One night after Detroit Pistons coach Flip Saunders won in an emotional return to his old home court, he returns to his current home trying to keep the good times going.
The Pistons can equal their longest winning streak of the season with their ninth straight victory as they host the Milwaukee Bucks. Detroit also won nine in a row from Dec. 14-29.
One-time Minnesota Timberwolves guard Chauncey Billups had 27 points, eight assists and eight rebounds Tuesday as Detroit won its eighth straight game, 107-83 at Minnesota. Saunders coached the Timberwolves for 10 seasons from 1995-2005.
"It was nice," said Saunders, who was cheered loudly before tipoff. "Coaches do like those kind of games."
Billups scored 24 of his 27 points in the second half and made 9 of 13 field goal attempts after halftime. He outscored the Timberwolves all by himself 18-13 in the third quarter.
"A lot of his shots, I don't know what else we could have done but tackle him," Minnesota coach Dwane Casey said.
Antonio McDyess had 16 points for Detroit, and Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace each added 15. The Pistons improved to 20-1 this season when scoring 100 points or more.
"That's one of the best teams I've seen assembled, from top to bottom," said Casey. "You saw the potential NBA champions in the second half."
This is just the fifth game against a Central Division opponent this season for the Pistons, who are 3-1 against Central rivals.
The Bucks scored a season-low in an 85-76 home loss Nov. 26 to the Pistons. Detroit also defeated Milwaukee 99-73 in their final meeting of last season on April 15 at Auburn Hills, Mich. The Pistons have held the Bucks to fewer than 100 points in 11 consecutive meetings.
Milwaukee's offense also struggled Monday night in a 97-80 defeat against Houston. The Bucks missed 17 consecutive shots at one point and went scoreless for a nine-minute stretch of the third quarter while the Rockets scored 19 points. Tracy McGrady led all scorers with 41.
"That's what Houston wanted to do; keep it close, get to the fourth quarter and have McGrady take over," Bucks coach Terry Stotts said. "Offensively, it's tough when the ball doesn't go in."
Michael Redd led the Bucks with 21 points but shot just 7-for-17 from the floor and failed to reach 25 points for the first time in seven games. Redd accounted for 23 of Milwaukee's 76 points in the earlier meeting with Detroit this season.
The Bucks are 1-10 this season when scoring fewer than 90 points.
and yes, i'll be at this game. woohoo! [smilie=basketballh:
Cross 01-25-2006, 07:58 AM This game will be tough.
Our forwards haveplayed a lot yesterday.
I think we pull out a win, a very close one. Redd needs to be stopped, screw the rest of the team
BigggChris04 01-25-2006, 09:20 AM What is our record for the past 4 years with the bucks?
...
And ben Wallace is gonna have a triple double tonight like he did 3 years ago I think it was
...
And yes tayshaun will have a new career high
lmcpherson 01-25-2006, 10:44 AM Including the game this season, Pistons are 13-11 against the Bucks since 99-00. That includes an 0-fer under George Irvine in 2001 when the Bucks were kinda stacked.
I think we take it up the ol' poopshoot tonight...
MOLA1 01-25-2006, 11:19 AM You probably will.
We'll end up winning and staying hetero. Enjoy yourself.

BTW: Does Kilo ever predict a victory?
Or is this his "if I predict we'll lose we'll win, but if I predict we'll win we'll lose" schtick?
Glenn 01-25-2006, 11:52 AM I was going to predict that TJ Ford was going to penetrate us, repeatedly, but I think Kilo covered that.
MoTown 01-25-2006, 12:34 PM I think it's time for a roll call!
Who's going to be there?
(I will)
Anyone know if Delfino will be ready to play? Would be nice to have him considering Tayshaun had to play big minutes yesterday.

He better be or those old "Crylos Pussfino" catcalls might start to echo in here. Nobody misses two games becasue of a flu, Most of our guys would play even with the bird kind afterall.

