Sheed wouldn't turn down an All-Star bid. He wouldn't mind not making it, but how bad of PR would that be if he turned it down. Sheed's not that stupid.

Well, Sheed's chances of making the allstar game got much better with the announcement that Jermaine O'Neal is out for 8 weeks.

haha...Sheed's going to be so mad about this.

He said he wanted to spend time with his wife on the beach. I believe him. I hope he does turn down the all-star game, has that happened before?

Has any team sent all its starters to the AS game in some capacity?

Has any team sent all its starters to the AS game in some capacity?

I think the most players a team sent was 3, 60% sure on that.

At the most we'll send 3, Sheed won't go cause he'd rather spend time with his wife. If coaches pick him he'll turn it down.

I think the Lakers once had 4 players:

Shaq, Kobe, Eddie Jones and NVE but I'm an old guy and my memory might be fading.

If Sheed refused to play in the ASG he'd get a hefty fine and suspension. I remember Malone didn't want to play one year and the league threatened a suspension and fine.

Malone played approx 12 minutes in the first half and then didn't appear in the second half at all.

I believe there was some drama about him not playing in the second half and he basically said "I came and played so they can't touch me".

So, once again if memory serves Sheed would be better off going, playing 10 minutes (Flip can make sure of that) and then sit for the rest of the game.

Yep the Lakers had 4, so did one of the sixers teams in the 80's. When are the AS starters announced?

Which Sixer team had 4 All-Stars?

Don't remember that one.

All-Star reserved should be announced soon.

Maybe in a week? Not sure about that.

If Sheed gets picked by the fans or the coaches, and he turns it down, there is a hefty fine that he would have to pay.

Yao, Bryant Lead All-Star Balloting

Returns: Jan. 19 | Jan. 12 | Dec. 29 | Dec. 15

All-Star Balloting closed on Jan. 22 with Yao (1,990,303) and Bryant (1,891,204) leading all players in votes received in the second-to-last balloting update. Starters for the 2006 All-Star game in Houston on Feb. 20 (8 p.m. ET, TNT) will be announced on Feb. 2, live on TNT. The head coaches in each conference will vote to determine the remaining All-Stars in their respective conference, which will be announced Thursday, Feb. 9, on TNT.

We know of one All-Star already. Detroit’s Flip Saunders and his coaching staff earned the honor of coaching the Eastern Conference All-Stars as the Pistons have clinched the best possible winning percentage in the Eastern Conference through games of Feb. 5. Bryant and the Phoenix Suns’ Steve Nash (1,515,474), the 2004-05 NBA Most Valuable Player, lead all Western Conference guards.

O’Neal leads all Eastern Conference players with 1,840,207 votes, followed by James (1,827,008). The Indiana Pacers’ Jermaine O’Neal (1,067,619) is second to James among Eastern Conference forwards. ~no bitch, it's sheed. hahahaha and it's official The MVP of the 2005 NBA All-Star Game, Allen Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers, leads Eastern Conference guards (1,743,700), followed by the Heat’s Dwyane Wade (1,256,071).

Last year, Kevin Garnett wanted to skip the All-Star game because he was playing hurt and needed the rest. Stern told him he could but he'd have to take the next 5 games off, which was the minimum time on Injured Reserve. KG played. So will Sheed if he's selected.

There is an article on this topic in one of the weekender papers where Flip is trying to convince Rasheed Wallace that he should play if selected because he'd be representing more than himself there, he'd be representing the Pistons organizations and the Piston fans. It seems to be working because Rasheed is now saying that he hasn't booked reservations yet.

With Flip as coach, at least we know he won't play too many minutes. He'll probably make such a deal with Flip, he'll go, but he wants to play the first five minutes each half and then let Bosh and Howard play the rest sort of deal.

Rasheed would be the perfect PF playing alongside Shaq...

Given that the IR doesn't exist anymore, I don't think Sheed would have to do that. But I think Stern will threaten to fine him if he chooses to decline an invitation to the AS game.

just heard on WDFN, McCoskey said that Sheed was asked by reporters and he said that he WOULD attend the All-Star Game if selected.

just like Kilo mentioned above, Sheed realizes that he'd be representing his team as well as himself.

He threw an alley-oop for the win in a game that counted, I can only imagine the kinds of plays he'd try to pull off in an all-star game. Especially with one or more other pistons on the court with him at the same time there, it could be a real show.

I think Sheed will go now. What he said before is that he wouldn't want to be selected (by the coaches/teammates, etc). I think he would go for the fans though (ie as a starter).

The year the Lakers got four players in Kobe was voted in as a starter but came off the bench for the Lakers. Dumb fans. We should have gotten Maxeil in there.

It would be so sweet if we got four guys in there. I figured Sheed would get in as a reserve(if not as a starter) since everyone is so in love with our team, kind of like how Gifloppili got in last year.
