View Full Version : Ever been on a team that was bad?
Artis Gilmore 01-30-2006, 08:08 PM Today was the last game of the season for my basketball team. We lost 32-7. Which put us at 1-11. [smilie=arrgh.jpg]. I was wondering if you guys have ever been on a team that was shitty or had a record like that.
(The highlight of the game was I had 5 of our 7 points.) [smilie=applause.gi:
D's Nuts 01-30-2006, 08:31 PM try being on the RealGM Pistons about 3-4 years ago. We didnt win a single game.
Unibomber 01-30-2006, 11:16 PM 7 points? Kid, your team fucking blows.
But you rule.
Train Wreck 01-30-2006, 11:59 PM My basketball teams have all been fairly solid but I was on a co-ed softball team last year with a bunch of girly girls who flat out sucked.
We lost every game but it was fine because it was just something to do before we went to the bar.
However, one game we were down 13-5 or so in the top of the 5th and gave up 31 runs in that inning. The Ump didn't call the game because apparently we were due our at bats in the bottom of the 5th still.
I made a nice diving catch for the second out and almost faked an injury just to be able to leave the game. It was horrible.
GotCrotty? 01-31-2006, 12:16 AM My freshman year of high school my freshmen football team went 1-8. We went on to win the state championship 2 years later when we were juniors.

Cross 01-31-2006, 03:29 AM In 6th grade, i think, i was on a team for parks and rec.
We lost all our games except 1 which put us at like 1-10 or something. I was never use to losing because i always played for a winning team. yeah i was the Asian kid who sat on the bench.
Great job steve. LOL 7 points...how long are your quarters

I sometimes forget Glenn is cool.
LOL@Herm.
I've been the on a couple of terrible teams. It sucks, but you find other things to play for besides winning.
Pharaoh 01-31-2006, 08:37 AM I have never been on a basketball team with a losing record.
In all the years I played I think the closest we cam eot a losing record was something like 19-7.
It sucks to be on a losing team Steve but if you're the best player on that team my advice is to find better team mates.
If you're that good a bunch of kids your age will want to be on your team so just pick the best guys possible.
WTFchris 01-31-2006, 09:30 AM try being on the RealGM Pistons about 3-4 years ago. We didnt win a single game.
beat me to it. Going 0-11 was quite the accomplishment.
I would be embarhassed about it except that I know we were fighting an uphill battle playing with people who showed up when they felt like it and some players that looked like they never shot a basket in their life. At least we weren't the WTF pistons and we tarnished the name of another site with our terrible losses.
MoTown 01-31-2006, 09:34 AM I think Mola and I could always throw some games this year for the right price......

Thanks [smilie=2thumbsup.g:
My advice for the next time you are on a lousy team is to go for 81.
Vinny 01-31-2006, 12:55 PM VINCE WAS RIGHT!!!
Which put us at 1-11.
So what was the score between you guys and Sister Mary's Home for Deafmute Quadrapalegics? Did it go into OT?

Yeah I can see with the 7 points that they put up that he has some talent on that team. The coach needed to tweak the defense a little bit and they would have been right in that game.

What, was he making his players bounce the ball off their heads into the basket?

When I was in Middle School, we had about the same amount of talent as Steve's team, but a really good coach and we went 7-5. When kids are that young, it's all about the coaching.

Artis Gilmore 01-31-2006, 06:52 PM Our team does have talent but my coach sucks. He has no idea what he's doing.

You'll find that the rest of your sports career, I think I had one good coach my whole life, and he wasn't a school coach.
UncleCliffy 02-01-2006, 12:04 AM My coach got us to the national finals.
In chess.
GotCrotty? 02-01-2006, 12:06 AM It's alright, Chess is underrated.

Actually the fact that 12 year old kids really don't know how to run a play anyway means that talent usually wins out. This could be the exception though.

I agree that coaching is huge part of middle school ball. my brother, who is a really good passer and dribbler was put on 3rd string because the coach felt that size was all that matters even if that means you have no PG and no quickness. Needless to say my brother finished out the season as the starting PG and got an apology from the coach. His coach claimed he didn't know my brother could dribble, what kinda coach doesn't know that.
how long are your quarterswe have 3 quarters with 4 minutes in the 1st half and 2 6 minute quarters in the second half.
WTF? You sure you're not playing cricket of something? 5 quarters? Some of them longer than others? Do your rims move back and forth like those games at the arcade?
GotCrotty? 02-01-2006, 12:45 PM Basketball coaches are babysitters until you get the varsity level really, I noticed that none of them really understand and teach the game to us, just make us run, tell us plays, and yell when we fuck up.
Artis Gilmore 02-01-2006, 04:30 PM I noticed that none of them really understand and teach the game to us, just make us run, tell us plays, and yell when we fuck up.Thats all my coach does. I dont even know the other coaches voice because(not that I need to know) because he's the only coach in probably Michigan who yells at middle school kids. He's not mean, but he just yells out a bunch of garbage.

[smilie=amish.gif] me, right?
UncleCliffy 02-02-2006, 11:36 PM I played soccer when I was like 7 years old and we had this coach that was absolutely out of control. This guy was like Stan Van Gundy on speed. He ended up getting thrown out after attacking a ref during a basketball game (he coached baseball/soccer/basketball) a few years later. Crazy Carl.
Anyway. I don't think he was a great coach but dude always had the best teams.
Played in a rec basketball league with some "far" friends. Beat the worst team in the division, but couldn't finish against any others. Like 1-7 record or something like that.
Fun times though. Lots of nailbiters too.
And beer afterwards.