I'm not making this up or trying to start a Darko debate...
having said that, Darko missed two weeks with the flu either last year or the year before.
LOL

HOW COULD YOU TELL?
BucksFan 01-25-2006, 03:08 PM Good luck tonight, although you really don't need it. Detroit is going to destroy the Bucks. 20-30 points victory. I just hope Bogut plays well, but with Stotts as your head coach, you never know how many minutes he'll get.
darkobetterthanmelo 01-25-2006, 03:46 PM Tayshaun gets 30 tonight.
geerussell 01-25-2006, 09:52 PM I can't believe Kanye West just dropped seven on us to wipe out the lead.
Taymelo 01-25-2006, 10:03 PM Its been four fucking years, and Tayshaun is STILL scared of his own fucking shadow on the offensive end.
Cue the bangs head into wall emoticon.

Artis Gilmore 01-25-2006, 10:22 PM What a great game I missed.
flipscrackers 01-25-2006, 10:22 PM Anyone catch what Sheed said to one of the Bucks players after the game? Only part I caught seemed to be "y'all see that mother fucker..."
Great game, way to really turn it up in overtime, especially after losing the lead so late.
Taymelo 01-25-2006, 10:30 PM Thanks to Bucksfan for stopping by.
Great game by the Bucks, almost took one on our home court.
They've got a nice young group there. I'm not all that sold on the big men like Bogut, Magloire and Gadzuric (sorry, I'm just not all that impressed by any of them - Magloire an "All Star"? LMMFAO), but the guards/sfs are a hell of a group - Redd, Ford, Williams and Simmons - WOW!! That's like 2 teams worth of solid backcourt players in one backcourt. If I were a Buck fan, I'd feel good about the future of my team.
Train Wreck 01-25-2006, 11:11 PM Damn, great basketball tonight.
I couldn't decide what to watch between the Pistons and the UofM/MSU games.
I panicked and turned on the news.....
No, not really... Luckily for me they ended 30 seconds apart and both my teams won.
just got back from the game. good stuff. michael redd is a supafreak.
on a side note, i got to go behind the scenes after the game for a "meet and greet". got to meet Tom Wilson, McDyess, and Ben. got their autographs and took pictures with them.

Black Dynamite 01-26-2006, 12:19 AM for the record Redd's ego lost him the game. he forced up a couple shots the last couple of plays when he coulda easily got the ball to an open man.

Does Tom Wilson really wear as much rouge on his face as it looks like he does on TV?
Someone needs to introduce FSN to pancake makeup. My 2 1/2 year old daughter has taken to counting Wilson's pores on FSN pregame interview BS.
Black Dynamite 01-26-2006, 09:48 AM Interesting take on the Bucks
On Tuesday, the Bucks were 21-19, half a game ahead of the Pacers. That might give you the impression the two teams are roughly of the same quality, perhaps even that Milwaukee is better.
Yet nothing could be further from the truth, as the Pacers amply showed in a 112-88 demolition of Milwaukee during the teams' rematch two weeks ago. Indiana, despite standing just a game over .500 at the midway point of the year, is one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. And Milwaukee, despite seemingly heading toward a playoff season, is actually no better than many clubs who appear destined for the lottery.

I believe there's something physically wrong with Tayshaun. He's been inconsistent lately and often settles for jump shots as supposed to taking it to the basket. I suspect his knee is ailing him again or something else is wrong with his legs.
His FG% is the worst it's been since his rookie year (by a lot) which can be attributed to taking jumpers vs. higher percentage shots in the paint. That usually equates to leg problems.
I also believe the reason why he didn't play for much of the 4th quarter against Houston (guarding t-mac) was because of an injury, not because Evans was playing well.
Tayshaun needs the all-star break to come quick so that he can use the time to heal.

not sure, but TW was in full marketing mode when he was talking with us. he's a constant Piston's promoter. i felt like i was in a Pistons-infomercial. he was gushing over highlight moments this season and all how tight knit the team is. i know it's his job and he seems to do it well.
