View Full Version : My Toughts
Baker 01-27-2006, 11:12 AM I had duty yesterday, so I couldn't get on here. So I decided to get on here, take in some of the trash talk, and get out my opinion.
I'm not a chump, so I'll give credit where credit is due. Moodini, props on the prediction. Props to Horton for playing well. Props to Michigan for their rebounding effort.
Now, I'll tell you that I've never been more furious after a sporting event than I was on Wednesday. So much so that my fiance suggested that I stay off the computer, because I was PISSED! I honestly was a little out of control. [smilie=angryfire.g:
I didn't want to get online the day after the game and get into trash talk wars. So I haven't even read the posts. I know I would get out of control and it would take over my life right now. I don't have time for that. I also didn't want to come on here and try to rain on the Wolverines parade. I know you guys were probably thrilled, so I didn't want to get on here and whine because that's what I give you guys so much crap for. Now that you've had a day to brag it up and enjoy the win. I'll voice my opinion. I've had 3 different people send me articles that they thought I would enjoy. Here is the one that summed up my thoughts the best. So here it is. Long but worth the read. I won't be back to get into a war over it.
Subject: Basketball Non-Game
"Michigan played good defense and rebounded well. Obviously, MSU’s chief
vulnerability showed up in that a little bit of foul trouble becomes a big
issue for this team.
Fouls were the difference in this game. It doesn’t take Einstein to figure
that out.
Did Michigan State get its money’s worth from those fouls? Absolutely not.
It’s not like UM was hammering away inside with post-up threats and dribble
penetration, drawing fouls on Gray, Davis and Trannon. Many of the fouls
were soft, gift, Casper the Friendly Ghost fouls.
Take those guys off the floor, and MSU’s offensive rhythm was drastically
altered. Davis, Gray and Trannon had to play tentative and less aggressively
on defense and the boards. Meanwhile, UM was able to hang around and gain
momentum.
That won’t be the last time Gray, Davis and Trannon get in foul trouble in
the same game. Guys like Goran Suton and Idong Ibok and even Delco Rowley
need to improve. Is that possible, with just a few weeks left in the season?
I think it’s possible. Probable? Maybe not. But it’s possible. And that
might be needed in order to clear the obstacles that will appear between
here and Indianapolis the first week of April.
**
Basically, this could have shaped up to be an interesting, entertaining
basketball game. But a complete basketball game never took place. The
competition was aborted by foul calls and whistles.
At one point, UM had shot 30 free throws while MSU had shot only 6.
Basically, that means that MSU needed to be 24 points better than UM just to
be even with them – home crowd, home rims, home familiarity aside. You just aren’t going to win on the road, especially in this league against
a Top 30 team like Michigan, when the opponent has 24 more trips to the foul
line at one point in the game.
A good, competitive game was shaping up. But then the game stopped. Michigan State was still forced to try to play basketball at one end of the floor. On that end of the floor, MSU was faced with having to attempt to run their offense against a good defense and get good shots.
At the other end of the floor, UM was escorted to the free throw line.
It’s as simple as that. It was a non-game.
It was basketball at one end of the floor, it was a free throw shooting
parade at the other end.
And again, it’s not like UM carved out that advantage at the foul line due
to being fundamentally superior. It was just unbalanced officiating. Not to
the point of being fishy officiating, as was the case with the MSU-Hawaii
football game in 2004. Nothing fishy here, other than the ineptitude of the
officials, who were seen high-fiving in the tunnel after the game.
Seriously. That was strange.
**
With many of UM’s offensive possessions ending at the foul line, this took
MSU out of its first-half bread and butter – which was forcing turnovers, or
tough shots, and getting the defensive rebound and running.
Good defense fuels MSU’s fast break. MSU didn’t get a chance to play much
defense through the first 15 minutes of the second half.
Once UM began being escorted to the foul line, MSU’s ability to rebound and
run was taken from them.
