Just took a look at Sports Illustrated's Mid Season All American Team. They argued that the All American Team should be decided on talent, not on position. Therefore, they selected a 4 guard All American Team. Here it is:

1. Adam Morrison (SF) Zags
2. J.J. Reddick (G) Duke
3. Dee Brown (G) Illini
4. Mo Ager (G) MSU
5. Foyle (G) Nova

I was surprised to see Ager made their 1st Team All American List. I think he's been too inconsistant to be there. But, I liked it regardless. Who you guys got on your All American Team? Here's mine:

1. Morrison
2. J.J.
3. Dee
4. Gay
5. Killingsworth/Davis

I couldn't decide on my last one. Davis is averaging a double double, which is flat out amazing. But, he's had some down games. Killingsworth has had some down games, but he gets double and triple teamed every game. I'd split the vote on those two.

I'm sure you wet your pants and did the banana dance when you saw that Sheldon wasn't on there.

Hell yea I did! Overrated joker. He sucked against UNC too.

Gay hasn't been shit this season. Not AA this year, IMO.

Also, Killingsworth doesn't do shit other than score, no rebounds, assists, anything(well maybe TO's).

Not that I really feel the need to defend Killingsworth, but he's 4th in the Big Ten in rebounding. 7.7 per game isn't exactly "no rebounding". And as for assists, what do you want? Cliff Robinson? Speaking of no rebounding.

Didn't realize he was doing that well. I was refering to the Duke/Indy game(3-4 I think), MSU game(1), and a couple of others. I am surprised he is doing that well.

I think you are way too hard on him Muhme. I don't disagree that he's probably not a 1st team All American. But, you don't give him credit at all. If he was consistent all the time, he'd be a 1st teamer.

LOL, I was waiting for you to respond to this Muhme. First thing I thought of was "Muhme is gonna have a fit!" Actually I should probably dig up that article and send it to Valenti so he can hang it over your head. But hey, it's Sports Illustrated's fault, not mine. I'm no instigator. [smilie=angel.gif]

Gay hasn't been shit this season.

He's averaging 17 pts a game, 7 boards a game, and shooting just under 50% from the floor. That's pretty good.

Attacking my ramblings with facts, completely illogical.

But still those are worse in all three regards than Tyler Hansborough, who is a freshman, and not on the list. Along with many others.

Normally I am, but when its a player that I've only seen a couple times this year, and don't really follow that intensely I will base on what I've actually seen. I saw Gay play pretty much like a center, with limited points, and virtually no outside game, and I saw Killingsworth be eclisped from the boards. That influenced my statements the most.

Wow, WTF is wrong with everyone in this thread? DSC hating on facts? Saying Rudy Gay is whack and plays like a center? Mo Ager a 1st team All-American? [smilie=wtfgun.gif]

Rudy Gay is no doubt a wing player with incredible athleticism. He's got a J and is one of the top dunkers in college basketball. Mo Ager is nowhere near a 1st team All-American. Did anyone see the Penn State game? 3-18? Yuck.

Here's my team.

PG-Foye
SG-Redick
SF-Gay
PF-Morrison
C-Williams

Wow, you suck at sarcasm(hating on facts-ness).

And Gay = not an AA IMO, is he good, definitely, does that jumper need a lot of work, from everything I've seen, yup.

My AA team:

Foye
Reddick
Morrison
Davis
Tyrus Thomas (only 13 points, but 9.4 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks), really up for grabs though, Tyler Hansborough 17.7, 7.7, at 58.2% shooting, many others

I think Shannon Brown can now be considered as an All American canidate.

As far as Rudy Gay goes, he was named the Big East player of the week for the second straight week. Obviously the Big East is loaded. I think he's definately a canidate. I think he's a Ray Allen type in the NBA, he's going to be great.

Where the Fuck is Paul Davis? I don't know many college players who average 20 and 9.

You are so right, that's why I had him on my list. He gets so much flack when he plays bad, and gets little to no credit for all that he does well. The dude has 14 double doubles this year! Those are All American numbers. And the fact that he plays his best in the big games (tournament as a sophmore/junior) only adds to his status as an AA.

Against Duke I think in the tournament last year was his best preformance ever. He owned the whole front court of Duke including Sheldon Willams(who is overated IMO)

I thought his sophmore year we lost to Nevada in the 1st round? I don't think he played good that game.

