Congrats to the Wolverines, who come in ranked #20. Two road games this week will tell if they deserve to stay there. State remained the same at #12.

Tight, but not as tight as it should be. I counted 12 teams ahead of Michigan that have the same amount or more losses or more. Jicked! And how does State lose to and unranked team (Michigan, at the time) and struggle vs. a horrible Penn St. team (at home) and not even move down a spot? [smilie=fingernono.:

I was also going to say that, but I figured I would just be happy with the fact that Michigan is in the top 20. It's better not to say things like that... Michigan State fans can get pretty grumpy pretty quickly.

Somewhere out there, Terry Mills is proud.

And that makes me feel good.

It's called respect my friend, on many different levels. First for a Michigan State program that continues to be a consistent national threat. Second for a Michigan program that, even though unranked at the time, showed the tenacity and maturity of a tourney team in beating 2 ranked squads. Third for the Big Ten where winning on the road has become Twilight Zone material, just ask Indiana. Respect my friend, we've got it and you're getting it.

Have to agree with SpartyNick...didn't see State dropping much if at all.

If we did have Davis though and the game went the same. I bet we would drop a couple maybe a few spots.

Northern Iowa beat Iowa. They play in a strong MVC. 4 teams could go from the conference to the dance.

I am now going to be the whining MSU fan.

HOW CAN WE BE BEHIND MSU, WE BEAT THEM!!!!!

Are you going to tell me that if in football, Michigan was ranked #12 and lost to an unranked team they wouldn't drop at all? Michigan has all the respect in the world in football. Why is it different between football and basketball? To me, if you are ranked, and lose to an unranked team, you move down, period.

Come on now, I came here expecting more from the contributers. Comparing regular season College F-Ball to regular season College B-Ball is apples and oranges my friend. Losses count 1 million times more against a team in College F-ball and you don't have a chance to play again before the rankings come out like in B-ball. I get the sense that you Michigan fans were holding out some hope that Michigan would be above MSU in this weeks rankings......Sorry, Rome wasn't built in a day. [smilie=2thumbsup.g:

Yeah but the problem is MSU did play again and looked horrible against PSU, even without Davis it shouldnt have been close. I mean UM beats two ranked teams without one of its top 3 players.

I think it was rather generous of the writers to let UM in at #20. MSU and Wisconsin are their ownly real wins this year. We will see how good UM is when they hit the road against the tougher teams. MSU still deserves their 12 ranking because they have lost to all good teams (except Hawaii). MSU should be able to move up a spot or two with a strong showing this week.

I think it doesn't really matter at all. Who really cares about rankings at this point in the season. As we have seen before, rankings mean nothing to the tournament committee. How else would you explain a Gonzaga team that was ranked in the top 5 a couple years ago getting a #6 seed.

The only ranking that should matter to anyone, especially MSU fans is their seed come March.

re: State's ranking, it's not respect, it's hype. See: Florida.

By the way, Joe Lunardi just put up his latest in Bracketology. Michigan is now a #6 seed (he has them facing California in the opening round, they would then play the winner of the Tennessee v Penn game. It gets rough, though, in the sweet 16 where they would likely face Villanova.

This is the correct answer.