Then MSU had to carve out its own shots in halfcourt sets, many times
without Paul Davis on the floor. Meanwhile, UM – a pretty good defensive
team to start with – was gaining momentum and energy from the crowd and the
situation.
**
Marquise Gray was a beast on the offensive boards and around the
rim after Trannon got in foul trouble. His helpside defense blocked shot was
enormous. But Gray soon had to go to the bench with two fouls, too. The one
foul that was called on him while he tried to get defensive position was a
joke. Izzo is going to put a hole in the wall when he sees that one on film.
It was ridiculous. It wasn’t basketball.
Fouls like that one, and about 20 others, made this a non-game.
A good game was shaping up. But then it was aborted. This became a spoiled
specimen. It was a complete non-game.
Don’t take anything away from Michigan. They didn’t do anything to make this
a non-game. They hit their free throws. They played pretty good defense.
But please. In terms of pure five-on-five basketball, MSU made six more
field goals than UM. MSU shot 50 percent from the field, compared to 41
percent for Michigan.
MSU shot 42 percent from 3-point range, making nine. UM shot 31 percent from
deep, making five.
The only way UM was going to win this game was by getting 24 more trips to
the foul line than MSU. And that’s exactly what they got.
UM fans will say that MSU fans are crying, just like UM fans cried with the
“extra second” game in 2001, or the Eddie Brown game in 1990.
Hey, those games came down to the last play. MSU played pretty damn good football to get to that point.
TJ Duckett still stuffed 200 yards rushing down their beaten grill in 2001.
MSU could argue that they were the better team with a straight face.
And the way Hyland Hickson was bull-dozing Tripp Welbourne, and the way MSU
steamrolled to the end zone when it had to in 1999 showed that MSU at least deserved to be there at the end.
What did UM do to deserve this game? They turned an airball into a fluke
offensive rebound and happened to hit a big 3-pointer off of it. Chris
Hunter made a couple of plays. Dan Horton made two plays.
Other than that, it was free throw, free throw, free throw. They didn’t have
anything close to a TJ Duckett 200-yard performance.
They didn’t have to play basketball for about 30 percent of their
possessions.
Joke.
Non-game."

Drew says Hi!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y266/jm_phenom23/AgerFishing.jpg
Hey Tre, I found Mo...he went fishing after halftime
I don't get into these NCAA wars (though I read them) on here, but talking up the game, watching your team lose, then not reading the comments that throw your own trash talk in your face and posting "excuse" articles instead is a complete cop-out.
Why should anyone read the articles you've posted. You didn't show up to eat your crow, and even a day after you say your haven't read any of the comments (so you aren't gonna eat your crow).
That shit is bitch made and the reason almost all of this NCAA crap (on both sides) is worthless. Gutless.
Baker 01-27-2006, 11:24 AM The part that pisses me off the most is the officials high fiving after the game. Why would they do that?!
In addition, I've never heard Izzo blame officials for a loss in his tenure. Wed. was the first time. Look up his comments. He remained classy and gave credit. But, it was obvious how he felt.
Artermis 01-27-2006, 11:30 AM My thoughts are this:
You are a fraud. You called out all UM fans to show up if MSU would have won and if we had come up with the excuse such as I had duty, we never would have heard the end of it.
You sir are a hypocrite. Dont give me crap about how you didnt want to rain on our parade. We had a good time of the good people who are Spartan fans who showed up.
The refs were bad, sure, did more bad calls go against MSU sure, but they didnt cost MSU to lose the game. MSU went 5+ minutes without a FG, not the refs. MSU turned the ball over around 20 times, not the refs.
There were bad calls for both sides. Did you happen to see the call on Davis late in the game that usually costs UM games?
BTW as I have been stating for the last two days. It looks exactly like when UM would go to IU and IU would shoot 20+ more free throws than UM. Shit happens.
