Chats kill the game threads and lower activity at the site. Usually people would come and check out the game thread, add their two sense and maybe check out the rest of the board. Now people come here and see the lame assed game thread and don't bother to contribute to it.

You're kidding me, right? Are you seriously telling me the greatest draw to this forum is game threads? I'm not denying that it kills them during the game, but it seems a good portion of the game threads in the pre-GC era were much more popular after the games anyways.

We used to have AIM chats anyhow. GC's are gangsta.

I don't really like chats, that's why i never use 'em.
I like the board cuz you can read someone's comment and wait forever to respond. you can do research, and you can still watch the game too.

there's an element in the gamechats that can't be had in the game threads. in the chatroom, you really feel like you're watching the game along with other fans. you can't get that in gamethreads.
as far as claiming the chat is killing the overall activity at the site, that's not true at all. yes, the gamethreads are missing "nice shot" or "wtf, was that foul!?!" posts, but i don't think that's hurting the site. personally, i hate posting a comment and having to hit refresh constantly to see if anyone replied to it.
btw, Kilo, have you had a chance to participate in the gamechats? i don't think i've seen you around there. definitely check it out. games like the ATL start off slow, but we've been having 10-12 people in the chatroom pretty consistently. it's lively and makes the game fun.
