She's trying to sell me on Brokeback Mountain because of all the awards that it has been winning.

Find a theatre that is still playing Syriana.

The only reason to see the cowboy movie is because the theatre will be empty so you can "fool around" (as the kids say) with less chance of being caught (no way the guy ushers are going to come in to check during this movie).

I'm watching 4 straight nights of basketball on the main TV, and in the spirit of cooperation, I have agreed to go see a movie that she picks out. She's actually doing me a favor letting me pick between the two.

Wait until you get married. You'll see how much easier life is when you negotiate things as opposed to going the "my way or the highway" route.