One last thing Tre....this is a message board with words, if you get so pissed over words, maybe you should look into anger management. I mean we for the most part are people you will never meet and if our words as anonymous posters get you so worked up, maybe you should seek a counselor.
As I stated to Jack...please keep the whining coming, I hope we dont lose any of this crap for the next time one of us has crappy officiating, so that we can both turn it around and laugh at the other side for excuses, because in the end that is all they are.
Also if you get upset over a frigging game, then maybe you shouldnt watch the game anymore, because there are a lot things more important than a game, but I used to be like that get upset, but then I got married and have a child and I realize that there is more to life than some stupid game (that i still obsess over) that makes me so crazy I get pissed.
Next time show up....it wont make you look like such a pansy and give you some credibility when you talk, because right now, you have ZERO!!

JickBoy34 01-27-2006, 12:18 PM Excellent point muhmme, excellent. Of course, if you think Tre will look at those box scores objectively, you are obviously mistaken. He has Sparty blinders on...
Jethro34 01-27-2006, 02:10 PM Actually, Art, before you go off on Tre about anger management, there are 4 Michigan fans on this site that I'm aware of that are all friends of Tre, myself included. Hell, Moodini is going to be the best man at his wedding. I know that seldom seen Wilzone knows him and I have an idea who Filly is, though he denies it, and if it's who I think, they absolutely know each other well.
If it was just guys like you, Polish and Muhme, I think he could handle it. I agree that he should have made an appearance solely on the fact that he called out Moodini to make an appearance, but I understand where he's coming from - for what it's worth.
Moodini31 01-27-2006, 02:21 PM I had duty yesterday, so I couldn't get on here.
I'm sure you had a minute before school, while the kids were gone, or after school to stop by and read a few posts and make a few.
I didn't want to get online the day after the game and get into trash talk wars. So I haven't even read the posts.
So much so that my fiance suggested that I stay off the computer, because I was PISSED! I honestly was a little out of control.
So which one was it? Recess duty, your fiance or you just didn't want to get on?
I just can't believe that you called me out, and said you would be here in the morning waiting, and then never showed. [smilie=fingernono.:
JackTalkThai 01-27-2006, 02:29 PM Excellent point muhmme, excellent. Of course, if you think Tre will look at those box scores objectively, you are obviously mistaken. He has Sparty blinders on...
LET US look at the boxscores...if Michigan went to the line just 13 more times than MSU (like MSU did when Indiana came to the Breslin), Michigan State would've won the game on Wednesday. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.
The funny thing is, if you look at those box scores -objectively- you will realize that of the losing teams only Michigan State "outplayed" its' opponent yet lost the game. More made field goals, more made three pointers and shooting a better percentage in BOTH.
But of course, you probably can't take your own advice and look at the box scores objectively.

Dude, you lost. Now go to bed. Nothing you say is going to turn it into a W. Michigan football can't get the bowl game against Nebraska turned into a W, nor can they get any other horribly officiated games reviewed and changed. So accept it and move on, just like you advise Michigan fans to do.
Glenn 01-27-2006, 02:45 PM "Toughts"?
Wizzle 01-27-2006, 02:58 PM Willzone?!? hahahaa its Wizzle man
Instead of bangin' on the refs maybe Spartan fans should just remind Paul Davis that if he takes his spine out during halftime, just put it back in before he comes back out on the court.
Artermis 01-27-2006, 03:01 PM No offense Jethro, but anyone who claims they need to calm down after a game because they were so furious that their GF said something, has some anger issues, who they know doesnt matter.
Also, if you are going to talk shit to people, at least have the guts to come back and take the shit that they are going to give you.
Maybe him coming wasnt a good ideal. I mean I would hate to be the reason he is not getting married, because he got so pissed over a comment and beat the shit out of his girlfriend.
IT IS A GAME...NOTHING MORE.
It is not life or death for any of us.
