes played stat should be in the low 30s. When a guy is struggling you got to yank him. I mean, he scored 5 points in 40 minutes on 2-12 shooting.
Artis Gilmore 02-12-2006, 07:28 PM I said Wade was the 4th best player in the leauge awhile ago, and people flipped on me.

b-diddy 02-12-2006, 07:39 PM perhaps im the only one who came away from this game happy.
we didnt execute down the stretch, and wade caught fire, not a huge deal.
what is a huge deal is delfino's play today. he looked great to me (i thought his rep was no d?). he's got some of the best lateral quickness i've ever seen, which was really bothering wade, since his game is all about getting his defender to go one way, and then going the other.
which is why tay cant guard wade. he's too tall, not quick enough. his d on that one jumper may have looked good to mikey, but wade had all the space in the world to take that shot.
i'd be happy to see tay playing more like 30 mpg than 40, with delfino eating into those minutes.
but to those getting down on tay, last year at this time he was arguably our best player.
SKelly 02-12-2006, 07:44 PM I think Tay'll come around. He'll watch his teammates on TV having a jolly time in Houston and that will pump him up. I'm all for cutting his minutes for now, but not when he gets things rolling.
And Maurice Evans best not play in front of Delfino again. There is no excuse to give Evans minutes ahead of Delfino. Evans can hit the corner 3 ball and make hustle plays, both of which Delfino can do. Evans can not handle the ball and run a fast break, Evans can not play defense like Delfino at all, Evans can't set up his teammates like Delfino does. Delfino should be around 25 mpg.
Artis Gilmore 02-12-2006, 07:47 PM Can somebody please tell me WTF is wrong with Tayshaun? he got beat by a great player. It's not like he let him score.
Jesus fucking christ you guys are so retarded.
Can somebody please tell me WTF is wrong with Tayshaun? he got beat by a great player. It's not like he let him score.
Jesus fucking christ you guys are so retarded.
Not sure which side you're on here based on your post. But from what I saw, Tayshaun just let Wade rock him back on his heels every single trip down the floor, ending in a wide open jumper. The only semi-contested shot was the final one. But at that point (when he had 15 straight points), even a 1/2 decent look is going in.
IMO, it's pretty ridiculous that Tayshaun comes out of this game with ZERO fouls. That is a blatant sign of not being aggressive defensively. Especially against a guy like Wade.
And after seeing Delfino drapped all over him, Tayshaun's D looked absolutely attrocious.

The point is Tay should not have been in that situation in the first place. He was struggling all night and Delfino was doing a great job, so why not stick with him?

a better point is that Tay cant cover Wade. We found this out last year. Wade is too fast for Tay. with Rip and Delfino you can stay in front of him(and for the record Rip did a great job on him too).
its sickening for this lazy ass coaching staff to not pick up on this. I wont put it all on Flip, but i liked our assistants from last year alot better than this group of followers with no extra sense.
Black Dynamite 02-12-2006, 08:54 PM (I'm sorry. I needed to blow off some steam. I still can't FUCKING believe the Pistons lost.)
There aint enough space on earth to blow off the steam this game gave me. The Heat fans will probally be under the false impression that they can play with us. I'm hoping for Indy, Cleveland, Miami, and dallas or SA in that order this playoffs. no more than 5 games a series damnit.

Anthony 02-12-2006, 09:07 PM If thats what its going to take for the heat to beat us, good luck to them in the playoffs.
And I really hope Flip figures out a rotation soon. Its only been 50 games into the season.
Black Dynamite 02-12-2006, 09:10 PM With that said, Dwayne Wade is the best player in the NBA.
I said Wade was the 4th best player in the leauge awhile ago, and people flipped on me.
After today, he's number 2 besides Kobe.Either you both go to Hoopsworld or both sport Dildo avatars...either is fine with me.Wow. I really hope you're kidding.
do it.
there is no other team in the NBA i hate losing to more than the Heat. i friggin hate watching Wade strut around the court. i hate watching Zo point to the sky.....i hope a bird shits on his head next time he does that. i hate watching fatoine walker get all excited when he didn't do shit to help his team. i hate knowing that Shrek thinks he can beat this team in the playoffs. i hate miami fans who think they're entitled to a Finals appearance just because they have wade and shrek.
on a serious note, i really get uncomfortable in games when we've got right around a 10 point lead through most of the game, and we're on the road. there's ALWAYS a run towards the end which will be fueled by the crowd's emotion. withstanding the run is key, but we couldn't do it. we basically won 45 of the 48 minutes, but fell short in the last 3 minutes of the game.

