I've been wondering this recently. Could a player succeed as a top scorer in the league without help from the refs? I'm thinking that it's impossible to do that now.

View Full Version : how important is respect from the referees? Koolaid 01-30-2006, 12:23 AM I've been wondering this recently. Unibomber 01-30-2006, 12:56 AM I work as a ref, and if you rub me the wrong way I'll rub you the wrong way. But I always try to call an impartial game and a good game, the goal of any ref. IN the very least you have to be respectful to the referees - they are human afterall. We've been getting the benefit of the doubt more this season and I've been trying to figure out why - is it because we've finally proven ourselves as worthy, is it because we don't whine nearly as much(though that could just be from winning and having no reason) or is it because we play an exciting team game and that's they style the NBA wants to market? Also it seems like Flip has a much better relationship with the refs than LB did and it also seems for the most part that the referees don't take Raqsheed seriously anymore - sure he gets his tech's but that's just to shut him up, there isn't many confrontations anymore. WTFchris 01-30-2006, 10:53 AM It depends. If your style is like Peja or Dirk maybe. They get most of their points off longer distance shots, and without looking at statistics they probably don't shoot a ton of free throws. It would be hard to be good enough to outscore the players who do get those calls though (Lebron, Kobe, Wade, etc), but still possible. |