I used to be pissed at stuff, but that is before I grew up and realized that their is more to life than Sports, I know that shocks many of you, but there truly is.
I come on these boards to talk shit, get shit on and have fun. Nothing more and nothing less.
I can handle anything, because I am an adult and I dont let words on the screen get to me.
Glenn sums it up with one word..:)

Hopefully, MSU will do something about that so everyone is shocked when Mr. Moody doans the green and white.
SpartyNick 01-27-2006, 11:04 PM Hey Tre - I feel your frustration but it was a REGULAR SEASON BIG TEN ROAD LOSS, turns out they happen to most. I've never seen a more thought out, linked up excuse list in my life. A NON-GAME? [smilie=wtf.gif] Are you serious? Don't paint me with your brush douchebag. I've been here giving credit to Michigan since 45 minutes after the fucking game ended. So take your "you Spartan fans," cram it up your ass, and set it on fire.
One complaint I do have is this notion that we Spartans can't count on basketball anymore. Why is this? What can't we count on? Beating Michigan, winning games, or all of the above? I'm glad you guys are excited for your team, you should be. However writing about this Wolverine win like an obituary for your virginity is fucking stupid. Beat Wisconsin today, secure a winning record in the conference, make the tourney, and you'll get far more respect from me than I have for Michigan now. [smilie=annoyed.gif]
Artis Gilmore 01-28-2006, 09:47 AM I don't know why State fans are getting upset and shit. We lost to a team that was ready to play. Sure the Refs were bad but you can't blame the whole game on them. And if your an MSU fan, I don't know why we should be upset. We have the easiest schedule probably in the nation in our next five games! We will bounce back and once UM comes to the Breslin Center, we should get revenge and kick their ass.

Baker 01-31-2006, 02:37 PM First of all. I’ll come to WTF whenever the fuck I want. If I want to read posts 24 hours after a game instead of 10 hours after a game, that is what I’ll do. If I don’t want to reply when some jerkoff writes some uninformed shit, that’s what I’ll do. I didn’t vanish from the site. I’m here. Just because I don’t post a reply doesn’t mean I’m not here. If I want to cool down the next afternoon and not spend 12 hours of my day going to war, that is exactly what I’ll do. I didn’t puss out and vanish. I’m still here. So settle the fuck down.
Jethro made the exact same decision I did a couple of weeks ago. He thought he was spending too much time so he cut himself off a bit so he didn’t turn into a message board freak. I’m doing the same. I know myself and I know that I would have been on this damn board all night long if I would have got caught up in the war the day after FoulFest 06. So I let you Wolverines run your mouths and I remained quiet. You’d think you’d be happy that the Spartan was quiet the day after. I really question your obsession if your worried about whether or not DrTre is here to read your posts. Get a fucking life.
Moodini, I would pull back a bit on calling me out. I gave you props for your prediction. I’m still waiting for my props on predicting a Final Four last year 8 months before it happened. Somehow that written prediction vanished during March last year. If you want, I’ll go back and start quoting you. You’ve been wrong far more than you’ve been right. Especially, on MSU. If you want to talk “now” I guess I’ll just pull the Moodini card out and say “not impressed.”
I will have the last laugh. I promise you that. Justice will prevail on the 18th. And MSU will be raising hardware in March once again. Wait on it.
Baker 01-31-2006, 03:50 PM Wow, I'm going to save this to my computer so I can bring it back up over and over again if anyone ever accuses a Michigan fan of whining. I've never seen a more thought out, linked up excuse list in my life. A NON-GAME? Are you serious? I know you Spartan fans are pissed because Michigan dominates you in the majority of sports, but you've always been able to count on basketball. Well, now that is gone. So what do you do? Pretend the game didn't happen? HAHAHAHA. HILARIOUS!
Moodini, you are a comedian. 2001- UM beats State and Moodini writes, "We now own Basketball!" MSU goes to the Elite 8 that year, Michigan sits at home, MSU continues to dominate Michigan, and maintains their status as one of the best.