Yep, we missed those 1 or 2 big shots that pushes the lead to 16-17. IMO, the first couple minutes of the 4th were the most crucial minutes of the game. If we had bumped the lead a couple points the ending would have been irrelevant.
Koolaid 02-13-2006, 06:29 AM If Delfino had more minutes in this game he wouldn't have played D as close as he was. The guy got 3 fouls in 12 minutes, he would've fouled out in 20.
Tayshaun was the exact opposite, Which is also bad. They gotta find a balance of being aggresive.
However don't think for a second that Delfino could play that high energy ball for long periods of time. He'd foul out every night.
Cross 02-13-2006, 06:55 AM Dont blame the loss on Tay. That was a tough shot for Tay who doesnt hit many clutch shots. As for the D, he was right in Wade's face...I cant comment on the rest because i didnt see the rest.
Fuck Wade and the Heat. A bullshit loss IMO.
Gecko 02-13-2006, 07:33 AM There are a few problems I see with yesterday;s game that need to be watched.
First, Flip hasn't had to really coach yet but the few times he's needed to this year he's failed. His play calling out of time outs hasn't been all that great. His rotations this year most have questioned. The decision last night to not go 2 for 1 at the end of the game. Flip seems to be able to run an offense and manage a team but I worry he's not the best at coaching and late game situations.
Lastly and more importantly, the Pistons hae no answer still for D. Wade. I feel very confident that Miami would of won the series last year with a healthy Wade. Miami might be a shit team but they, like NJ match up well against us. If we can't stop Wade Miami is going to hae a good chance against us.

Funny, he left the game with 6:43 in the 4th having played 12 minutes. If you say he had 8 minutes of fouls left in him he would have 2:43 to spare. [smilie=applause.gi: And who cares if he fouls out? If he was forcing Wade into tough shots or forcing him to give up the ball he is doing his job. A couple meaningless "respect" touch fouls for Wade isn't going to make a difference. It's a helluva lot better than sagging off him, and letting him rain jumpers all day or letting him blow by you, and forcing the bigs to help (ending in handoffs to Shaq for dunks or shooting fouls on the bigs and FTs for Wade). Every great perimeter defender pick up a couple touch fouls per game.
Besides, 2 of those fouls were reputation calls because Delfino's an unknown and Wade is a superstar. If Delfino stays out there and continues to play great defense on Wade there is no way the refs are going to whistle cheapy fouls on him on every possession. If he was playing bad D, then yes, but the refs are not going to continually punish a guy for playing good D. They simply can't call it. It's the same reason why Shaq can shove guys around down low. He does it on every possession, so they can't call it every time down the floor. Then they start only calling it when it's blatant. Bowen does the same thing. He bumps people everywhere on every possession.
My only comment after this game (aside from an expletive or two) was that its time to see if Flip can coach or not.
Glenn 02-13-2006, 08:42 AM I'm going to regret saying this I know, but I get a funny vibe about this game. Either something weird happens with the crowd and a player or somebody is going down with an injury.
I hope I'm wrong.
Anybody else think about this when Ben went down? [smilie=anxious.gif]
I'm not concerned about losing this game, but I am concerned about our lack of post play (see other thread).
Miami played about as best as they could (except for the missed threes) and it still took Wade turning into MJ for them to beat us on their home court. That being said, if we are just going to rely on jumpshots, like we did this game, we could be in for an upset come playoff time.
Also, if I have to hear about Pat Riley dancing to a Doobie Brothers song in the lockeroom one more time, I'm going to choke a bitch.
(Kilo-- Does this count as taking it up the ol' poopshoot?)
Taymelo 02-13-2006, 10:00 AM Can somebody please tell me WTF is wrong with Tayshaun? he got beat by a great player. It's not like he let him score.
Jesus fucking christ you guys are so retarded.
Steve, you're acting like Tay had a good offensive game, but just couldn't stop Wade.
Question for you: What did Tay shoot in this game?
Anthony 02-13-2006, 02:39 PM "I thought we could've done something different there," said Prince, who was guarding Wade by himself down the stretch. "When he got it rolling, I thought we could've changed the defense up a little bit. We stuck to the same game plan, as far as guarding those pick-and-rolls at the top and those isolation plays.
"I think he read that we weren't changing anything, so he just kept getting into the paint, reading what we were doing and taking advantage."
That pretty much says it all right there.

let's hope that the players have good communication with Flip and they can make adjustments for next time.
