Has anyone heard the rumor that Boozer may have checked himself into a substance abuse program and that is the reason he has been out for so long? I have yet to find it in print but the other night on the radio on the heals of the Birdman suspension a insider/beat writer said somthing along those lines.

That's very interesting.

That would explain the fact that Boozer hasn't played basketball for almost an year now.

I have a hard time believing that the Boozer who broke his leg in the NCAA season and fought his way back to be able to play in the final four is this much of a sissy now. No way an injury of that type at his age should take this long to get better.

I mean how long does it take to heal a torn hamstring that didn't need surgery? Even with set backs no way it should take a year.

If it is a matter of the Jazz and Boozer not seeing eye to eye then they should have been able to deal him by now.

I really think there is more to the story than we know.

There's been alot of talk that Boozer hates Sloan and refuses to play for him and that the feeling is pretty much mutual on Sloan's end.

I would say there is truth to that, however it's not like that is uncommon in the NBA. If Ron Artest can be traded after all the stupidity he has been party to, I am sure some NBA team could use a PF. The Jazz don't like him they can trade him, if Boozer doesn't like the Jazz there are better options than milking a minor injury.

I remember reading something about Boozer and the Jazz owner not getting along with each other because Larry Miller called him out on his effort/toughness. That's about the same time, Boozer's injury issues surfaced.

And as JS said, there are plenty of teams in the NBA that can use a PF with averages of 18ppg, 9 rpg. The Jazz shouldn't have trouble finding a taker for Boozer, even with his contract.

BTW, Can the lazy ass mods split all the Boozer talk into a new thead?

Don't talk about MoTown that way please.

What kind of trades could Utah be looking at?

Boozer has a hefty price tag and not too many teams are gonna pony up a ton of talent for him IMO.

Chicago should make an offer. They've got Tim Thomas doing nothing and they own 2 decent firsts in 2006.

Not sure if Thomas and Boozer match salary wise but I seriously doubt Chicago is gonna get a better big man in free agency.

i was just laffing last night about chicago having eddie curry, tyson chandler, and elton brand. a frontline capable of challenging for a title with curry at a Dice-like role. yet they didnt want that in an era where its very hard to get that many solid big men. brand and ben gordon combo woulda been cold.

I don't think the Bulls could have had all three of those guys.

Didn't either the Curry or Chandler pick come back from the Clips for Brand?

its possible. if so then its still fucked on their part since they have neither curry or brand and brand is possibly the best PF in the NBA(maybe better than duncan at this point)

The Bulls couldn't have had Brand, Curry and Chandler though.

They traded Brand to get Chandler (and Brian Skinner)

The Bulls did have Brad Miller, Elton Brand and Ron Artest at one time though.

That became Jalen Rose and Tyson Chandler

Jerry Krause lost his damn mind

thats even colder. the bulls have no patience at all in development. looking for the next jordan every pick i guess. brad miller and artest are reunited oddly enough. but you couple those 3 with jamal crawford at sg and hienrich at PG, thats a damn good starting 5. whether they get ben gordon is in question though. either way the bulls dont deserve any legitimate big man just on GP.

Crawford was there at the time too.

Maybe they don't suck enough to get Hinrich but they'd have been able to get someone decent.

Then again, if Jay Williams doesn't have his accident and the Bulls kept Miller, Artest, Brand and JC the Central would be even tougher

Boozer returned to the Jazz lineup after nearly a year on the sideline.

The Heat should try and deal for him. He's done in Utah. However for some reason or another I don't think Walker is a Sloan type player. Doleac and Kapono might interest Utah though, throw in Haslem.

Imagine Sloan and White Chocolate together...