Now, Moodini is making the same claim.
Well, now that is gone. So what do you do?
Are you kidding me? How many times does something have to happen before u learn from it?
Tell me this Moodini, come March, who is the one who's always laughing? Me or you?
Jethro34 01-31-2006, 04:04 PM I'm laughing at the way State loses once they get to the Final Four. It's like they say, ok, this is our goal, we're here now so let's go play some golf.
By the way, did you laugh when your team stunk it up against Nevada or NC State? You seem to have a short memory as well.
JickBoy34 01-31-2006, 05:23 PM So confused at reading Tre's same post in different threads.
SpartyNick 01-31-2006, 05:53 PM By the way, did you laugh when your team stunk it up against Nevada or NC State? You seem to have a short memory as well.
After a few tears and some reflection I did laugh after those losses. For the longest time I couldn't figure out the motivation behind my chuckles. Then, one morning while shaving, I realized it was because even though the Spartans had gotten bounced in the first round and ended their season in dissapointment, Michigan and it's fan base would've paid handsomely to have swapped places. [smilie=basketballh:
Artermis 01-31-2006, 06:55 PM I actually have something positive to say about a Spartan.
Nick you are a nice guy and because you asked nicely I will lay off Tre.
BTW when MSU beats UM at MSU, I will be here the next day. taking any abuse that comes my way.

Jethro34 01-31-2006, 06:58 PM Actually, Nick, Michigan would not have paid handsomely to switch. Paying handsomely is what got us into a terrible position to begin with!
(though State fans might like that - I'm playing peacemaker as well now, feels strange)

I liked this site a lot better when you were "hiding". [smilie=escape.gif] HAHAHA! [smilie=rofl.gif]
I'm not an idiot. I know we don't "own" basketball now, all I'm saying is that we have the bragging rights in b'ball right now and it's something you're not used to and very pissed off about.
Baker 02-01-2006, 03:35 PM I liked this site a lot better when you were "hiding". HAHAHA!
Dizzamn, this is like post 83 from Moodini about me not being here on Thursday. I said I should've (UM Bball thread).
But lay off a playa. I posted 24 hrs. later! Or maybe it was 30 hrs later? I don't know. Not that long anyways. You don't show within 12 hours and you are labeled the next Hitler. Eaaaasy! [smilie=cool4.gif]
Artermis 02-01-2006, 04:35 PM No Tre you called out UM fans to be here the next morning, you werent that is why you are labeled a puss.

JickBoy34 02-01-2006, 05:47 PM Agree with Art.
Artis Gilmore 02-01-2006, 08:22 PM Why is everyone acting like such a pussy? The fucking games been over in a week. Jesus Christ.
Baker 02-02-2006, 08:59 AM Art, tell me to show up all you want. But, when you are throwin out the stuff you have been "mother fucking pussy" etc. I'm led to believe you are a little too wrapped up in this stuff. And I'm also led to believe you are a middle school student somewhere.
Jethro34 02-02-2006, 11:35 AM Yeah, not sure who locked the "Let's end this" thread, but this thread sucks far worse, so we'll lock this one up.
By the way, it was NOT me (obvious from my comment above) that locked the other one.
Glenn 02-02-2006, 11:37 AM And so "My Toughts" will now live on forever in infamy.
I can't tell you how many times I was tempted to fix that title, but now it must stand.
Baker 02-02-2006, 04:14 PM No doubt, I should have picked a different title. I was in a hurry and just put anything. I think quite a few people misunderstood this post though. The first paragraph was me. The rest was an article that I agreed with. Hence, the bad title discussion.
I stand by my opinion though that this article sums up the game perfectly.
Glenn 02-02-2006, 04:31 PM LOL
You're still not getting it Tre, you misspelled the word "Thoughts".
I've been hinting at it for days now.
Don't change it now.
