So last week I signed up with SBC Yahoo and I've been having trouble installing it. My first time installing it - it gave me this message: "SBC Yahoo! found an adaptar, but it is not compatible with SBC Yahoo!". So I'm thinking I'll call SBC and tell them what the beef is. They told me I need to buy an ethernet card since the little yellow wire has nowhere to connect. So I buy the card, hook it in(and it showed that it worked), and I'm expecting to work. So I put the installation disc in and it tells me the same fucking thing!

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS DAMN COMPUTER AND SBC YAHOO! ? WHY AM I DESTINED TO BE DOOMED WITH THIS LAME, ALBEIT FREE DIAL-UP! DAMNIT I JUST WANT TO EXPERIENCE HIGH SPEED FOR ONCE!

HELP A BROTHA OUT! PLEASE!

Don't know, sorry. I have SBC DSL and it works fine. Maybe your PC didn't recognize the new ethernet card right. Try running the new hardware wizard and make sure it has the right card recognized.

My computer is six years old, but I'm running XP on it.

And my modem already had two DSL jacks in it so should I just replace that card with the Ethernet one?

i'm not familiar with setting up SBC DSL, but did you make sure your ethernet card was installed properly?

when you plug the cable from your modem to your ethernet port (in your PC), do the lights on the ethernet card light up?

also, check to make sure the ethernet card's drivers were properly installed:

Right click on My Computer and click Properties. Then click the Hardware tab. Then click Device Manager. Find "Network Adapters" and see if any of the devices have a yellow exclamation point or rex X by them.

Yeah, it has a green light.

i'd suggest giving the assmonkeys at SBC a call, to walk you through it.

They should come out and install that shit for you.

Dont know much about DSL, sorry I cant help.

Shouldnt be the age of your computer like gutz said. I was running high speed internet on a 1997 300mhz Dell just last year and shit worked fine.

When you are setting up the connection, which adapter are you using?

You could have more than one adapter (one of which is not compatible) and if you are using the wrong one, the connection won't work.

are you going to try what Matt and I suggested? Your card may not be installed right.
