Well, is was a little quiet at my house on Australia Day.

Since I went away for my Birthday, got drunk after coming back and plan on getting drunk again tomorrow I didn't do anything on the 26th.

I will provide a little bit of info some of you guys might find funny or interesting:

Leading the news on the 26th was a story about our natives burning the Australian flag, claiming all the bad shit that has been done to them was in the name of the flag.

Now, do any of you know what our flag looks like?

(i'd post a pic but can't be bothered)

It has the Union Jack in the top left corner - this is because the British got us here. Much appreciated.

It also has a 7-point star on it. It's under the Unuion Jack and it is for the different states/territories in Australia.

On the right side of the flag is the Southern Cross. It's there because... it doesn't matter why it's there.

Anyway, these dumb fucking natives are burning the Southern Cross part of the flag, NOT the Union Jack.

Wouldn't you think that people who are protesting because of what happened way back when would at least be bright enough to burn the Union Jack, since the British did that shit?

I admittedly know little about Australia. What I do know about the politics of Australia was mostly pilphered from Midnight Oil lyrics. Diesel and Dust was the shit back in the day.

But it is strangely refreshing to see that Australia has kooks that burn the flag just like we do. In fact, I'm sure every free country does. Which makes me wonder why our administration would want to make such a big deal about it, other than as a diversionary tactic to turn our attention away from Iraq.

Anyway, happy whatever day Pharaoh.

Austalia Day celebrates what exactly Pharoah? The date Australia lost its colonial rule? I mean, thats what I assume it is and it would seem logical but its not neccessarily the case.

"Australia is a country made up entirely of criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them as you are not trusted by me. So I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me."

For Fool:

First celebrations
On January 26, 1788 Captain Arthur Phillip took formal possession of the colony of New South Wales and became its first Governor.

The fledging colony soon began to celebrate the anniversary of this date. Manning Clarke notes that in 1808 the "anniversary of the foundation of the colony" was observed in the traditional manner with "drinking and merriment".

And more than 200 years later we're still drinking.

As for burning the flag: Fuckers have been doing it for years. Usually it's no big deal but because these guys did it on Australia Day (some natives I know call it Invasion Day) it was the top story.

Midnight Oil? Do you guys remember the lead singer? He's now a member of a political party and is playing a prominent role.

That dude that won the Poker thing in Vegas? Saw him interviewed ONCE after his win and now no one gives a fuck.

Lol

Think about those dumb British bastards. Sent us out here to this "terrible" place. We were supposed to be their prison.

Don't look now but it's a lot fucking better here than in the UK. Check out our beaches, the weather, our sporting teams etc.

I'd rather live here than there.

Thanks for the link Stack. I'm glad I asked since I was completely wrong.

Sending law breakers to the beach sounds about right for the British judicial system.

Unlike previous years, when the celebrations were mainly private, the 1838 celebrations were a 'day for everyone' with the harbour foreshores crowded and a cracker display for the people.

What did they make the white people do?