Yes Gay is stepping up.

Ray Allen??? WTF, Gay is more physical guy, athletic guy, with not quite the jumper(not horrid, but Ray Allen???) I would compare him to, say Jefferson or someone like that.

Rudy Gay is a poor mans Scottie Pippen.

Yes Gay is stepping up.

I compare him to Ray Allen in that he plays very smooth and he's athletic. He doesn't have that picture perfect Allen jumper yet, but I see similarities in Gay's game now and Allen's game in college.

After wacthing Adam last night he is the truth. He sets picks get down low, has great movement and scores. If JJ played Pepperdine, he would have been sent out in a strecther yo.

Adam mo Morrison
JP Batista
D Horton
Allen Ray

Where the Fuck is Paul Davis? I don't know many college players who average 20 and 9.

And you still don't know many. I'm sure Paul Davis appreciates you giving him credit for 48 points he DIDN'T score, but let's make sure we're comparing apples to apples.

You all make your arguments all you want, but at the end of the day Duke still has only 1 loss and Williams averages 18.3 and 10 compared to Davis 18.1 and 9.5 for a team with 7 losses. Mention Davis in games from years past all you want when comparing the two, but All-American at the end of the year is a season recognition, not a lifetime achievement award.

Baker

Killingsworth vs. Williams 34 pts., 10 rebs
Collins vs. Williams 25 pts, 8 rebs
Aldridge vs. Williams 21 pts, 6 rebs
E. Williams vs. Williams 17 pts (9 shots), 8 rebs
Simmons vs. Williams 28 pts, 9 rebs

I posted this halfway through the season. Here are the numbers guys put up against Williams.

Williams is a good player who gets labled as "great" because of the name acrossed his chest. Paul Davis is having the better year. And we all know that he made Williams his bitch last time they met.

Jethro34
02-21-2006, 04:08 PM
You're still referring to past years for their head to head matchup, and NOBODY voting for All-American status cares about who did what against them defensively when their team HAS ONE LOSS! Oh, he got there because of Reddick. Well, that's one other All-American. Davis had two guys with IDENTICAL stats to one another who you are making an argument for as All-Americans. Advantage: Williams. He had to do more for Duke to get where they are.

First of all Steve, this post is simply ridiculous coming from you. In the post right above it I pointed out that Tre is now making a case for Shannon Brown as an All-American and his stats are IDENTICAL to Ager, so appartently that's two alleged All-Americans on the team with Davis. To point out just how similar their stats are, have a look.
Ager: 34.4 mpg, 18.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg
Brown: 34.8 mpg, 18.2 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.8 apg
Brown shoots a higher percentage and gets more steals, Ager is more likely than Brown to block a shot. But they key stats above are all within decimal points of each other.
The second, and more blatant reason why your post is ridiculous, is because you started a thread just a week or so ago about how over-rated you think Reddick is. Now you're saying he's good enough to lead a team to a 1 loss record at this point in the season all by himself? At least one of your arguments is way off then. Nice job of contradicting yourself and ignoring facts.

Baker
02-22-2006, 08:45 AM
While you are throwing the contradicting tag on others, you can stamp it on your own forehead.

In the Sheldon Williams is overrated thread, you said that the fact that MSU beat Duke led by Davis is no factor. You said that you can't consider team accomplishments when talking about individuals. Reeeeeeemember?

Then what do you do? You follow it up with two posts here about how Duke only has 1 loss.

Why don't you make up your mind? And while the All American team won't be determined by Davis working Williams last year in the tourney...it does prove that Davis is better. And that's all that I care about.

Jethro34
02-22-2006, 08:50 AM
Wow Tre, is that really how it works? So Shannon Brown is the only person on your team better than Daniel Horton? After all, in the tow games they've played this year Horton performed as well or better than everybody but Brown. I'll be sure to let him know you think so highly of him.

Baker
02-22-2006, 03:48 PM
Took me a minute to understand the logic. If I'm understanding correctly, that comparison doesn't work.

You could compare Neitzel and Horton because they were going up against one another.

Davis and Sheldon went head to head and both teams were running sets with 4 perimeter players, leaving the two to often square off one on one.
